as someone who has read far too much shipping, i can say it's sorta disappointing when a shipfic doesn't go beyond a kiss.
It's very disappointing when it hints at cloppiness but doesn't turn into the rare clopfic.
I hate R34, but clopfics are best fics.
I'll add it to my list of stories to read when it hits 'UPDATE COMPLETE'

Oooh, what a lovely start! I think I have more of a weakness for romance stories than I'd care to admit XD
Amusingly (and weirdly appropriately), I happened to put on the third movement of Borodin's string quartet no. 2 as I began reading Lyra's story to Bon-Bon near the end, and the introduction to the movement blended with the mood of the story so well (at least until the very last bit at the end of the chapter) =D
Not only are Lyra and Bon-Bon given great personalities in this, but Pokey Pierce, Carrot Top, and Berry Punch all get their own distinctive personalities too. And the twist about what was "controversial" about Lyra and Bon-Bon getting engaged was a really nice one. This is definitely on my list of fanfics to follow. :)

I think, with one chapter alone, this story has become my definitive source for some of the background pony's personalities, especially Lyra. "Like a human!"

I felt the writing style was just too choppy and unpolished.
Premise is alright, although I'm really sick of reading homosexual shipping.

i've read 80 or so ship fics. I've only seen a handful that ended in marriage.

I don't even remember that one.
February fics are terrible fics to have end in marriage though - there's no fulfillment, minimal conflict, and like I said: there is no difference between that proclamation of "love" and "life-long commitment," and there should be a difference simply because there is.
Though sometimes I get the feeling that a lot of shipping writers don't have a lot of experience to base love on either... so... who knows. That, or, they're not quite the best at putting it to text realistically.

As for the fic itself, it was quite good. Nice, elegantly executed prose that was still quick and punchy. And it managed to nicely balance being heartfelt with gobs of laughs. If it maintains this quality throughout it could easily become a gold standard for shipping fics. (Or maybe I'm still high from Berry Punch's hysterical scene in the fic.)

Kinda felt like "The Lyra and Bon-bon show, starring Pinkie Pie" to be honest. Lyra and Bon-bon felt pretty empty.
The name "Vanner" caught my attention. I was going to put it on hold in favour of studies, buuuut...
First off, style. It's different from most of the fics up on EqD, with a structured quality to it that optimizes plot delivery. The passive voice in the beginning was off-putting, but as soon as the characters came in it just flowed.
Second paragraph, "laden" instead of "ladned"?
Second, characters. Pinkie has the benefit of canon development, so it's natural for her parts to overshadow Lyra+Bon-Bon. Even so, you've given them good foundation, and you still have the rest of the fic to carry it out.
Third, plot. It's good, balanced, well-planned. I guess the only gripe I might have with it is that it's not engaging fast enough because of said overshadowing, but then again this is a shipping fic, unlike most of the stuff I read.
This is well-written, but I'm not sure whether to give it 4 or 5 stars, so I'll wait until Chapter 2 to decide. =)

That was a fun begining salvo. I liked the whole bartering scene with Bon-bon trying to pay Pinkie not to plan it completely and thus over-do it.
Looking forward to the next installment most definitely.

I didn't realize this was by Vanner at first. Excellent work, as we've come to expect. Looking forward to additional chapters.
All right, I'm won over. 5 stars. The twist was masterfully executed, drawn out as to maximize effect and functioned as if it were the most natural thing in the world. I'm eager to read the next!
Hmmm...now where have I seen the beginning of chapter 2 before....
I've been forced to watch enough romantic movies to have seen that plot twist coming a mile away. Mind you, that won't stop me from continuing to enjoy this story...

Another brilliant chapter. The Plow and Barbell part was incredible, and so was that twist.
I'm a sucker for shipping fics. The Lyra/Bon-bon personalities you've created are fun. Couple of things I would work on though. Some of the scenes feel rushed without development. For example, the first marriage by BerryPunch. The colt/colt thing was a funny little twist. However Lyra's reaction at the end of part 3 seems a little extreme, perhaps too predictable. Despite that, the underlying efforts of the nobility to stop the wedding makes for a great antagonist. I look forward to seeing part 4.

Dear god, I just got finished reading and I have to say: I loved every moment of it.
When I first started reading, I had this overbearing impression that Lyra and Bonbon's relationship was too ideal, that if there were to be any conflict, it wouldn't be between the two of them. It was charming, but I didn't feel any real depth behind it. The real pulling point for me at the time was the development of the characters than the relationship, like Pokey, and Carrot Top, and even Berry Punch (Lyra and Bonbon, too, of course).
When I got to chapter three, though, everything suddenly exploded in awesomeness! The drama and tension really started building, your writing style was much more prominent, and all of the time I spent reading was fifteen million times more worth it.

Amazing story. First Lyra/BonBon ship I've read, and I loved it. Probably the most excited about reading a fanfic to the end I've ever been.
The vows... the vows nearly made me cry with joy. And I was really expecting Pinkie to slot the bastard duke at the end. The story twist there XD Love and tolerance goes I long way, I see.

That was really well done! The characters seemed far more genuine and comprehensible than in "One Last Quest" especially Pokey who I liked way better in this story. You had a very good mix of characters, though the nobility could have had maybe slightly more screen time, their view was interesting too.
I guess I'm not the only one who laughed his ass off at the part with Berry Punch and the two stallions, that was silly awesome :)
omg i love this sooooo much plz do something like this again 6 out of 5 stars one thing though i didnt like the bit where lyra said she was straight i whould of been better if she said she was bi or take the bit out all thogether but its still an amazing story you got the character bon bon spot on an lyra amazing its hard to find amazing romance stroys like this any where P.S i liked how you didnt dwell on the fact lyra wants to be a human and just made one jake about it
