I believe the ban on OC ponies refers to "original characters", i.e. ones that aren't from the show. If you draw any of the characters that have actually been seen on the show, then you should be all right.
I've submitted my own art following those guidelines and gotten in the Drawfriend. It's ultimately their call if they use your submission or not, but it's certainly worth the try.
#4 and #28 remind me of Megatokyo. Now there is a crossover that needs to be.
