• Dancing Ponies

Remember this? Apparently this is now a thing.

Mimic12455 has started adapting this dance style to the other ponies as well. So far, he's made a Twilight, a Rarity, a Pinkie Pie, and an Applejack. Apparently he's making them at a rate of one per day, so be sure to check back for more later. If that's your thing. I ain't judging.

    1. @Swoop Well, without misunderstanding, there would be no hate in the world.

@Crunch Oh, no, no, no! Now I have this image in my head that when Discord comes up all ponies switch to using guns and explosives...

      ...Actually that'd be neat.

    2. Guys.
      Sorry, COLTS.

      We're derailing here.
This post is about someone's plans to make a browser based FPS Pillow Fight.

Let's get back on topic. Powerups, Y/N?

      ReplyDelete
    3. @Ikusa GT

So I don't make valid points?

      @Flutterfan

Everything I said is my honest opinion. That game was created by a brony hater, despite that I thought it was a good concept to expand upon.

      ReplyDelete
    4. I think it'd be best to wait for designing powerups until the basic mechanics of the ammo and aiming system are hammered out. Start with the basics, you know?

      ReplyDelete
    5. @Fire.Esper

Nah, too violent. How about phoenix feather grenades?

      ReplyDelete
    6. @DeRockProject Never implied such things(should have used a comma to clarify that.) I was talking about life in general, not you, regardless this whole argument seems to have gotten blown out of proportion.

Everyone just needs to slow their roll a bit.

      ReplyDelete
    7. How about a leveling system? Higher levels unlock more pillow types/colors/achievements/whatever.

      ReplyDelete
    8. that sounds like a good idea, Flutterfan, though that would mean we'd also need to come up with different reserved rooms for every level/level groups. For instance, have a "Novice" room where only levels 1-3 can play against eachother.

We can still let players set up their own rooms, but this way we have a place where newer players are more likely to go against people with roughly the same skill level.

      ReplyDelete
    9. @Crunch

So what's a phoenix feather grenade?

Also, I don't get how we're dividing the team to Applejacks and Rarities.

Unless you meant they'll just be the leaders of their respective teams, then ok.

      ---

Also, all the good, famous MLP games made so far are all a horror genre. Story of the Blanks, Luna Games, and ya remember Super Filly Adventure?

What do you think about that? I'm a fan of grimdark ponies though, so I might be biased.

      ReplyDelete
    10. @NDupree93

Oh, I has an idea. The Elements of Harmony could be the power-ups.

Honesty: Prevents players from using other power-ups for a short period of time.

Generosity: Shares ammo/health to your team mates.

Laughter: The opposite team is frozen in a giggle fit.

Kindness: Aura of healing for nearby teammates.

Loyalty: You take damage in place of nearby teammates but have accelerated regen.

      Magic: Temporary invincibility.

      ReplyDelete
    11. @DeRockProject
I think those are the most popular because they're the most discussion worthy ones that are out. All the big games like Fighting is Magic are still in production, while those games are comparatively easy to make (Not bagging on the work put into 'em, as I can't even begin to fathom trying to program anything, it's just that they're easier to make than a big project like "fighting"). And they each had their own unique things that made them interesting.

Blanks had the whole silent hill feel to it.
Luna games were just so gimmicky and proliferate.
Super Filly had the multiple endings, with tons of people trying to figure out how to get the Blank Flank one.

      ReplyDelete
    12. BTW, you're not... really thinking of making this game are you? How far could we possibly go? It's not an easy thing to do. Making a game...

      Super Filly Adventure

      http://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/579165

A...an RPG (kinda) game with several endings. It's mostly a mediocre, average game until you do some specific stuff and unlock the "Blank Flank" ending. If it weren't for that, it might not have been as memorable. Not that I wouldn't have played it either way. It's a good time killer.

      ReplyDelete
    13. @NDupree93
maybe you could go into fighting areas with no levels to just for fun, for reasons like...I dunno, a newbie wants to fight his friend who has played a while but doesn't want to get ownyd, destroyed, or pwnyd

      ReplyDelete
    14. @DeRockProject

      Phoenix feathers instead of shrapnel.

And you can have entire teams of Applejacks and Rarities just as easily as you can have entire teams of blue spartans and red spartans, Navy SEALS and Spetsnaz, etc etc.

      ReplyDelete
    15. @DeRockProject

Nah, of course not. That would be a huge undertaking and it appears that none of us have the necessary skill set to actually make it. We're just having fun brainstorming.

      ReplyDelete
    16. @NDupree93

Ya, so I wonder if this trend has some meaning, or just a coincidence... If maybe, grimdark makes the game better.

For this game, I think Super Filly Adventure had this right. By now, it might almost be cliche for even this game to be grimdark. So what we should do is have a small part of it that is grimdark. Not the whole thing. Kinda like a homage, I guess?

      ReplyDelete
    17. @DeRockProject
The game posted a while ago had a horror ending?

      ReplyDelete
    18. @DeRockProject
I wouldn't say it makes it "better" perse, just something that's more likely to be talked about.

It's like how "Cupcakes" is arguably the most famous Fanfic out there, despite being rather poorly written. Your game or story doesn't have to be good, it just has to get people talking, and grimdark stuff like that is a good way to get a reaction out of people.

For this game, I don't think it'll be a good idea. Perhaps something in a stage/level design for those inclined, but since it'll be focused on multiplayer, it'll be more about the imagery and sound design than anything story based.

      ReplyDelete
    19. @Flutterfan Yep.

What you have to do is, between ll:00 pm and 5:00 am, talk to everybody until you get all their dialogue, but don't go to the final party. instead, go to the right until you see Zecora.

      Then...it begins.

      ReplyDelete
    20. @Crunch

Aw, cmon... It wouldn't be as epic as the whole Apple family going against...hmm... Rarity's team should have a bunch of celebrities. I'm sure we'll think of something.

Steven Magnet, Photo Finish, Hoity Toity, Sweetie Belle, Sapphire Shores, etc. Ok, that sounds good.

      ---

And ya, since it's just a thought experiment, we can ignore the technogical, skill limitation right?

      @Flutterfan

Yup, it was quite a hassle getting to it, though. Some time during night (IRL of course), Talk to everyone twice, 'unlock' every possible comversation, including talking to Derpy with the good muffin. (of course not the muffin that gives you an alternate ending) Right when you're all ready to start the party, don't talk to Pinkie and go to the Everfree Forest.

      ReplyDelete
    21. @NDupree93
I agree, bad idea to involve grimdark. In this game, anyways.

      ReplyDelete
    22. @NDupree93
because I put the W in wimp, would you mind telling me what happens so I can sleep rather than finding out for myself and getting insomnia.

      ReplyDelete
    23. @NDupree93

Alright, that's a good idea. Since you don't NEED to play in every level, and it's probably enough to please the horror fans.

      Oh, and ninja'd XD

Cupcakes was bad, but you can't say Story of the Blanks was, too. XD I see your point though. Story of the Blanks being a horror game AND the highest scored pony games in EqGaming is probably just more of a coincidence.

      ReplyDelete
    24. @Sabrina Alberghetti

Pony pillow fights, Sibsy. Pony pillow fights.

      ReplyDelete
    25. @Flutterfan
      Alright:

Zecora tells you to go back, but, in classic RPG fashion, the arrow to go back disappears, so you have to go into the everfree forest, which closes up, trapping you inside.

Then you meet luna in there, and she tells you that there's no way out, and that "they" are coming for you both. You continue on and meat what is essentially one of the blanks from Story of the Blanks.

You walk past a few of these, and they whisper evil things at you, until you stumble upon Luna's dismembered corpse. Then the Blanks capture you, and turn you into one of them.

The final screen is Twilight Sparkle entering the forest, wondering where you are, then your zegrofied sprite shoots forward and it cuts to a screen saying that you became a horrifying legend in ponyville, and that nopony ever saw you and lived to tell the tale.

      Sweet Dreams!

      ReplyDelete
    26. @DeRockProject
It doesn't necessarily have to be a coincidence, the human mind seems to enjoy scarring, scaring, taunting, and torturing itself, combining grimdark with your favorite things is a great way to do all those things. I read the edited and fixed up cupcakes, I'm thankful I did to(no applebloom), while I hate that story, I admit it is a good one, I'd give it a high rating because it did what it was supposed to do, although I won't simply because to do that I would have to go to it's page and look at that disturbing image again.

Oh ya! Pillow fights! With Pillow Bazookas, and the ponies are grafted onto tanks!

      @NDupree93

See, it's an awesome homage. And no interruption to the original gameplay, since it happens separately!

      @Flutterfan

hehe, ya. And Silent Ponyville needs more attention. That one's a pony horror AND a masterpiece!

      ReplyDelete
    29. @NDupree93
Also, with all of the cupcakes references I could have sworn it was going to end in a grimdark way...why did Pinkie of all ponies own an enchanted spear?!?!

      ReplyDelete
    30. @Flutterfan
Out of curiosity, did you ever get the "muffin" ending?

      ReplyDelete
    31. @DeRockProject

Grafted?! Sounds painful. They should be chariots at the very least, not tanks.

      ReplyDelete
    32. @NDupree93
no, is it goofy or something, it would make sense since we already had the Scary and Epic endings.

    33. Dancing ponies, flamewar, pillow fights, creepy game endings, a guest appearance from sibsy, how else can we improve this?

      ReplyDelete

Remember when you said 'No one listens to me, then an hour later ...'?

Yes, well, this is well over an hour later and i'm still tellin' you.

      ReplyDelete
    35. @Flutterfan
It's pretty goofy. What you do is, you make a baked bad when you go to cook muffins with AJ, then take it to Derpy all the way on the left.

She tastes the muffin, loves it, and you find out your Cutie Mark is for baking muffins! Then a dragon attacks Ponyville, destroys a bunch of buildings, and you all the while are trying to get people to try your muffins.

Afterwards, you start your own muffin shop amongst the burnt out houses, and Derpy becomes your #1 customer.

      ReplyDelete
    36. @Flutterfan

Ya, it's not worth the trouble trying to get that ending. I got it anyway, but I had to go through so many trials because of my mistakes.

And ya, Pinkie Pie red herring. It got me.

      @Crunch

GRAFTED!!! Well, it's an idea I suggested to the guy who made that "Pony Slaying" animation. I said that should be what the Pony Tanks are. He never really commented on that... Man, I do worse things to ponies than he does...

      ReplyDelete

ill admit there are the freakshows out there but..look at the culture here....the same freakshows exist....

i would have NEVER expected this from a bunch of ponys...i refuse to consider anyone here who is HATING on furs a brony..you do NOT deserve the tittle as a brony ....look at where a good portion of your favorite art comes from before you step back up and call yourself a brony....and ill say the same thing to a fur hating on a brony...if you cant open the hell up and LEARN before you speak you dont deserve any title above trolling human....and i reserve the right to calling someone a human asa HUGE insult

furs and bornys are so much the same it boggles my mind....furs have been here longer so as bronys we will ALWAYS be in there shadow and ALWAYS be a subculture inside of it...learn to love and accept it.....if you did youd make more friends find more art and belive it or not...have more incommon than you want to think about

as for the comments of "opening" FA and being worried about its implications and ramifications of peers trashing you openly..your in the closet hiding..come out or QUIT USING THE NET IN PUBLIC PLACES!!!!!

this wolf-pony is going to saunter off into the shadows and watch from the rocks and bushes and stare at the moon curled up around luna....

I got introduced to the show in early summer when they started up "My Little Brony" on Memebase. I kept seeing all these jokes and memes, and the stuff about Bronies, and around the end of July I got curious as to what the hub-bub was about and started watching the episodes.

About a week later I'd seen the entire first season, and was FINALLY understanding all the jokes on MLB. Eventually I started visiting EQD, and here I am today, 36,000 words into an MLP fanfic.

    49. It's a long and complicated story. I subscribed to MasterLinkX when I was a little kid. Recently he started filling his YT page with ponies. FULL of them. I checked one of his episodes out and

I was FASCINATED at how My Little Pony DIDN'T make me puke! Amazing! It's an incredible improvement to what it used to be! Now it's just an average show! Holy shit!

Later I go to TVTropes and I looked at the fanfic recommendations. 90% of them linked to EqD. So I checked this place out and it's pretty cool. And whatever stuff happened.

I found it through...cupcakes, and...other messed up stuff, And on memebase, way before the my little brony site, I decided to watch one episode (I still remember my first episode was "over a barrel"), laughed at how gay it was, watched another did the same, watched another, went through a crisis(like a boss), realized it wasn't gay and the real reason I kept watching was because it was the best thing ever, became a brony.

      ReplyDelete

...contact me when you finish it. PLEASE. ZOMG Slender Man!!!

GRR I AM BACK TO BEING ANGRY AGAIN!!! ARGH!!!!!

I guess I'm not exactly a brony then. NOPE GUYS! Sorry! I'm not actually a brony! I'm just a simple FiM fan!

One question though, I don't get why furries are always so damn creepy. I mean, if it's almost any other fetish, it's cool. Yet, for some reason, furry art always kinda hurts me T.T

      ReplyDelete
    54. I'm still open to the idea that I might be watching FiM because it's RIGHT on the "So bad it's good" mark. Some parts are genuinely good. But some parts I love making fun of. And I find these to be good discussion topics with other bronies.

      ReplyDelete

      ReplyDelete
    70. @Tańka

Umm... that doesn't have anything to do with what we're talking right now. Or we're talking about how ponies are adorable?

So how do you technically be a furry? So... technically you can say you're not a furry.

I can't know whether you're a guy or a girl, so if you're gay, get the fuck off me. And if you're a girl, and you think I'm cute, you still need to look good or GET THE FUCK OFF ME. If you're really a furry,GETTHEFUCKOFFME.

No that flirting just appeared completely out of nowhere...

      ReplyDelete
    71. @DeRockProject
Technically, as in, anthromorphism is my stylistic preference when it comes to artistic expression. I do not view "furry" as lifestyle, I do not find "furry" characters sexually attractive, yet I'm still labelled a "furry" by both "furries" and non-"furries" alike. I probably fit your definition of a "furry" as well, hence the "technically" part. And apparently /most/ furries hate bronies, which I do not, despite (technically) being a furry.

And you continue being adorable, I could just pinch your little cheeks.

      ReplyDelete
    72. @Tańka

      ...
      ...
Wow... and here I'm trying to avoid a conflict. See? People say I'M the one causing all these fights. Truth is it's always as if furries WANT to be punched in the face or something. Whenever someone says they're a furry, what happens next is they always do things that piss me off for no apparent reason.

What exactly do you mean by MY definition of furries?

Hey, why are furries so damn creepy?

Why are YOU being so fucking creepy? See, I was JUST about to go to sleep! Then YOU show up and say a bunch of gay flirting shit, and I'm just hoping this ISN'T what I think it is. And now I'm just fucking terrified!

Yknow, I'm typing all this, but I really don't know how to respond to that.

      ReplyDelete
    73. @Tańka
You know what? I wrote this giant comment, but really, I have no idea how to reply to that. I mean that last sentence. I kinda slept through that first paragraph.

I really need to sleep. But I can't sleep because you. You're fucking scary as shit. Think about what the fuck you wrote there on that last part. What the fuck is that supposed to mean?

      ReplyDelete
    74. @DeRockProject

Yeah, after giving it some thought; sorry for stirring up another conflict, but I don't think the original one ever got resolved (and it probably never will, seeing how well other pony versus furry discussions went).

No need to be creeped out, either: I just find you adorable because you are one of those people who are a living proof that no matter how self-righteously confident of their superiority a group is (doesn't matter if it's furry, brony, trekkie or anything else, really), they all end up having the same types of members in them. Upon deconstructing furries and bronies as groups (or fandoms, or whatever), both represent the same types of behaviour and the same amount of malice towards the other, despite bronies claiming to be the morally superior ones. That's all.

That being said, I like both bronies and furries.

And to make this post relevant to this thread: I do enjoy the dancing Applejack.

      ReplyDelete
    77. @Tańka

Sorry. I'm tired to say much, but I just want to know why neither bronies or furries try anything to keep their image. And I'm not saying pretending to be what you're not or shit like that.

People LIE about you guys. Like saying we're all freaks who get sexually aroused by furries and ponies. You're just gonna let false rumors like that go around?!

Gah... I don't want to be a brony. I HATE BEING A BRONY. Why did I have to end up knowing about this show and you guys. I wish I was just another person who when hears about bronies will say 'that's disgusting' and stuff. And will never have anything to do with them and move on. Sounds so simpler.

Man, I must really be sleepy now. Didn't even notice anyone posted until like 10 minutes later or something.

For that same matter, I'm going paranoid. So ya I need some sleep.

      Sorry.

Hey, hi there. I was just about to end this conversation. (for the second time)

Do you want me to continue?

    81. Not conveyed in text in how fucking tired I am right now.

So let's get over this and stop insulting me. Asshole.

    82. You know what, screw this. It's not like me to leave with a loose thread lying around, but I just don't have the energy. I give up.

      ReplyDelete
    83. @DeRockProject: "You're just gonna let false rumors like that go around?!"

Well, as I mentioned in an earlier comment, there's not a lot we can do to stop people from rumormongering and stereotyping; there just seems to be something programmed into humans so that, by default, we want to mock and vilify those who are different from us.

You're convinced that (nearly) all furries hate bronies and act in ways that creep you out. I've mentioned that I'm a furry and that I don't hate bronies, and hopefully I haven't creeped you out; that's not going to change your mind about furries as a whole, but I hope you can acknowledge that I'm not like the furries you rage against, even though I am a furry.

Similarly, if I run across any brony haters, I can only hope they'll judge me based on my actions and not on whatever stereotypes they've chosen to believe in; I doubt I can get anyone to change their minds about bronies as a whole, but if I can at least get them to accept me as I am, that's victory enough for me.

My facepalm comment wasn't directed at you or any one specific commenter, but at the continued growth of this thread as a whole. Sorry about the misunderstanding.

    85. I'm enjoying this waaaaaaaay more than I probably should :)

I'm saying this waaaaaaay more than I probably should.

      lol...ponies.

    86. @Tańka Good old hypocrisy, in short.

People would like to be better, would like to be good to others, would like to be nicer and kinder and happiness and sunshine and butterflies... But when it comes to walking the talk, things can change.

Thankfully, not for all of us.

@DeRockProject If you don't want people to assign false stereotypes to you, you could start by not using ones yourself.

At least, in the end, you won't have to say "Well, you're just as bad as I am."

      Not overreacting would also work.

      ReplyDelete
    87. @DeRockProject The video basically said "Challenge that call, nah, nah, nah,we don't like that call not a very good call"
Essentially I disagree with the so bad it's good notion. If that were the case you would hear that more from people within the fandom. Also you need to learn to be apathetic when it comes to certain things like this. Worrying about what people who don't like the fandom and show say will do no good for you. Address those issues when they approach you but other than that just focus on the show and have fun. Doing this will allow you to enjoy the fandom. Seriously this whole mess was blown out of proportion over dancing marshmellow ponies. Come on.

      That's my take Ikusa out.

    88. The hilarious thing is, there was a pony banner on FA for like, less then a week and it had people raging even harder then YOU guys are raging about links to FA!

      "It amused me."

    89. @aramaru
Why were they raging? what did they say.

    90. You guys are being a bunch of silly heads.

    91. That being said, the animations could use some work. The motion is a little jarring. Cute though!

      ReplyDelete
    92. I'm not all that impressed with the look of the dancing ponies, but then again, it is hard to have them standing and dancing and not look slightly odd.

      ReplyDelete
    93. Is this the Official Brony dance now? If I go out and see a group of people doing this dance should I assume they are all bronies?

      ReplyDelete
    94. Pillow fights... That and the actual ponies were the only worthwhile topics discussed here.

But since I like worthless discussion (insert  if you must), I must say that I discovered ponies by lurking in FA forums (although after that I never got back to FA again).
Also worth mentioning that I never saw a SINGLE R#34 image through the whole month I lurked there and that most people at the forums seemed disgusted with R#34 art (yiff, more precisely).

Back on topic, the animation is really nice, but it seems a little bit stiff - especially Rarity's (while Twi's seems the smoothest).

The main character of the, now over, animated series "King of the hill".
He's basically your average redneck, sometimes overly concerned parent who would probably make his son (Bobby) watch five years of football and other so-called manly things if he even mentioned this show.

'I'd say the opposite that it's better you respect them. But attack them out of necessity. We really need to fight back. And not like some immature kid either. Good counter-arguments can be made, if that's what you mean.'

I'd rather not see any of us escalate petty Internet slapfights. I don't really care if certain furries want to 'attack' bronies, as the whole concept of attacking another group online is stupid to begin with. Let them keep the drama to themselves, there's no need for us to play their game

I guess, yeah. But it became so apparent after this FA brony banner conflict recently, it's almost amusing in a sad way: furries attacking bronies and bronies attacking furries here...it's like both groups use the exact same stock arguments against one another. And I just can't see what the fuss is all about, because when it comes down to it: both furries and bronies enjoy lines on paper- doesn't matter if said lines are in the shape of Bugs Bunny or Rainbow Dash. Both groups appreciate a fantasy.
I guess what I mean is- it is possible to co-exist without flinging crap at eachother. Plus, it's just silly to argue over one's preferences in animated shows or artistic style. Seriously now.

And when it comes to stereotypes- it's pretty impossible to fight them, sadly. All groups have their black sheep: despite (technically) being a furry, I still find some of the things coming from the furry fandom unsettling, but it's the same with the pony fans, really. And it's a well-known fact that those, hm, "weirder" people are more vocal and tend to be noticed more than the "casual" fans- it's only natural that general public's opinion will be based on the behaviour of those members of the fandom who are the loudest and most willing to discuss their (sometimes questionable) interests openly. We can only hope that there are people out there who are willing to make an effort of getting to know something/someone before judging it/them.

And I'm really sorry that I was so bitchy to you, DeRockProject. You just reminded me of someone, except they were a furry speaking against bronies overtaking the furry fandom.
You also seem to base your negative opnion about furries mainly on one person (that Earthworm guy)- while there are members of the fandom in this thread alone who also consider themselves to be bronies, and your accusations ("furries call us pussies", or something) simply do not apply to them. That should be enough food for thought right there.

Children don't really tend to see past what the characters are, they may find it cute or amusing that the characters are talking animals.
Anthropomorphism gives an almost magical appeal to (especially younger) children.

But yes, they could be considered furry. Just nobody calls them that, they're not specific to it, they grow out of it (most of them) and they're not usually part of any fandom, especially not the genre fandom of "furry".

Anyway, since I ended up back here.

I'm sorry. I'm sorry about whatever I'm supposed to be sorry about. I'm not sure which I should apologize and which behavior I shouldn't and keep defending, but just take that anyway you want. Meaning, I'm sure I did a few... 'wrong' things back there. But I don't know which. I just know there's probably something I should apologize.
