That's one of the scores of things I adore about this fandom; everyone has their own "best pony/ponies," but the vast majority of us love them all and get along swimmingly. A lot of shows and things have just one or two main characters, so pretty much everyone's got the same obvious favorites. With MLP, even the most obscure of background characters is showered with love (and diamonds) by their fair share of the fandom, you've got six incredible main characters, and a large cast of other awesome secondary and tertiary ones...there's a pony for every person, and a person for everypony (okay, I stole that from the Hub's "Pound Puppies!") But really, what more can one ask?! :D
What we need to do is make up a giant poll session for this. First we'll hold a poll for the Mane 6 and find out who is best for them. Then we compile a list of suggested background characters together to make another pole and find the winner of background characters. After, we put the two head to head to see who is the best pony in Equestria! I know this won't settle the debate, but it will still be cool to know how others think of the pony crew. /)^3^(\
