It was amusing, and not long enough that it outstayed its welcome, so to speak.
Personally the bit I found funniest was Pinkie's instant assumption about Twist's motives.

I knew it was a bad idea to read this, but that Comedy tag drew me in. That ending was NOT COOL. It was funny, though, In a way, but I think I'll go back to staying away from Shipping stories. Ugh, that mental image... X[

I got over the WTF pretty quickly and LOLz took over. XD I love that shipping chart and things that can come out of it. The crack shipping that caught my eye on that thing was Cheif ThunderhoovesXTwist but TwistXGummy is pretty funny as well.

Eh, shipping could be worse, there was that one time with that guy and the roof of his house, and that girl and her wooden stick. But that's another fandom, so I won't get too into that. Those guys were crazy.
I love how Twist thinks with a lisp, that made me laugh. This was made for comedy, so people probably shouldn't take it too seriously.

It's a joke, not a sign that the fandom is going down the drain. If you want a sign that the fandom is getting worse, check out that ponies in socks fad, it's starting to get better, but at one point they were being shown as fetish pics.
Compared to that, a joke fic about TwistxGummy is nothing.

I found this quite amusing.
Okay, that ending was a little much, but I still got a laugh out of the story. Still, not a shipping I ever expected. Or ever would have. I'm sure Twist can do better than Gummy. Like, say, something sentient. But still, an amusing idea, though thankfully short.
Honestly, I didn't find this funny. It was well written, but there were only two jokes: Twist's lisp and alligator affection, which both got pretty old after a while. Maybe if Pinkie put a bomb in Gummy that could only be disarmed with intimate mouth-to-mouth contact...

And the difference between whether or not something is a joke, is if what meant to be funny. So, if someone used your example, but tried to be funny about it, then yes, it would be a joke.
The quality of the joke has no bearing on whether or not it is a joke.

This was a joke. It is not meant to be taken seriously. If you were truly offended that a fictional child made out with a fictional alligator (who is only 1 year old, I might add!), then you really, really need to reevaluate some things in your life.
Anyways, I thought this story was pretty hilarious. It had good pacing, and Twist thinking with a lisp was awesome. I demand more shipping chart insanity!

Very well written though, I commend the author for that. I didn't really take it as him/her trolling everyone, I just thing he/she looked at the shipping chart, saw the shipping pair "Tummy", and went "Hmmm... No one's ever made THAT fic before... How would that wor- Well it can't REALLY work, but how can I at least make a comedy out of it?..." and thus, we have the fic we've read today. -_-

Oh, I saw the comedy tag, stalwart defenders. It just wasn't that great a comedy. The idea could've been done fairly well, but the critical thing is that it WASN'T.

...Okay, it wasn't THAT bad. It was actually even good, kinda. I was expecting something MUCH worse after reading the comments. And while I wasn't happy with that kiss at the very end, it still was much more acceptable than the punchline of the Skittles fanfic.
Let's say, 4/5. Well-written, has a few nice moments, and feels like a generally not bad joke, but nothing beyond that.

...but... forgetting the doubtful ''comedy''... It was, more or less, an 'ok' (and short) story...
I mist be missing something, but /in the context of what went on before/ how is them kissing a big deal? It was already pretty silly and out there before that.
