I read through some of it, but honestly, it just doesn't interest me as much as I was hoping it would. I guess it's just not as much up my alley. I can't say I dislike it, but I don't like it as much as, say, "And that's how Equestria was Made". Another pony comic. This one I find to be "okay".
Was more of a 'well, that's probably going to end messily' a few pages earlier. Part of it I guess is me not really 'attaching' to this variant as much as, say, the more canon personalities, or ones that retain them for the most part.
I read about 10 pages, then I rated it with one star. Then I read the comments, and saw nothing but praise. So I read a few more pages to see if it got any better, but it only got worse. There are just so many problems with this, and I don't mean the changes in personality. I could treat these as totally original characters and artwork, and I would still think it's crap. You can't make a "dark" story just by making everypony a complete bitch. Beyond the shallow characterization, the writing is just poor. It follows the EXACT SAME story with just enough changes to make everyone over the top dark.
I'm sorry, but things like these are the reason why I sometimes hate the Pony fandom. What inspires people to make these grimdark stories up about a cartoon, a cartoon which is not even made for our demographics. I believe fans are free to make up original stories and alternate universes, but this is just wrong. To me, this story only proves that the whole premise of fanfictions is to make them grimdark, gorey and full of cursing somehow makes the fanfiction "mature".

You do know that this is the internet... If you think this is too intense (I thought the title "Friendship is betrayal will give you some clue) or CRUEL then please leave the internet right now, before you stumble onto pictures of innocent ponies becoming...well not-so-innocent (fucking Rule 34)
I am glad people love it and hate it! :D I know fully well, it's not what everypony likes and by no means am I considering myself an artist or anything of the like, anyone can photoshop. Hand-drawn comics are by far more admirable.
Making fan comics out of screencaps has kind of just been my thing and after getting drawn into the show, I just felt like there was something funny I could do with it.
Either way, I am happy the comic got more attention. I've been a lurker on this site for almost half a year now and am consistently amazed at all the cool artwork and fan creations people pull off. Especially mad props to the people behind the Trollestia stuff! They are an inspiration.
Any feedback and discussion on my comic is welcome and I will do my best to take it into account as I continue to make it in January. Thanks for your interest everyone!
I can actually somewhat agree here. This is not mature in the true meaning of the word. Mature would imply towards something more in the likes of Friendship is Dragons http://friendshipisdragons.thecomicseries.com/ It's got great sophisticated jokes and does not need to rely on the more crude forms of humour to remain entertaining.
Friendship is Betrayal is mature in the sense that it contains themes that would get R/M ratings. My comic is very much childish, I can admit that. However that is how I think humour is at its most fundamentals.
One of my favourite comedians and entertainers in the world is Weird Al Yankovic and I think while his humour is very slapstick and childish, he still is always able to get me on a happy mood. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HTGlUMvbhSw is a good example of over the top grim content for humour's sake.
To cut a long story short, the comic is not supposed to be taken seriously. It just entertainment, folks :)
That's not the problem. The problem is that making a work bloodier and sexier is a shallow attempt at making something "mature." It's an insult to our intelligences when someone makes something innocent Darker and Edgier and expects us to find it engaging. It's not engaging. It's the fever dream of a diseased mind who wouldn't know good storytelling if it was hand-delivered by Jesus, Mohammed, and the Buddha to his house.
I am curious about the next part... on one hoof the plot was rather simple... but the twist ending gives the second part a potential for Deathnote level scheming... Don't buck it up.
Oh Mgod! Pony's are cussing! The funny part is... the only major thing that changes is the dialouge (and addition of dark thoughts) and makes a completely different thing. Wow, this has both scarred and amused me greatly, worth it!

Arguably I do know of good storytelling though, as is evident by the fact that I am also watching the TV show.
However the decision whether my storytelling is good is of course completely up to the reader.
