Maybe, but I usual don't have patience to read fanfics let alone make them. I mean, 3000+ words for a one off fanfic? That's like, 15 pages average, and I don't even achieve that in an english essay. Maybe I can do it bit by bit.

That's where timing comes in my friend! No reason why I can't make it, say, a summer event that lasts a couple months. Anyhow, I'm sure suggestions for new events will be able to iron out the time issue regardless of the event I do next.

A valentines day one would be good, shipping leaves a guideline for me yet keeps it very optional to what you can do, so possibilities are still endless. However, some of the brony community may detest the approval of shipping as they could see it as being favorited by EqD if there was a shipping fanfic competition.

you know, i love the fact that this contest is going, and that Equestria Daily is being said about on the Hub, but the more of an official site EqD starts to become, the less the fandom can submit here.
now i could be totally wrong, but am i the only one noticing the HUGE drop in ship-fics? my guess is that it is because EqD is starting to be known more by everyone, and this causes some stuff like shipping to go away.

You may be right as more people join of which maybe some are anti-shippers that complain about it non stop, I won't lie and say didn't, but its just the way the community works, even though I don't like most ships I think it unfair to those that do, so like I've said with the Drawfriend saucy/ship stuff, just put it into like a separate part of the website
