@BagOfChipsCan we just not feed him, tolerate the fact that he doesn't like anything about this event, and move back to celebrating?
ReplyDeleteI thought turning the other flank was supposed to be our specialty.
@Techercizer
ReplyDelete>can we not feed him
But I'm not angry.
@loki
ReplyDeletetoo bad your thread was just a copy of mine ;)

@loki\
ReplyDeleteNo actually, I made this thread first http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o8WrKIvSEWI&feature=player_embedded,but I made that one as well. So it's not like it matters. :D
My brother: Paul. It's the end of the world.
ReplyDeleteMe: Why?
Brother: Steven Colbert just said "brony".
Me: ....awesome.
@Swweet
ReplyDeleteBut it has 4x the views and isn't a giant flame fest.
I have to agree with 9:45 PM Anonymous.
ReplyDeleteI'm a fan of the show myself, but just seeing this just makes me irked by the fanbase because honestly, he/she has a point.
You're all shoving this show everywhere into everyone's face, when it really isn't necessary. First it was getting the show to be the number one meme on "Know Your Meme," and now it's trying to get it featured on Wikipedia.
This though? Really? Colbert made an brief comment about "bronies" for the sake of you guys all gathering and spamming to win it.
Seriously, what is the big deal?
Really, it's getting sad at this point and I can't wait until the 2nd season to come so that all of you will at least be slightly distracted and not shoving this show into people's faces every chance you get.
Also, he/she also had a point with the presentation videos.
The physic video was neat, but the rest were terrible and just jumping on a bandwagon. "Oh hey, I have a Y chromosome and I watch a children's show!"
Really, again, I like this show too, but really, guys. Isn't enough, you know, enough?
Jeez.
@HavahdYahdWhoops, wrong URL http://www.ponychan.net/chan/pony/res/35724230.html

ReplyDeletebetter resolution
and why, pray tell, is seeking attention automatically a BAD thing?
ReplyDelete@Anonymous
ReplyDeleteHe gave a ten second shout out.
How is that shoving it in everyone's face?
@BagOfChipsTrue, shame things happen that way ;_;
ReplyDeletePerhaps I did affect it in some way though...
This link has a higher-quality version (for as long as Viacom lets it stay up, anyway): http://tinyurl.com/42n5pdt
ReplyDelete(Apologies if this comes through a few times. Damn browser.)
Yeah, really anons. What's with all the rage?
ReplyDeleteBe happy.
@Anonymous
ReplyDeleteHere's a counterpoint. I would never have even heard about My Little Pony if Know Your Meme hadn't featured it several times and NPR hadn't asked President Clinton about the show. So I'm actually glad that everypony is making an effort to spread the word because otherwise people who might like the show might never hear about it.
I can KINDA see where the Anons are coming from, but kinda not. I see this as a fun little shout out, but not a huge victory or anything.
ReplyDelete@Anonymous
ReplyDeleteFUN RUINER, FUCK YOU
I like the smell of WORLD DOMINATION in the morning.
ReplyDelete@Anonymous
ReplyDeleteThat's not very friendly or magical of you.
Someone give him the hat and cape, since he is the Great and Powerful Coltbert.
ReplyDeleteThe main goal of many bronies is to spread the magic of ponies into every crevice of the internet and everything awesome, like Colbert. Even if they don't know of this goal themselves.
ReplyDeleteWhich is alright with me, because Friendship is Magic.
@Love and Toleration
ReplyDeleteI'm noticing a distinct polarization of friendship and tolerance in this discussion.
@Anonymous
ReplyDeleteI get excited when I see the show mentioned in places I wouldn't expect, because I really like the show and I like it when something happens that might bring in more fans (or more haters, because they're pretty entertaining in their own right).
I don't usually work it into normal conversations, but if it comes up I'll act like it's the most normal thing in the world. Usually because that's the best way to create interest, since I'm a self-professed jock who, judging by physical attributes, is the last person you'd ever expect to be into something like this.
tl;dr we like ponies and we like seeing other people like ponies. Telling us we're childish for it will accomplish nothing except for giving you an opportunity to puff your chest out and say you're more mature than us. Me, I don't give a fuck either way. It's the Internet; whatcha gonna do?
@Techercizer
ReplyDeleteIndeed.
I like the smell of WORLD DOMINATION in the morning.
ReplyDelete@BagOfChips
ReplyDelete...
Did you honestly just ask me that? It's one of the most watched comedy shows on television, it was shoved into millions of people's faces.
Seriously, I'm not hatin' I'm just saying that you guys shouldn't attempt to shove "My Little Pony: FiM" every time there's some sort of contest.
Really, because now, like that Seth Green picture, this is going to be shoved into the faces of people who don't like the show as some sort of verification for watching it.
That's all.
Knowing Colbert, this won't be the last mention. Especially once he/his writers see our reaction and/or actually look into what a "brony" is for themselves (and I bet they will after a such an out-of the-blue acknowledgement). Assuming he does so, he'll realize what a lulzcow he's stumbled upon right away. 20 bucks says he comes here, sees the ponified version of himself, and mentions it on the show as if we were paying tribute to him or something. That's exactly the type of thing his character would love.
ReplyDelete@staplesponge
ReplyDeleteColtbert Pony on Drawball?
Too much FUCK YEAR MURKA about now everywhere. Colbert Report isn't funny to me at all, since it satirises something I do not live in. So I don't get what the big fuss is about or why the bloody yanks have to have their flag everywhere.
ReplyDeleteI bet you wouldn't throw up the Belgian or British or French flag if one of the biggest TV shows from there mentioned the word 'brony', and if you did then it would probably be put on a stereotype.
@Anonymous 10:23
ReplyDeleteStephen Colbert often uses Americana imagery, parodying the over the top nationalism and patriotism often found among Conservative pundits in the U.S. That's why the Coltbert pony has an American flag on his desk.
@ Angry Anonymous
ReplyDeleteIt doesn't matter if Colbert was a fan, it doesn't matter if he was asked, he did this on T.V where everybody saw. This simple Shout-out is not only going to make us more popular, he probably just pushed himself a lot higher gaining a few fans himself. This is a WIN-WIN situation, so why are you hating?
Colbert sure jumped in my book, not just because of a brony shout-out but rather he had the balls to do it and not care. You don't get many people who respects their fans like this.
@ Angry Anons If you hadn't already noticed we are on a Global internet conquest
ReplyDeleteI sort of expected him to pick up on it sooner or later, but it still blows my mind. Stephen is one the funniest comedians out there and this is coming from someone who isn't even american!
ReplyDeleteStephen! Stephen! Stephen! STEPHEN! STEPHEN!
...I'm having difficulty understanding how a ten-second mention at the start of Colbert's show, whose meaning probably 99% of his audience probably didn't even get, is going to make people hate the MLP fanbase.
ReplyDeleteOh EqD news posts, you never cease the fun drama, do you? :P
This is awesome.
ReplyDeleteI imagine people looking online for "bronies", watching a few episodes, and then becoming bronies themselves. :D
I wonder....I wonder when the first episode on MenloMarseilles' channel is going to hit 2,000,000 views? :)
@Anonymous
ReplyDeleteStephen Colbert's on-stage persona is a parody of overpatriotic conservatives. That's the whole point.
I don't see why people are mad over a 15 sec segment
ReplyDeleteAWWWWWWWWWWW
ReplyDeleteYEAAHHHHHHHH
Let's get some LOVE and TOLERANCE in this comment section bronies. Chill out.
ReplyDeleteFucking hipsters, trying to keep ponies underground. God help us if cancer is ever cured by a hipster.
ReplyDelete@Anonymous
ReplyDeleteI'm not mad about it.
Just slightly annoyed really.
@Anonymous
ReplyDelete"If you hadn't already noticed we are on a Global internet conquest."
Now, see, this is the sort of attitude that's annoying. Don't make it some conquest, really, don't.
@Anonymous I do hope you know I was being facetious about a Global conquest in fact most people are just kidding when they say they want to take over the world.
ReplyDeleteIv never heard of this guy.
ReplyDeleteBut regardless woohoo!
I'd like to derail the current discussion to bitch about anonymous posters.
ReplyDelete~
What the fuck, people? I mean, even if you don't want to register any sort of account, you can still just type in a name or something. I find it supremely difficult, and in some cases outright impossible, to follow discussion in these comments because there's so many freaking anons. /end rant
~
Carry on.
@Anonymous
ReplyDelete"Now all of America knows you're here."
"...perfect."
@Xort
ReplyDeleteYeah, I know what you mean.
After all, you have no way of knowing if they're all the same person, or actually different people.
Although, being Anonymous does have its advantages.
Sincerely,
Seth/Cereal/Phoe/Xort/Nova/Pen Stroke/Whoever else you can think of that would be fun to impersonate.
It's pretty obvious it's just one anonymous guy and his sick puppets...
ReplyDeleteWe like spreading the word deal with it.
@ Xort
ReplyDeleteOh cool, didn't realise you could do that ... WOOOO, I have a name for my comments now!
In unrelated news, I think what happened is kind of cool. And props to Xort for how he conducted his thread on the Colbert forums (I've mentioned this before, but as an Anon so wanted to have my tag on this one)
I'm sad I missed it. Colbert is Awesome!
ReplyDeleteAs far as I'm concerned, there's nothing wrong whatsoever with spamming up the Internet with ponies, reason being that when someone posts ponies online, they doing so in what is effectively a public space, meaning that even if bronies ARE shoving ponies into people's faces, they are only doing so in the same way that someone sticking up fliers on lamp posts or a guy on a street corner with a megaphone spruiking some product is.
ReplyDeleteFrom what I've seen so-far, bronies have been largely A-OK in their actions. They could do to avoid filling up a given forum with multiple pony threads and things of that nature, but they'll only truly be doing something wrong if they began to invade people's PRIVATE lives, such as if they were to go out and start esconding people in the street or in their houses the way Jehova Witnesses and other religious folks who send their representatives door-to-door do. It would also be wrong for bronies to start a telemarketing division (ridiculous as that idea might sound), for instance.
But on the Internet, no matter how badly a forum or an imageboard or even an inbox gets spammed, no one is FORCING you to be interested in ponies and indeed, for the most part one can be rid of them with just a few clicks of the mouse.
Just my ten cents...
Also, I love how the Anon at 10:05 PM hopes that season 2 will distract us all from posting ponies. Effectively, then, he's hoping that the tide of ponies can be stemmed with MORE PONIES! XD
@Anonymous
ReplyDeleteI love you too.
Even trolls need love.
Just now got around to watching Colbert. I hadn't loaded EqD in a few hours, so I was completely blown away by the opening (I had to play it twice to make sure I heard it him right)!!!
ReplyDeleteAnd, yeah, colbertnation.com will have it in a few hours, but until then...seriously bronies??? Does nopony complaining about the avalibility of the clip and such use a bittorrent client? I've been seeding the episode in HD for two hours now, along with several thousand other folks. Use Google sometime, dudes...
YES!!! Recognition from Colbert is all we needed for me to declare Victory.
ReplyDeleteI see this as pure win. Not because we have achieved some sort of global dominance, or because we brainwashed a famous individual, but because a good, likeable comedian gave a very small acknowledgment to a group of people who happen to enjoy a cartoon, enough so to build this ridiculous fanbase.
ReplyDeleteI would certainly not put it past Stephen to have seen MLP:FIM, in all honesty. He may be a comedian, but he is also a father of three young children, and a die-hard family man. Yes, bronies did bombard one of his websites, and yes, we have been making a name for ourselves, but it was probably his own children who introduced him, perhaps inadvertently, to this fanbase.
So rejoice, fellow Bronies, in this, albeit brief, acknowledgment by Stephen Colbert himself.
-Joe
@BlasTech
ReplyDeleteWell, it wasn't my thread actually. I was heading there to make one and some badass had already beat me to it, so I just entered his and started posting :)
@Triarii
ReplyDeleteA Brony telemarketing division?
Its so crazy, its brilliant!
Somepony, get to work on this!
@Anonymous
ReplyDeleteOh dear Celestia, WHAT HAVE I DONE!? D:
Seriously though, the way a lot of these comments are talking about this shoutout rather reminds me of Sarcaster Gamer's "Halo 3 Hoedown", only replace, "When Bungie finally gives us Halo 3" with, "When Colbert finally mentions us bro-nies":
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kvanJYOGlus
This is so much victory-er!
ReplyDelete@ Xort
ReplyDeleteI stand corrected, however you were the first to actually explain the fandom clearly if i remember correctly.
Now if someone can just teach me how to reply to a specific comment then my life will be complete. I can never seem to locate a reply button except to the first comment on any page :P

ReplyDeleteI seriously love you guys :D
@BlasTech
ReplyDeleteYou just click the "Reply" button next to the post you want to respond to :)
Who in godsname is Steven Colbert.
ReplyDelete@Xort
ReplyDeleteHerp didn't process your whole post till after I posted myself >_>
I dunno, a friend of mine had the same issue and we couldn't figure out what was wrong.
@Xort
ReplyDeleteI just wanted to say that I loved your thread and you did an AMAZING job with that troll. You make me proud. I am glad that you represented us in that thread and would not hesitate to have you represent us again.
@Filiecs
ReplyDeleteYou flatter me :)
@AnonymousMaybe the shoutout was ONLY BECAUSE of the bad press from Fox and NPR...
ReplyDeleteNext... Obama!
ReplyDeleteWatched it and as soon as I heard "Bronies" come out of his mouth my jaw dropped! Not sure if this will be a good thing or a bad thing though...
ReplyDeleteFull episode is up on the site now!
ReplyDeleteawesome, just awesome
ReplyDeleteHeh, nice.
ReplyDeleteI *love* the banner, too. :)
:D SO HAPPY. Don't know if should explode, or explode twice.
ReplyDeleteI'm not really sure about this.
ReplyDeleteI have only seen like two shows from Colbert (I live in Europe) so I can't really judge the magnitude of this.
However, I do hear his show is damn popular, so I guess this is a very big thing :P
And in this case, I'm starting to think ponies are getting out of control. :P
I still wonder if this craze will ever stop and if so, when, and how. Anyways I'm going to enjoy every last second of it as long as it lasts :)
In the words of Twilight Sparkle:
ReplyDeleteYES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES
BRONY IS ACTUALLY THE MOST EPIC THING ON THE INTERNET!!!
ReplyDeleteI was in the studio audience. They do a question and answer session prior to filming. One of the audience members brought up Bronies (sp?) and Stephen had never heard of it - so his team must have done some quick research and added it in at he last moment.
ReplyDeleteONE OF US
ReplyDeleteThis almost makes me wish The Colbert Report actually took off in England.
ReplyDeleteI don't think he meant it like that but ill take it ^.=.^
ReplyDeleteOf course I don't usually watch it, and the one time I didd, he says brinies! hurray!
ReplyDeleteStupid yankie shows. So patriptic, yet they have nothing to be patriotic about.
ReplyDeleteColbert's approval. 1 step closer to world domination. Whahahahahaha Whaahaahaa
ReplyDeleteWoot. Epic shoutout is epic.
ReplyDeleteTo my fellow bronies, I say this: getting a shoutout on a major cable TV show is a pretty amazing thing and definitely something worth smiling about. Let's just not get too far out of hand over it.
ReplyDeleteAs for the folks who came here just to complain about it, I get why you feel how you feel about it completely and I certainly don't begrudge you your disdain. That said, coming to one of the biggest fansites for the series and attempting to berate the fanbase after such a moment makes your posts come across as nothing more than a well-timed yet poorly executed attempt at trolling.
@BagOfChips
ReplyDeleteyes it was :P
... A PINTCH OF PONyACIO-CHLORATE AND THE WORLD GOES! *KA-BLOWEY*
ReplyDelete@Anonymous
ReplyDeleteCORRECTION!
Yankee. With two Es
The part I really REALLY love is when people lose sight of the fact that the "right-wing crackpot" is just a character Stephen Colbert plays for the show.
ReplyDeleteI mean come on, he did the voice for Phil Ken Sebben on Harvey Birdman after all!
O_O

ReplyDeleteI love you guys.
ReplyDeleteWTF does Stephen Colbert do. Can someone explain (not American).
ReplyDeleteCool, although I don't watch Colbert.
ReplyDeleteTo the Anon complaining about shoving it in people's faces, no different then a few years ago during an election time on the Daily Show. They had someone playing Halo when they cut to them and gave the excuse, "I'm exit polling Covenant"
Didn't hear an outrage about, "Shoving Halo in people's faces" then, just a network cashing in on something popular, nothing more.
Ponies are awesome. That was just a matter of time.
ReplyDeleteNow, onwards to Obama's speeches!
To anyone asking who Stephen Colbert is, I'll briefly say that he parodies right-wing news opinion shows. He's a very well known personality for a majority for young people in the US.
ReplyDeleteAlternatively, Google his name. A Wikipedia article will do a better job of explaining it than me.
gg Fox News.

ReplyDeleteYeah, so one of the tags for this video on Colbert's site is bestiality.
ReplyDeleteI'm going to call this one one of the non-positive mentions....
Colbert Report not available in Ireland??!
ReplyDelete@Anonymous
ReplyDeleteWow, for real, that's awesome. Thanks for the info.
@Luke
ReplyDeleteThe tags are jokes, like most of his videos. Also listed are Monica lewinsky, poo and pee, and several others
Force that shit meme every day guys xD lmao
ReplyDelete@Anonymous
ReplyDeleteExcept it's not a meme. Memes don't get fucking shoved up everyone's ass left and right for attention.
@Anonymous
ReplyDelete...No, your retarded community spammed his forums asking him to mention it on the show.
You're the worst kind of attention whores. There's no defending bullshit manchildren fapping over a childrens show and calling it a meme.
@Luke
ReplyDeleteNo, I'd call it positive.
Positive, and true as shit. This is the largest pile of retardation to plague the internet. You only like it because it's been shoved up your ass on /co/ and /b/.
How's that feel? You know, liking something only because you have no other way to relate to people?
I await my comments to be buried or removed because of you wanting this shit covered up.
It's the truth, you know it, and don't want to accept it.
@Anonymous
ReplyDeleteThis.
Ponyfaggotry contributed to the death of /b/.
Thanks for that, idiots.
<3 COLBERT IS PART OF THE HERD! LONG LIVE BRONYDOM!
ReplyDeleteI admit I'm anonymous, but I've been a Brony for several months now. Been a fan of The Colbert Report for much longer. Unfortunately I'm the only one in my family who is. The others avoid it like the plague for some reason, but when I'm watching it and they walk in they sit down and watch it anyway. I think that says a lot about what people are really like. Haters out there, just remember you have to find your own way, and not just hate on what others have. Brohoof to all the bronies out there. And Brohoof to you Mr. Colbert.
ReplyDelete@Luke
ReplyDeleteActually that's probably just a reference to his advice to Obama later in that video to metaphorically "have sex with the neck-hole" of a decapitated goat.
(His words, not mine.)
Mister anonymous here again, just read the rest of the posts and didn't realize I could put my name here. Again, haters out there find a better way to live, this hurting others thing isn't really working out for you is it? Be honest. *hugs* Well, be cool bronies, and keep the PAAARTAAAY goin ponyfolk.
ReplyDelete@Anonymous If I'm not mistaken people have said /b/ was dead many Times over, so your argument is invalid.
ReplyDeleteNext thing he needs to do, is a special '..and this leads us to Tonights Word: BRONIES, with a later mention of 'I am going to love and tolerate the shit out of you'.
ReplyDeleteI just found out that he was on the Harvey Birdman Attorney cartoon!! AND HE'S My Favorite character there: (Phil Ken Sebben)
ReplyDeleteAnd i just started to watch it recently... Coincidence? Ha Ha Haah!
@Anonymous
ReplyDeleteThis anon sees no problem with the eventual death of /b/.
@Anonymous Hmm, I give this trolling a 2/5. It was a good effort, but not good enough. In fact- I can't believe it... I have this strange need to-
ReplyDeleteDAAAAWWWWWWW, how cute :DD Don't worry, we won't cover your comments up. Though I think someone needs a huuuuuuug-
*HUGS*
.... the final grade is now 0/5. It just gave me the huggies. I'm very sorry you didn't enrage us at all, sir/madam troll :(
I can't get enough of rewatching this, it's just SO AWESOME!
ReplyDeleteCelestia for friggin' President!
ReplyDeleteI'll be starting my viewing of this show when I regain access to Youtube. I'm sure I've heard of the show before, though... and considering the fact that, being an internet lurker, I don't watch television anymore, THAT MEANS THIS IS A BIG DEAL! I certianly hope that bronies didn't simply spam his site as one Anon accused... that would make the efforts of this brony culture rather lacking in grace and beauty. I hope we aim to find more clever and subtle means of exposing the world to the show.
ReplyDeleteMyself, I do aim for global exposure... not domination, for that would imply that I believe there is a brony in everyone when I know that is not the case. The idea of the global spread is thus:
1) Achieve recognition as a fandom, similar to Trekkies, but perhaps with more creativity associated with ours. I like to believe such aspects makes us noble.
2) Hope that our better characteristics, such as our famed social weapon, "love & tolerance", are adopted in more of the general population's lifestyles, engendering greater capacity for world harmony and understanding.
3) Infiltrate China, causing insane hijinks amidst the population and reducing its economic dominance, allowing everyone else to regain an edge... achieving a new balance, if you will! *hoof'd in the face*
