Actually, Cupcakes beat "Party of One" by 13 to 16 weeks. And before you ask, no it didn't influence the episode, which had long ago been written and the voice tracks recorded.
@Apple Bloom I thought you'd like the reference if you remember what you did at the end of the story. Can't decide what I really thought of the story. They were really out of character at times. The gore you eventually shrug off if you've happened to venture into the wrong side of the "dead internet". I hadn't shuddered so much since that day...
I'm simply bewildered at how much of the fandom takes (pure) Grimdark pony ANYTHING seriously. It's why Cupcakes is the only Pure Grimdark fic I actually respect, it's just gore porn for the sake of itself and not trying to be taken more seriously than the shock-gore trollfic it is.
The WORST thing about Cupcakes is anyone who reads it and considers i6t's canon possibilities. Missing the point much?
ProTip: All pure grimdark fics are either trollfics, tongue-in-cheek black humor, or taking themselves way too seriously.

Not canon exactly (I mean Dash is alive in the show obviously), but a plausible what-if based on the canon characters. Like: "Yeah, Pinkie could totally go insane and be baking random ponies into cupcakes in secret." This was even more prevalent after Party of One made it canon that pinkie's emotional and psychological makeup is somewhat fragile.
It just boggles my mind how fans seem to have some innate need to validate fanon and headcanon despite those things being by definition invalid to canon.
I have literally seen posts that are borderline dissertations about how this could actually happen. I've seen the same damn thing exhibited by readers of a certain other, much much more disturbing grimdark rapefic where Rarity has a mental break.
Sometimes I wonder if I'm the only person who found Cupcakes humorous. It obviously wasn't meant to be taken seriously, so why do people freak out about it so much? Personally, I like the Psycho!Pinkie fanon, but I love good old canon Pinkie too...

It's like they have absolutely zero concept of character. PartyOfOne!Pinkie turned inward and became dismissive of her former friends and wanted nothing to do with them.
The only reference that kills a mood FASTER than a Cupcakes ref is the phrase "20% cooler in 10 seconds flat".

Why does everyone show Pinkie Pie as a psycho? The favorite character of my friend who showed me mlp fim, was Pinkie Pie. He had seen in mlp fim a whole world, he tolerated gore and other things, but this flash was enough. This flash was the waterdrop that the barrel overflowed. I dont think, that it was in Lauren Faust's mind, letting Pinkie Pie act like a psycho. I dont care, if this post will be removed by admins. With bronies like them, who needs enemies. Sorry for my English.
@DeltaPi_1984_ Why would you think your post would be removed? Anyway no offense, but I think your friend would be better off just getting over it. People enjoy the MLP: FIM in different ways, that's all there is to it. Who are you to say they can't?
