Hey Forty2, I'm the person who uploaded the promo. Sorry about the exposure: I'm used to uploading Nickelodeon promos, and I think the color on those must be different. However, nothing happened to Fluttershy's cutie mark...it was actually her wings disappearing (you can see the whole thing in the Discord clip that was released).
I wouldn't say that's Pinkamena Diane Pie, because her tail is still fluffy. That's more like Pinkie in the process of eating something. Maybe it is a chocolate rain for real. Or perhaps Discord forced her to eat until she explodes!
I might have guessed that it was raining caramel (about the only thing edible that I can think would go with both apples and popcorn) but Pinky seems to be the only thing that it's actually sticking to.
Fuckhuge apples bending the trees. Popcorn everywhere. Muddy, matted-hair Pinkie apparently not convinced that what she's eating shouldn't be delicious.

Either way, it certainly is looking like "too much of a good thing" with giant apples that threaten to break the trees and popcorn as far as the eye can see.
Spike getting water dumped on him appears to be the only thing in the commercial we haven't seen before. That doesn't seem like something Twilight would do; when he falls asleep, she usually just leaves him (with the exception of the burned book in Owl's Well that Ends Well). I wonder who it is? A Pinkie Pie prank, maybe?
As for the Facebook image: It's no longer raining. The apples are HUGE, and the tree is bent over. If you look back at the Fluttershy picture from a few days ago, you can see the bent tree and large apple there too (which was much less noticeable than it is in this new picture).
I'm starting to agree with the theory that the fluffy stuff on the ground is popcorn. We haven't seen corn growing normally and fluff in the same picture in any of the previous ones they released. Pinkie Pie is eating the popcorn so as not to let it go to waste?
So, the rain causes apples to swell, apple trees to bend, and popcorn to pop, but is harmless to ponies. Or maybe whatever Twilight is doing here causes those effects?

Assuming these screenshots are from the season premiere. It's entirely possible that they're from a later episode. We do know Graynbow Dash is, though, from the date the animation was posted.

Was that second video added to this post recently? All I saw earlier was a screenshot of Pinkie Pie during a credits sequence. A lot more new things in it than the first one, the most interesting of which (to me) is that Scootaloo, Apple Bloom, and Sweetie Belle appear to be outside the hedge maze seen in the Discord video from yesterday. Where *is* this hedge maze, anyway? It certainly doesn't look like anything we've seen around Ponyville.
I can't stop running into season 2 spoilers un-intentionally, it's kinda annoying me now, and I know this picture doesn't count as a spoiler but I thought I'd just speak my mind quickly.

Normally this kind of thing is not such a big deal for me, but in the past I've spoiled things for myself and regretted it, so I'm trying to exercise some restraint this time.

Maybe! Keep in mind that Apple Bloom, Sweetie Belle, and Scootaloo's voice actresses were never adults, and they have aged a year between recordings. They will probably sound a bit older. :)

Let's watch at least 3-4 episodes of Season 2 before we jump to hasty conclusions, yes?
