@Rubik Hooves I would recommend "growing pains", if you feel like reading a couple of hundred pages, and are ok with both Grimdark and OC's.

Pretty much those 2 I mentioned. in Blood... (absolutely the best fic I've stumbled upon so far) you'll find the best Fluttershy ever. Her character there is even better than in the original cartoon. Must say that I really admire Stonershy, its author, for that.
"Solar Flare + Deep Dark + What could have been" is also a fantastic combo. Dragryphon, author of this little series, is a great writer, has brilliant editors and reading is incredibly smooth. It's grimdark but there are also elements of comedy.
Now I'm reading, besides some other things, Sunset and For Want of a Dawn - its sequel. Its author had a great idea - he made Twi as a golem with many interesting traits. Sequel happens to be UberDumb at some places but it's still a great reading.
As you might have noticed, I prefer grimdark but I'm a little above avg age of a brony (100% above) so I prefer fics with less childish and more grown-up flavor ;)
Here you can have them all in print-friendly format if you'd like. I've converted them to this format for myself and my friends (who read from pc screens anyway...) so why not sharing it further?

Seems like war is the theme of this month!
I'm always torn between writing cute comedy fanfic and action-packed grimdark fanfic, because yeah, grimdark scifi action is pretty damn cool, but it kind of defeats the whole purpose of the real FiM ponies, which is to induce dew-eyed euphoria. That's why I like stories like "The Creature That Came to Ponyville" that blend the two themes about 50-50. I'm like, dawwwwww, BADASS! Dawwwwwww, BADASS!
