although this same story has been told numerous times through other fanfiction and comics this one was well done nonetheless. ps the pink hair thing isnt new. if i remember right its from an old fanfic i never cared to read. id like this story to be told as canon for one of the last episodes.
I was so going to use something like this in my fic. Now if I do, it'll look unoriginal. Confound you! (Just kidding, this was good! Though, now I have to find out what I'm going to write instead...)
And I don't give a sniff if that was a clichéd interpretation or not, I thought that was lovely. Beautiful art and good use of the paneling, et cetera. And yes, that last bit of dialogue was quite touching... *sniffle*
For those wondering why Celestia has pure pink hair, watch the first episode again. In the "storybook" segment she's depicted as looking that way; presumably when she was younger, she was both smaller (like Luna) and didn't have the flowing mane. Or it wasn't mulitcolored yet, at least.
Wow, wasn't expecting to almost tear up over anything involving Celestia. Definitely has an emotional gut punch at the end. And it's also well thought out so that it makes sense with the show.
When I got to the panels of Nightmare Moon laughing, I stopped, turned on "Lunar Eclipse" by Derpy Hooves, and started over from the beginning, timing it so that it would match up. It was badass.
And then Luna's "I'm so sorry..." echoed over the ending, and damn. Damn. It was beautiful.
Somepony needs to set this comic to that song in a video, stat.
*Celestia looks at her hair* You're RIGHT! My hair is awesome! So what if my sister's gone for a thousand years! I have rockin' hair! *and thus, Trollestia was born*
Is this what had been accepted as the story behind Celestia, or is it just based on that one Fanfic? As in, is that what Faust said happened? Cause there was nothing at all on the show that depicted it like that, but there are several things on the web that show her mane like that. At least here in Equestria Daily

Ooohh, this looks good.
that... was sorta cliche, but props for drawing
... That was cliche, but the last few lines seem to have more meaning than these stories normally do.
Goddamn this was the only comic that's really given me an emotional feeling.
Now I just feel bad.
doesn't phoe normaly handle comics? or am i being an idiot again
That was awesome.
Uh... Best backstory of Celestia's hair so far?
but this title should be used for the last episode of Ponies ever.
NNOOOOOO, why so sad?! I can't handle Celestia being millenia alone...
MY EYES!!!!
I CANT SEE THROUGH THE TEARS!
as if I was watching a Sailor Moon episode :D but with positive feelings. :>
Ah, love seeing Celestia pre-crazy divine wind hair. Plus its backstory! Cliché schmiché!
That's pretty much how I always imagined it would've happened. Except for the pink hair, that caught me off by a long shot.
The balls are inert
I prefer the idea that the elements were originally other ponies, but this is pretty good.
Did Nightmare just shoot through the stone roof? Seems like it'd hurt.
*manly tears flowing* damn that's so sad
@Traxen
dude it's magic...
:c *hugs Celestia* I feel sad for her and good way to explain her hair being what it is today lol.
Yeah, you lost your sister, but on a positive note you have GREAT hair now.
makes me sad *sniff* great work though
That was awesome! Great work! I'd kill to see something like this on the actual show.
Its a good story, told well. What more could you want? I for one think it is awesome. :)
Sad :( Very nicely made and drawn though
We need a direct to video prequel dammit!
The origin of Celestia's fabulous hair demands it!
Celestia's hair backstory > Magneto's helmet backstory
I skimmed over like 80% of the comic because it was so... cliche. Can't think of a different word
But the last few panels were kind of sad. Princess Celestia, alone

@cheesa
Wish I'd thought of that line...
Really well-done comic, particularly the ending.
@cheesa
If this was YouTube this would be the top comment.
This was incredibly sad, very well done.
By the way, I'm not getting any Twitter updates. Seth, are you having problems with Twitter or something?
Last panels = Most. Sad. Story. Today.

@The GREAT and POWERFUL Trevor
just a question you don't have per chance a deviant account do you?
Very nicely done, and nice idea of why celestia couldn't use the elements a second time when she returns.

That wraps up every possible plothole in the story that I can think of!
Why? Why do you have to make me so happy to be sad?!
@Anonymous
I'm inclined to agree dearest!

Very nice.
If Only This Was Canon...
This is my Headcannon...
Best back story to how Celestia gained her hair! This has to become fanon!

This is the best MLP comic I have ever read.
I love how Celestia's hair goes from solid pink to the rainbow of colors we know. It's little things like that that make me love this.
I've read sadder. Still, not bad.
Eh, not the best I've ever seen, but good. And it used that "mane used to be pink" silliness in an original way, which definitely deserves credit.
Felt a little cliché, but good.
That was so... so...
I have no words to describe this.
I just love the explanations to Celestia's hair the useless Element Stones.
It made me d'aw.
As any one in procurement will tell, always have multiple suppliers for a given part. Celestia should have had a backup supplier of friendship.
Wow, wasn't expecting to almost tear up over anything involving Celestia. Definitely has an emotional gut punch at the end. And it's also well thought out so that it makes sense with the show.
I...oh.... *cries*
Aww, this is so sad. Well done. Poor Celestia.
I think I've seen few other comics like this. It seems this is a popular scene for the pony artists out there.
Panel five: "An A.T. Feild!?".
I don't think I've ever seen this explanation of why the elements lost their power so I don't really get the "cliche" comments, but w/e.
I'm with Flavin Bagel, cliché schmiché!
When I got to the panels of Nightmare Moon laughing, I stopped, turned on "Lunar Eclipse" by Derpy Hooves, and started over from the beginning, timing it so that it would match up. It was badass.

I'm going to hate myself for saying this, but: IT'S A STONE CELESTIA! YOU DIDN'T MAKE IT!
So baked right now.
These comics just keep getting better and better.
I love you guys.
Aww, kinda sad. :( Nice comic though.
Oh brother! not this again!
but nice!
very nice comic, well done
Tragic but very well done.
When you combine this with the explanation given durring the season 2 premier it makes alot of sense.
