Not to upset anypony, but I REALLY hate the CMCs. The individual ponies I have no problem with, but the moment any one or all of the three go on a crusade, they become annoying and unbearable.
I sincerely hope that there's not a single mention of the words "Cutie Mark" throughout this entire episode, and that Scootaloo and Applebloom eventually get their own episodes, also without mention of Cutie Marks.

How is it that this show can have almost ANY synopsis, and yet it sounds like the most awesome thing ever? This sounds amazing - it's great to see the CMCs outside of the context of being the CMCs, and by and large we've not seen that much Rarity/Sweetie Belle bonding so this episode should be fantastic! Plus it raises my hopes of getting a Scootaloo-centric episode to clear up the connection between her and Rainbow Dash - with the two of them being tomboys, an episode centering around Scootaloo's hero worship for Rainbow, or Rainbow's affection for young Scootaloo, could be sweet... Season 2 just gets better and better!
The Hub should realize that some bronies are pretty pissed that the show is no longer following the week to week pattern, regardless of the fact that a majority of Season 2 is finished.
Then again, The Hub is 'for kids'...

Soooo......my guess is that at the last second, somepony will get over her fear of dirt and of looking foolish to be there for her little sister after all. Twi's recap will probably be all about how family is way more important than the load of oatmeal Rare will be stressing about for most of the episode.
That being said, if they ever do make Derpy/Ditzy the feature performer of an episode, Rarity seems like the Most Likely to hold the Conflict Ball; it'd be like 'Opposites' or 'Bubble Beam's Best' or something where Little Miss Fabulous has to learn to see past first impressions and through psychological defense mechanisms. (Well, her or the rainbow-maned Kim Possible wannabe on the caffeine binge.)
Sigh. I don't like the younger ponies very much. They're irritating, and remind me too much of the 3.5 gen flash cartoon (shudder).
Actually I pretty much just dislike the CMCs entirely. Their episode with the talent show is the only one in season one that I've watched only once. And even "the Stare Down" is one of my least played episodes, even though watching Fluttershy stare down a cockatrice is epic, because I don't like the CMCs.
Let's hope that this upcoming episode has more to do with sisterly relationships than it has to do with cutie marks.
If this is true than this ep will almost certaintly contain a song, which will be remixed to da max for the next year or two. Life is good.

This is SO cute. I loved all the AJ and Applebloom interactions in the first season, so I can't wait to see Rarity and Sweetie Belle's relationship fleshed out. I love that Sweetie Belle is less dainty/refined than Rarity and that she's a lot more willing to get her hooves dirty (little kids are so gross and unhygienic). This sounds like a Sweetie Belle-centric episode, and since Applebloom got one in the first season, I wonder if we'll get a Scootaloo-centric episode too.

This sounds like it will be fun. Rarity competeing in outdoor festivities that call for sweat and dirt are as far out of her comfort zone as you can get.
Well Lauren did say there would be more looks at pony families this season. We may finally get to see what's Rarity's/Sweetie's living situation is(do they live together, does she live with her parents and just visit?)or Scoot's family.
Though I'm liking Garuuspikes' idea about rainbow using Scoots to get into a sisters-only competition. (chuckles)
This episode sounds like it's going to be aiming for a direct strike to the heart of viewers. The amount of D'awww will be fatal without protective gear.

I'm sure that they're mostly spreading the episodes out so that they can have holiday episodes that actually line up with the holidays. We already know there's a Halloween episode, but perhaps there will be a Thanksgiving, Christmas and maybe even Valentine's Day episode.
Plus think of it this way: the more spread out they are the less time we have to wait between seasons two and three! :p

@Jonny Manz My guess is that we'll find out that Scootaloo idolizes Rainbow Dash because she prefers a loud, flashy, lazy, thoughtless blowhard to her dull, boring, dependable (except when she overextends herself again) older sister Ditzy.
(I have a sneaking suspicion that her going the wrong way during Winter Wrap-up and the collision of anvils with Twilight's cranium were the end result of her whole life being 'Applebuck Season' in that she's forever being told to do the thing she hates to do most: take a break because she's overextended herself again.)

You might not like Rainbow Dash (and it sounds like you really don't), but lazy she is not. She's Ponyville's weather manager, and she seems to be a right good job of that. Aside from that, she seems to use much of her free time practicing, and naps would probably be a natural response to that sort of lifestyle.

Uh, there's nothing connecting Cheerilee to Scootaloo whatsoever, aside from the fact that Cheerilee is a school-teacher and thus is responsible for the education of Scootaloo. And Octavia is an earth pony, as any search would probably tell you.

In previous generations Scootaloo was Cheerilee's sister, but it doesn't seem to be the case currently. In truth, not much is known about Scootaloo's family.

Sweetie Belle is indeed cutest pony, and Rarity is the best and most fabulous.
Now to see if it is going to give Sweetie Belle the spotlight or if the CMC are going to be the main focus again somehow. Hoping for the former, Applebloom already had at least 1.5 episodes where she played a role in a story without the rest of the CMC being involved. (Not that I wouldn't mind seeing them go up against each other depending on what they have planned as long as Sweetie Belle does maintain the main position in the spotlight w/Rarity.)
I'm sure it will be fine either way, looking forward to it.

One thing (besides the Scootaloo thing I mentioned above) that I would love to see would be an appearance by Celestia and Luna! I mean, they are sisters, it would make a helluva lot of sense for them to show up, even if it is just a short little scene at the end of the episode. Plus, I love them both so much! They are 2/3 of my favorite ponies after all. (The third is Twilight, in case you didn't want to assume just because of my avatar).

Can I make one request of everyone in this fandom? Can we please, for the love of God, stop using "love and tolerate" as an excuse to berate people who have opinions about the show that differ from ours? The whole point of the phrase (initially, at least) was to demonstrate the attitude we would take against trolls. As in, people who were intentionally trying to hurt us and piss us off. At no point did it, does it, or will it ever mean that somebody, say, not liking the CMC is wrong. It means they have a different opinion. That's what healthy communities have: people with different opinions who agree to respect each other despite disagreeing on occasion.
By screaming at Mitchell to "love and tolerate" the CMC, you're actually doing the exact opposite to him. Please, if you would, stop misusing the term until you figure out what it's supposed to be referring to. Or better yet, how about we all abandon the damn mantra and just agree to not be dicks to each other? Is that too much to ask?

Hmmm... what if this episode is the first where Twilight doesn't show up at all? Think about it, it could be Rarity and Sweetie Belle delivering the friendship/siblinghood lesson at the end of the episode to Celestia and Luna, who are presiding over the event, because, well, they are sisters, after all. Oh, sweet Celestia and Luna, I really, really hope that's the ending. Sure I'd be disappointed that Twilight doesn't show up, but better to not force her appearances, am I right?
