Though this might not be too much of a surprise, considering both Snips and Snails did show up twice in season one.
This sort of helps Zecora out at the same time though. She was also in two episodes, so there is a good chance that she will pop up again.
Now to figure out if Trixie will return...

I hate the both of them. They lure an Ursa Minor into town (destroying a fair bit of property) and contributing to Trixie being run out of Ponyville (which, while I don't like Trixie, I understand her on stage attitude (even if it carries over off stage when it shouldn't) and the ponies really shouldn't have hated on her for doing her job. It's like if you hated on Rarity for saying 'I'm the best fashionista in Equestria' or on RD for saying 'I'm the fastest flier', it's bullshit) and then, not only do they not really get punished (only having to clean up Trixie's caravan rather than help with the whole town, they get rewarded (mustaches (to which they cry 'cool'))
That whole bumbling thing made me dislike them (and to an extent Twilight for being an idiot and encouraging that sort of stupid action), and their nasally, annoying voices, their ugly designs and the fact that they're just idiots made me hate them.
I just hope it's a quick appearance like when they do the magic show.

As Trixie is the figure head of this site I am pretty sure she will be reappearing in season 2. :P
I generally don't care for them either. Snips I dislike more than Snails, because he's the stereotypical comedy relief dumb fat guy.
I dislike Snails less because for some reason he reminds me of Pinky from Pinky and the Brain.
Plus he has a funny Canadian accent.
I also hope they refine his personality so that he LOOKS and SOUNDS like he's slow, but actually he's really intelligent or something. I like twists like that.
But I guess with Snails being in S2, Snips will be there too.

As far as Trixie making a reappearance I would consider it a high proliability given this line at the end of boast busters.

If there's anything these people can do, it's make fun and likable characters. Want an example? The only other enjoyable Rarity-like character I can think of off the top of my head is Major Charles Winchester from M*A*S*H.
I get the sense Snails (and I guess Snips) will have their moment to shine. Trixie and Gilda too, possibly. And, interestingly enough the character with the fewest lines out of them all, LUUUUNA!

You all seem to be forgetting the love and tolerate part...Snails is great! I'm cool with both Snips and Snails VA's and I think they try their best. If you don't like Snails then you don't like Inuyasha as well. (Same Actor)

I wonder what happens if Snips and Snails get more backstory to them and get a more significant role in one episode or two in the next season. They are low on popularity for sure, but there not Diamond Tiara or Silver Spoon low for me.

I actually like Snails. IDK but I just think the way he said "...it's a big one," just cracks me up. Snips never did anything that amused me. Not a fan of Snips voice either, no offense to the voice actor/actress.
What's with all the Snails bashing? He was barely in the episodes he appears in, and S&S are the most commonly recurring colts in the series (besides maybe the Wonderbolts, who have lines all of once). This would be like bashing the Mayor, or the Wonderbolts, or something. (IE, other minor, recurring characters).
For what it's worth, I enjoyed Snails (and Snips, they're a good double-act) and I hope that if his VA reads these, he knows that there are plenty of people who enjoy his work.

The knowledge Snails and likely Snips will be returning is terrible. They did nothing but drain away screentime from other characters. Odds are, they will be stinking up more characters episodes, again.
Hopefully Hasbro has been paying attention and will add characters people have been asking for in the seasons to come. Trixie and Zecora, if they aren't already on the way, would be a good start.

Zecora and Luna were already confirmed in previous updates to be returning in some capacity for season 2, and Trixie was confirmed NOT to be returning yet. Season 3 is the best hope for Trixie, which is cool because it gives the writers time to come up with a good story for her return.

Or total apathy, eg; Little Strongheart, even though she's the only one who's outright showed up Rainbow Dash. Her existence isn't even acknowledged anymore among fans (no doubt partly because she's not the most cloppable character).
I expect (and in some ways kind of hope) that season 2 will alienate part of the fandom that's mired itself in fanon and is more enamored with fanfic storylines than the show itself. I'm sure complaints will go up that "it's just not as good as season 1", but more likely it just because it doesn't jive anymore with the world they've built in the gap between seasons.
I'm looking foreward to all the new characters and stories to come forth this new season. Just imagine the new ponies we'll fall in love with that we haven't even met yet! New Best Pony? New memes, new ships, new revelations? New material for PMVs, new music for remixes, etc.? Sign me up.
I do hope the G&PT returns. I did like her in Boast Busters.

I'm probably the only Snips fan in existence...I hope he returns in season 2...
While I'm not his biggest fan, if they can make the two a little less annoying (perhaps by smartening them up a bit and giving them a purpose other than "DUUUUUUUUURRR ME SET OFF PLOT" then I'm find with them.
The thing is, background ponies have nearly no personality and therefore we can make them whatever we choose. For example Derpy was nothing more than a pegasus with weird eyes and the fanbase transformed her into the wonderful Derpy Hooves we know and love today!
The best thing to do would be to give him more screen time and show him doing something other than being thick...
