Yah, I'm definitely going to be maining Twilight. I haven't played a whole lot of fighting games, but I usually play the caster type. That and she's awesome.
When this game comes out, fun shall be had. Even though I'm not particularly fond of fighting games, this will still be awesome anyway...Yay for ponies!
It is visually very very good, well animated etc, but like Wackyteen Im not a fighting game person, and have a hard time working in Ponys fighting for fun. Well executed, well animated, nice mechanics.... but not for me
Saw this a little while ago (I follow Mane 6's blog), but yes I have to agree that this game is shaping up fabulous. If I do not sound incredibly, rabidly excited it's only because I am forcibly restraining myself... the suspense in waiting for this game to be released is almost painful.
It's a Twilight Introduction, but the real newcomer for me is Pinkie Pie. Foam Finger attack? So. Awesome.
Oh, and Twilight's finisher, WOW!
Thank goodness I play games by Blizzard, so I'm used to waiting for programmers to take a long time to get everything done just right. History shows that those who do take their time more than often than not come out with a superior product. And as this video shows, things are looking GREAT so far!
I love that when Applejack shows up at the end of the video, the melody of the music turns into her part from At The Gala. Anyway, I'm super excited for this game. Looks like Pinkie will be the third character they do a video for.

Is it vain that I'm going to main myself? *shrugs*I'm mediocre at fighting games and I don't normally play as characters with my style,I prefer fast and aerial fighters with a medium/low priority. But I will diligently try to main myself!
@Twilight Sparkle Yeah, I'm not going to tie myself down to one character until I see what Rainbow Dash brings to the table. Not that your magic isn't awesome, but a Sonic Rainboom trumps most everything.
But in the end, I usually pick the character that has the most trap/counter abilities. So there's a good chance It'll be you.
Call me a prude but it honestly feels... kinda wrong to me to see friends like this fighting in this manner. The one time I ever got into a physical fight with a friend, we never spoke to each other again...
I just hope there's a good story reason for why they're fighting in the first place. These are some damn powerful attacks they're throwing at each other and anything less than mind control or fending off evil alien clones or something seems like an insufficient reason to be doing this.
I 'unno... maybe I'm just more sensitive to this given my past...
Looks incredible as ever, although Pinkie is the actual new character here; we've seen some rougher Twilight gameplay before.
I was surprised that the opening "splash" screen shows some pretty weak fanart of Twilight. The art in the game looks very good, so it's a shame to see much weaker stuff elsewhere, which doesn't match the show. Perhaps it's the same artist and they just don't know how to draw larger images with appropriately thick and tapered line widths.
I liked the music and the backgrounds. I wish we'd seen more of Twilight's recolors here ... but Mama Twilight and Dewdrop Dazzle will do for now, I suppose. Lyra could actually be an idea now with the new blind bags...
The presence of Dewdrop Dazzle also explains why they're beating the shit out of one another. You need no excuse to kick Dewdrop Dazzle in the face.
Perhaps I am the only one, but I am anticipating the storylines in this game most of all. The Devs have stated once that all the characters will have good reasons for fighting. I'm looking forward to playing through them. But then I've always enjoyed the ending for games like Mortal Kombat and StreetFighter among others. I hope there will be similar character development for each character's playthrough in this game.
Also, that Pinkie Pie finger dash attack looks like a one way ticket to a counter, hoping they give her some more robust specials cause I was planning on maining her.

What I can't believe is the caliber of game that is coming out of only fandom! It is unbelievable that people would dedicate so much of themselves to create something so polished for no compensation whatsoever.
Free is my favorite price for anything, but I would have likely paid for this. Wow I love this fandom! (and the creators of this game!)

Looks like Twilight has been trying to channel Yomiko Readman with her attacks. All she needs is a tidal wave of paper to make it complete.
This game is really coming along. This along with the sequel to Persona 4 look like the big up and coming fighting games. I really can't wait for this.
I'm anticipating Fluttershy being a mighty glacier. A throw-heavy turtle... at least until you charge up her meter, then she goes all "You're going to LOVE ME" on the opponent and finishes the match.

This is looking awesome! The only thing that saddens me is there will preobably not be a character creator and there DEFFINATELY is not going any fanon characters. Firewall and Storm Wing from TtEoAP would be some epic additions.
I think that the creators of this game should be getting ready to work on an even bigger remake after season 2. Maybe even charge a few bits for extra features like an in-game character creator and bonus characters (I'm sure nopony objects!). I was a little disappointed that PsychoTwi isn't a power-up or combo in this, but that's a minor detail. The outta-control magic-Twi power-up is fine.

Alternately, instead of Discord, I'd like to see Braeburn, Soarin' and Spitfire as playable characters. I mean, i suppose the CMCs could be playable characters but what kind of movesets would they have. I mean, I guess I guess Scootaloo could have a bunch of scooter-based attacks but I dunno what kind of attack animations you could even use for the other two. I guess if Applebloom was in there she could have a couple karate moves, and Sweetie Belle would have like, 1 "dumb fabric" related move... but that's not enough for a fully fleshed out moveset.
On another note, I guess the possibility of Rarity wielding Tom as a weapon is out then...
Looks fantastic! If you read their FAQ they say there will be at least one non pony character. Spike's the obvious choice but I think it might be the manticore. Seems more suited for the role. I imagine they still have some characters completely undrawn and animated so their season 1 character list isn't necesarily set in stone. Annnd even if it was, New Luna is simply a new design of old Luna. No grand design changes needed there. Although it'd probably be Nightmare Moon, the alternate costumes look like they would suffice.

I loved the tagline I saw for this game somewhere - something along the lines of "Friends can be stubborn, sometimes you have to beat the friendship into them!"
If I'm honest, as a fighting game fan, I have a couple of concerns. 1)Even if it's pre-alpha, the number of moves seems kind of limited. Hopefully, later builds will fix this. 2)While Twilight does look to mostly be a zoner (fireball, trap, teleport), most of her tools are shown extending combos, and without spending the orange 4 dot thing, she doesn't seem to have many good tools to push her opponent back. 3)How are you meant to hit her out of her level 3? If you can't, it could be a crazy good chipping tool, considering it's range.
From the system so far, here's what I've heard/gleamed: a)Every character has a launcher-earlier pre-alpha builds showed Applejack's launcher, while this video shows Twilights's. b)There is a separate...thing next to the meter which requires taking a separate action to fill (kind of like respect for ex moves in the original guilty gear). c)Crossups and air recoveries are in, which is good. d)Twilight's two alternate colours seem to be based off Lyra/Heartstrings-is the other one Celestia? e)Right now, the only type of knockdown in the game can be combo'd off of- this will probably change in later versions.
Hopefully, she will be about as good as all the other ponies, because balance is awesome. As is this (hopefully)

ah I see, actually wasn't aware that they were only using season 1 stuff.
Alternately, instead of Discord, I'd like to see Braeburn, Soarin' and Spitfire as playable characters. I mean, i suppose the CMCs could be playable characters but what kind of movesets would they have. I mean, I guess I guess Scootaloo could have a bunch of scooter-based attacks but I dunno what kind of attack animations you could even use for the other two. I guess if Applebloom was in there she could have a couple karate moves, and Sweetie Belle would have like, 1 "dumb fabric" related move... but that's not enough for a fully fleshed out moveset.
On another note, I guess the possibility of Rarity wielding Tom as a weapon is out then...

Looks fantastic! If you read their FAQ they say there will be at least one non pony character. Spike's the obvious choice but I think it might be the manticore. Seems more suited for the role. I imagine they still have some characters completely undrawn and animated so their season 1 character list isn't necesarily set in stone. Annnd even if it was, New Luna is simply a new design of old Luna. No grand design changes needed there. Although it'd probably be Nightmare Moon, the alternate costumes look like they would suffice.
Nothing is more humiliating than a book to the face! :)
I loved the tagline I saw for this game somewhere - something along the lines of "Friends can be stubborn, sometimes you have to beat the friendship into them!"
If I'm honest, as a fighting game fan, I have a couple of concerns.
1)Even if it's pre-alpha, the number of moves seems kind of limited. Hopefully, later builds will fix this.
2)While Twilight does look to mostly be a zoner (fireball, trap, teleport), most of her tools are shown extending combos, and without spending the orange 4 dot thing, she doesn't seem to have many good tools to push her opponent back.
3)How are you meant to hit her out of her level 3? If you can't, it could be a crazy good chipping tool, considering it's range.
From the system so far, here's what I've heard/gleamed:
a)Every character has a launcher-earlier pre-alpha builds showed Applejack's launcher, while this video shows Twilights's.
b)There is a separate...thing next to the meter which requires taking a separate action to fill (kind of like respect for ex moves in the original guilty gear).
c)Crossups and air recoveries are in, which is good.
d)Twilight's two alternate colours seem to be based off Lyra/Heartstrings-is the other one Celestia?
e)Right now, the only type of knockdown in the game can be combo'd off of- this will probably change in later versions.
Hopefully, she will be about as good as all the other ponies, because balance is awesome. As is this (hopefully)
-Best pony gameplay? Check!
-Bonus Pinkie Pie gameplay? Also check!
-One of the best "At the Gala" remixes I've ever heard? Double check!
