Shipping stuff in general baffles me as whatever I see of it always seems to just go ahead and start from the premise that the two characters are massively obsessed with each other. I always am left wondering how the author/artist got from what was actually in the show all the way to there within their own mind.
Not that I'm completely against shipping, as I've seen some works that did it in a way that worked well enough for me... But since I don't really see any of this stuff as inherent in the source material, I can really through my support behind any particular pairing.
