*RUMORS*: FiM DVD Releasing in October?

I don't have Octavia here to bite you if you complain this time around, but I trust we can all stay civil.

Anyway, this one was sent from someone who works at a bakery in New Jersey.  Apparently they receive a calendar that mentions important dates/movie releases so they can plan ahead for specific trends.  This is the October page.

There really is no telling if the information is completely accurate, since things to tend to change.  This calendar has also been around for a while now (Released around the beginning of the year!)

Thanks to K-Pony for the heads up/picture!

Doesn't seem legit imo.

I think it's from a bakery supplier... also it could just mean DVD's from the older Generations. We would have to get a better look at the logo.

@Shannon It seems to clearly say Friendship is Magic in the blow up. I hope this is true so hard T.T

DRTJR said...

I hope the series is on DVD. I don't own a blueray player.

rasrap-smurf said...

Would be cool, hopefully it will be released outside of the US around the same time if this is true.

Ima put that baby right in with my video games and my friends are gonna be all like "Whut should we play... wtf is this?" and ima be all like "Your Destiny Muther 'F'er!"

I hear there's rumors on the, uh, Internets that we're going to have a DVD.

IF it'll come out as said here, then sweeeeeet. However, I have the whole season one on my DVR!

ronaldhennessy said...

Just want to give you guys a tip. If ANY TV series is going to get release date announced, most likely it will show up on TVshowsondvd.com

Firleycat said...

Wow, your bakeries must be much more organised that the ones we have over here. Over here, you'll be lucky to find a Santa cookie at Christmas, let alone tie-ins to trends.

I am a bit unsure about it, I'll wait until we get a second confirmation before getting excited.

Marshall said...

Even if it's just a rumor, I'm still excited to hear this! I want a Season 1 DVD SO BAD.

BND said...

I've been waiting for this. It can't come soon enough. :D

aramaru said...

I'd love a Blu-Ray release since, well, not only can you fit more content on such discs but Flash art just begs for the highest resolution possible, particularly with MLP's wonderful animation. But I guess DVD works too..

*doesn't want to sound ungrateful, but at the same time.. one can hope for the ideal..*

Isrozzis said...

I kinda doubt that it is a terribly reliable source, but if it is, do want.

Haybuck said...

I really hope this is straight up, and I hope that it releases in Blu-Ray.

I really really really hope that Blu-ray is being released as well.... otherwise I may as well stick to youtube videos. (you all know I'm going to have to buy this anyways >.<)

dmtactical said...

I don't own a blu-ray player but I would still buy a blu-ray version anyway just to watch in the future or borrow a player. The high quality would be worth it.

My Little Pony and CAPSLOCK Day on a calendar. I'm positive you have all been trolled.

The most interesting Brony in the world.

Jo said...

I already have it on DVD. using the stunning feature of burning items and contents onto the CD.

However. if it comes in HD and Bluray. then i'll be happy to buy it.

Mattatatta said...

@Angel Heart

Sounds like a plan to me!

Pixel Coder said...

While I do hold out hope for a whole-season box set, I wouldn't be surprised if "DVD releases" means those DVDs with two episodes max that we've been finding at Target and Wal-Mart. Sigh.

WritersBlah said...

Why do I get the feeling it's actually a G1 DVD with the people who got the orders lazily slapping on the modern logo onto the calendar?

wbwolf said...

I really don't think that it will come out in October.

The likely studio would be Shout! Factory, since they have handling all of Hasbro's video properties lately. They are very good about announcing releases ahead of time to fans.

Here is their slate until November 2011:
http://www.shoutfactory.com/newreleases.aspx

Sadly, no MLP is on the slate officially, so I would highly doubt that a bakery schedule printed back in January would have more info than the studio itself.

Having said that, I'm sure any Shout! Factory release would be awesome; their releases of MST3k and Max Headroom have been top notch, and it looks like other Hasbro releases have treated with similar care. Also, based on other things that Shout! has said, an initial release would likely be a "Season 1 Part 1" release (13 episodes on 2 discs) for mass retailers, and possibly for the fans a full season set available directly from Shout!

seems legit

as long as it includes every episode, I hate buying incomplete seasons of a TV show

Canadian said...

I'll still wait for official word from Hasbro. As much as I want this to be true, I want to get it from the horse's mouth before I go off the rails.

Bonsai said...

I'm really hoping this is real. If it is, then I know what I'm getting for my birthday.

ShakeBunny said...

If this is true, I'll never be able to leave my house. Watching ponies on my roommate's giant-ass TV would officially trump all other priorities.

null said...

There's no way this is legit.. it doesn't even make any sense. News "officially" making its way to a bakery's calendar at the beginning of the year and we haven't heard of it through any other means? Impossible.

Xkhaoz said...

Please have this also mean a Blu-ray. but either way, I'm excited.

Not to rain on your parade but.......I'm gonna rain on it. I sent Hasbro an email directly, asking about a DVD release of the series and patting them on the back for awesomeness. Here was the response:

"Thank you for contacting Hasbro regarding the My Little Pony Friendship is Magic.
It is great to hear that you are a fan of this show and the products!
Regrettably, there is no information available regarding if there will be a DVD or soundtrack released.
I ask that you visit our web site at http://www.hasbro.com often for the most current product information as any new information will be posted there.
I appreciate your understanding and your interest."

Oh, I sent the email August 23rd with a reply given to me the very next day.

probably fake. And if it's real it's one of those 2-EP DVD's.

Just in time for my birthday.
Although I won't be able to ask anybody FOR it. The pony thing hasn't gone down very well with the people I know.

BAGRT said...

Why would a bakery in New Jersey have inside info?

Roy G. Biv said...

@BAGRT
Maybe Jersey is trying to make amends for 'Jersey Shore'?

Calender is bullshit. Ok so they have a calender that lists this kind of stuff, but where exactly did they get this information? I highly doubt Hasbro would keep a bakery up to date with something like this.

I don't really buy it. But we don't really have anything else to go on so I'll stay cautiously optimistic.

AtomicBrony said...

It's a Friday, not a Tuesday. It's either an odd release day, or wrong.

K-Pony said...

Hey guys, K-Pony here to clear the air. First off, I am a true brony and you can even quiz me about the show to your hearts content to prove that I'm no troll. The calender comes from the company Bakery Crafts (https://www.bakerycrafts.com/) and they seem to have some in's with the industry.

I admit that the calender has some really weird holidays on it (its always been that way), and I truly didn't notice the National Caps Locks day in the picture, but if you google the day, it actually matches up. Also the movie 'Real Steel' advertised the row below the pony's logo also is set to premiere on Oct. 7th, just like in the picture.

I know I can't tell how or why this calender got such info, but do believe that I did not create this, and there truly is a physical calender out there that states a MLP dvd should release during this month.

Nagi Surichiro said...

@solobutterfly Capslock day is an actual event. so take that mr. suspicious of troll.

bakaneko said...

this makes me so happy... who else has been going into a video store and walking into that dvd section aimlessly hoping to see it. extra points for military bronies!

A Bulldog that likes ponies said...

I hope it comes out in full and in the UK.

Sumica said...

Friday DVD release, I don't believe it. Then again it says this month too. *assumes a wait and see pose*

Rarity-Fan said...

Ya' know.....this would make sense! I mean think about it Hasbro gives the info to a bakery and that makes us all skeptical and when it releases in October we'll all be genuinely surprised!
