Plus Derpy is such a deep character when you start reading fanfictions that we couldn't help but comment on this post. She has many faces and many names but we all know her as the same. Some people mistake her for Cloudkicker.
She used to be known as Bright Eyes in some fanfics as well as Ditzy Doo or Derpy Hooves. We've seen her as a caring mother, an outcast, unique, or portrayed in so many more ways. But in the end, everyone loves her.
Of course Derpy knows Japanese. She's a misunderstood genius!

Also, I think there's a little too much derp/muffin in these lines. Surely Ditzy has better things to talk about? …Okay you're right, let me rephrase that. Surely she has other things to talk about? Like Dinky and… Oh my Celestia that was the greatest poem I have ever heard. Dinky's voice is SO CUTE! The second half seemed to balance out the excess muffin talk. (Yes I just type this out as I listen.)
Also, has anypony else here read the fanfic that that poem came from? It was called <a href="https://docs.google.com/document/d/1xy28CF7zMdwfbmRnBnIXygJxnHR7UZqgSdjt7YX0dBA/edit?hl=en&pli=1><i>Today, Tomorrow, and Forever</i></a>. In case you hadn't figured it out, it's a sadfic. Dag nabbit, can't we get people to write more <i>happy</i> Derpy and Dinky stories? They totally deserve it, in my opinion.
Maybe she's smarter? Derpy is the freaking puppetmaster of Equestria. Every decision Cele makes Derpy has forseen; every twitch of Pinkie's tail has been thought out for months. And soon she will enact her final plan, to use the elements of harmony, and the magic of the alicorns to transform the moon into a muffin!
That poem has so much more of an impact when said outloud. I already teared up when I read it from that fanfic but spoken out loud. Ugh. Need to find some tissues now.
I wish I could be someone as wonderful as you. I wish I could speak clearly and make sure everypony knew. How greatly I adore you. How everything I've done... Was just so I you your own moment in the sun.

Is there really not more to Derpy´s character than muffins? Really? I overheard people talking about her characterisation. You know, -delivers mail and -likes muffins is a bit flat.
