He was threatening you and Fluttershy, you were in fear for your life, and you were pretty sure you saw him pull a weapon. It was also dark outside and in a "bad" section of Ponyville.
It works for cops, so Celestia's protege should ride this thing out jussssst fine.
It entirely depends. Assuming only the liquid state of water counts, the last thing to happen to the glass was it being drained (due to evaporation) therefore it is half empty. Twilight was correct. If it was exactly one drop from half, and a single drop were to go into it, then at the moment of contact it would be half full, however it would be half empty from then on. This is also assuming the measurement of half is only approximate, and not an exact 50.0% liquified water, and 50.0% air mixture.
Also, if including the gas form of water, then it is not half and the question is invalid.
Twilight walked in on what appeared to be Fluttershy fighting a bear. Now, my time with Red Dead Redemption might have made me a bit biased on the subject, but my reaction for whenever I see a bear is to shoot it in the face. These things will kill you and then multiply. Don't give them the chance.
Although I'm not too big a science buff, I'm going to say Twilight might be wrong. Technically if the glass is half full of water, the other half would seem to be clearly half full of air. Thus glass is more then half full due to the water vapour found in the ambient humidity.

YAY more comics!!!!
I must be asleep. I wasn't laughing.
Man, the second comic was funny yet terrible. Awwwwwwww man. XD
I think Twilight went a bit far...
Second comic. That was hilarious.
First ones funny, oh Derpy.
Second one is ok, If he follows cartoon physics he should be fine. Poor Fluttershy though.
Derpy seems to be the general favorite for surreal humor :P
Twilight kill a bear, nope chuck testa
I'm not sure about the first one...I'd think at least Rainbow would be an optimist?
Damn comics are so awesome that I can't think of a witty comment to post.
twilight is crazy!! >:D
Dang Twilight, you prevented Fluttershy's chuck norris maneuver
WHAT!? But I- And she- Then he- But then- Before- Finally-
I DIDN'T DO IT!
I am a thirsty optomist
Yudhaikeledai made it to Equestria Daily. Cheers to a friend and a hard worker.
#1 was amusing. #2 was hilarious.
@Twilight Sparkle
You sure about that? You looked a bit frazzled there; that can do funny things to a pony's memory.
1. Glass is half empty, no it's half full.
2. Twilight lost it again.
2 made me sad.
#1 Oh, very nice. Love Derpy at the bottom. Derpy, u funny. <3
#2 Oh my goodness. Hory shet, Twilight! You killed Harry! And Fluttershy... :(
Nothing can stop the power of the shotgun, BITCH!
#2 is HORRIBLE!
That bear didn't deserve that....
1. I say the glass is full
*drinks the glass form around the water and throws the water*
2. ............ARRIVADERCI
First one was good.
Second one was a little dark... but funny.
#1 It's full, actually.
50% Water + 50% Air = 100% Full!
@Sandspada
But it's only half of each, not all of one. And there's no party inside, so it's completely empty.
@Pinkie Pie
If you can put a party into a glass I will make it rain chocolate and snow popcorn for a week.
@Twilight Sparkle Maybe it was your evil personality which I'm going to name the Nega Twilight from here on out.
@Celestia
Applejack did that last week. She called it 'Hard Cider'.
Then I woke-up with this weird thing on my head and laying on Dashie.
@Celestia
encroaching onto my territory are we Princess Celestia
Looks at comic #2: I was wondering how long before we got the first hints of the expected flood of "Psycho Twilight" art and stories.
First comic Derpy Gets it right every time
Second Comic so very funny and what i wished happened
@Pinkie Pie:
hey!!!! You weren't supposed to say anything about that!!!
Relax Twilight. Deep breaths.
Remember your story:
He was threatening you and Fluttershy, you were in fear for your life, and you were pretty sure you saw him pull a weapon. It was also dark outside and in a "bad" section of Ponyville.
It works for cops, so Celestia's protege should ride this thing out jussssst fine.
@mycutiemarkisagun
Ah but my foolish Pony as you say the things you said the plain you weaved falls into shambles.
No engineering ponies? Not even Twilight?
I'd figure her (or maybe Pinkie) would've pointed out that there was twice as much glass than you needed to hold the water.
>Science.
1. Thank you, Ditzy, we can all breath a bit better now.
2. No. Just... just no.
#2 Twilight just got 20% cooler than Chuck Norris!
add also #1 is funny as hell :)
Scientist like Twilight usually conclude that the glass is not half empty, nor half full, just that it's twice as big as it has to be.
Logical conclusion: Twilight is not really a scientist.... she's just your average librarian.
okay okay, not so average, she's a magical librarian who's the personal pet - errr, 'student' of Her Royal Highness Princess Celestia.
Hail Celestia. >.>
#1 Cupcakes reference. Another one. (Last panel is the best))
#2 Is dead? Nope, it's Chuck Testa.
@Rainbow Dash
Oh, Dashie! You're so silly! It's not like I told everypony you were wearing them and strutting around like Lyra.
As for comic 1, I'd call myself a "Lying/Hiding Optimist".
I'll act pessimistic, in the hope that the opposite of what I say happens.
Although I'm not too big a science buff, I'm going to say Twilight might be wrong. Technically if the glass is half full of water, the other half would seem to be clearly half full of air. Thus glass is more then half full due to the water vapour found in the ambient humidity.
