Story: A Slightly Cruller Fate (Update Part 4!)

[Shipping][Comedy] (The spelling is intentional)

Author: Katalus Talrius
Description: Luna's sick of all the work she's had to do lately. And one bit of paperwork too many is just enough for her to take the break she deserves, falling straight into the hooves of a certain donut salespony she'd never have met otherwise.

Of course, such an affair is liable to stir the attention of the Equestrian media. And possibly the feelings of the two ponies investigating it...

Man. We really WILL ship anything.

Weird Al reference FTW.

Dosko said...

Ok. Just because of that ridiculous title, I'll bite.

*reading furiously*

Jelfes said...

Never before have I seen a pairing like this, plus 10 points for originality go to you, sir.

KatalusTalrius said...

@Dosko

The title was simply to ridiculous for me to pass up.

KatalusTalrius said...

@Jelfes

What can I use these points on?

Good to see this fic up. Totally looking forward to the continuation, especially if it means more Trolololestia.

Confound these fanfic writers. They put me through such ups and downs. Just ten minutes ago, I was bawling my eyes out (masculinely, of course!) to "Today, Tomorrow, and Forever", and now I'm guffawing my flank off at this gem. FINISH IT!

As an addendum, any writer who can properly do an awkward moment is pretty damn okay in my book. You just got added to that list.

I think the description needs reworking.

Luna didn't 'Fall into' his hooves.

She was fired on a precisely calculated trajectory by somepony with rainbow hair and a crown.

Got to say im looking forward for some more chapters in the future. have to say the story grabs me with a mental image of Luna teleporting and getting sprayed with a fire extinguisher :D

blindredquine said...

The opening scene was simply hysterical: Luna doing the most ridiculously menial tasks that would be handled by a civil servant in a department or a even a cabinet minister?

(Yeah, being a political nerd AND a law school student has really warped my sense of humour.)

((Oh great now I'm imagining a sequel where Luna tries to convince Celestia of a legislative assembly and expanded civil service...and the parliamentary inquiry into Blueblood's family tree.))

And as for the rest of the fic itself (at least so far)...well played. While I might normally think it was a bit soon and abrupt to have Luna like Joe (I guess I read too many rushed fan-fics) I ended up pretty much forgetting it due to the light humour and incredible snappiness of the dialogue. It putters along like a well crafted, three-minute power pop single.

And meddling Celestia is the best Celestia.

>"It's time for a donut"

NO, DAD, NO!!!

ponydoraprancypants said...

Dear Celestia! This is the best, most hilarious fanfic I've ever read. And not just because I'm on my third margarita! I'm still laughing out loud at "too soon?" I'm serious, this is amaazing.

DSNesmith said...

Now we need a Donut x Celestia fanfic.

GWGV said...

Interesting ship. Certainly not one I would have thought of using, but as long as you can make it believable it shouldn't bother me that much.

This line had me rolling:

"Luna," interrupted Celestia, "If you ask 'why would he like me,' I swear to me that I'll send you to the moon right now."
Luna scowled at her sister.
"Too soon?"
"Too soon."

I think this a good start. I love your interpretation of Celestia, kicking her Trollestianess (I know that's not a word) into a comfortable gear. I read way too many fics where she's completely serious, or sad, or tyrannical.

Looking forward to the next parts!

I'm not fond of shipping in general, but Pony Joe's seen so little attention I think I might be able to stand it. He needs more air time in Season 2, definitely.

Jelfes said...

Hahaha, oh man, that was good, I just wish that someponys*cough ponydoraprancypants cough cough GWGV* would warn that they had spoilers in their comments, that dialogue would have been hilarious had it not already been for those certain unnamed ponies...

Great stuff, I've been unintentionally weaning myself off fan-fiction, but this is something not to be passed up.

A half-dozen starving crazed weasels! Weird Al FTW!!!

lanna-kitty said...

Ahahahaha Weird Al ref, Meddling!Celestia, a punny title.

"Too soon?"
"Too soon."

Win. Please finish! It's a very enjoyable read thus far, and I can't wait to see what happens next.

Have five stars, I hope my parcel gets delivered on time.

Dosko said...

You've actually made me like Luna.

I feel dirty now...

Velvet said...

I'm actually eagerly awaiting the next chapter!

La Barata said...

Didn't pony Joe become a Landed Lord after Dear Idiot?

KatalusTalrius said...

@La Barata

I would answer you if I had read that particular fic.

KatalusTalrius said...

@Dosko

That's it, love Luna. You naughty brony.

KatalusTalrius said...

@30eb973c-9d45-11e0-94a7-000bcdcb8a73

If Derpy's delivering, it shouldn't be a problem.

KatalusTalrius said...

@blindredquine

I'm not familiar with about half the words in that comment.

Don't worry, though, I appreciate that you enjoyed, even if it was partly from a different perspective than intended.

And I somewhat agreed as to the semi-rushedness of Luna's affection for PJ, but sometimes, it can't be helped.

And agreed.

I canna wait for the next chapter!

Dennis The Menace said...

Hah! That last punchline nailed me. Luna, gurl, you just got OWNED.

fenril said...

XD trollestia strikes again!!!!

Armageddon said...

Luna glared at Celestia. “You’re mildly evil, you know that?”
“Evil is such a harsh word, Luna. I prefer...‘fun-loving.’”

I expected a "well, Discord called himself fun-loving too." Or some other discord reference, hilarious, cant wait for more!

Nyerguds said...

"two from ignored symptoms of fatal diseases"
lol, brilliant XD

Jordan said...

"Cruller"? Shouldn't the spelling be "Crueler"?

KatalusTalrius said...

@Jordan Cruller is an appropriate spelling. I checked. Thanks, though!

awh said...

Sigh. It looks interesting but I can only read stuff that's hosted on fimfiction.

awh said...

@KatalusTalrius Google Docs and DeviantArt links are fine for people who want to read sitting at their computers, but for those of us who prefer a Kindle or iPad or something, fimfiction is better because there are automatic downloaders/converters for it. We just put the main URL of the story, and every time an update comes out, it downloads and converts automatically and then sends to the Kindle.

Google Docs and DeviantArt are just collections of one-off documents with no real connection to each other, so you can't really write an automatic downloader/converter.
