• OC Pony Free Comic Con Vector

If the slightly jarring black and red OC ponies were bothering you about the massive vector created over on deviant art, a new version has been released with 20% less non-canon characters.

    Or maybe 5% less.

    2% less?

I don't know.... Regardless, hit up the Ponychan thread for it, or you can download the RIDICULOUSLY MASSIVE 48 mb 30,000px version here! (Note: This png is massive, I'd suggest waiting for a smaller one if your computer is older)

The characters in the balloon were put there as teasers by the original artist (i.e. the person who is on the FiM team). They intentionally made them small enough so that people couldn't tell who they were. The OC ponies from the previous version were put over the existing characters, whoever they might be.

    8. Reminds me I still need to frame my original, or just wait to have it signed by Jayson Thiessen at BroNYcon.

I still can't open this thing with my 3 year old Mac :-(

    9. As expected this version is 20% less cool. I will stick with their original =P

    11. @EkevooThere was a thread on /co/ in which someone had a zoomed-in shot. OC characters, it seemed.

Not like I'm about to complain - I have the actual poster from Comic-Con!

That's pretty much everyone from /co/.

Isn't having OCs yet another shout out to us bronies? Why would that be bad?

    15. Anyone know who the blue unicorn stallion in the top left is? I don't recognize him...

    16. No OC ponies in balloon? Image Deleted!

      ReplyDelete
    17. Didn't the people 'turned out the bloody great thing in the first place say the two original ponies were just temporary placeholders, anyway? o.o

      ReplyDelete
    18. Wow! So...how big would this poster be *if I were* to print it without it looking all pixel-y? I know I would have to go to Kinkos for this, lol. My room isn't very big on wall space, so I'd like it to be a respectable size-- Unless... I can put it on my ceiling! Waking up to that sight every morning...would be *magical* XD

    20. Here we go:

'Yes, they are the OC characters of [Moongaze Ponies] and [Maximillian Veers]. We put them there as placeholders until we know who the actual characters in the balloon are so that we can put them in their rightful spots. We'll probably have to wait to find out who they are until Season 2, unfortunately.'

I think that's cool, a little silly thing from you two after doing such a big job. Haters will hate.

    22. @DareDreamer
      At 300 dpi you would get 254.0 x 167.8 cm or 100.0 x 66.1 inches.

    23. Finally a version I can save

      ReplyDelete
    24. Again, it has been confirmed by a member of the show's production team that two specific show characters were placed in the balloon. One was Cherry, as many people assumed, and the other is as of yet unreleased Season 2 character, so we weren't told who it was.

Moongaze is currently working on another version of out poster with Cherry and another S1 bg pony.

      ReplyDelete
    25. Photoshopping them out seems a bit silly really. Better to wait for whoever made the original to make whatever corrections.

    26. Please, fix Rarity's eyelashes!

      And Twilight's eyes too!

      ReplyDelete
    28. @Don_ko
Oh yeah! That was the other spot-the-differences error I saw. 8^D Along with the extra leg on a parasprite, Rainbow's eyes being too small, Applejack colour gone dark, the lights missing from Twilight's eyes and Zecora's cutie mark resized. I think that was all that bugged me, apart from Cherry with goggles and white pony in cap not appearing in the balloon.

    29. @Acriaos
      8* I assume that's quite large! I'm not an expert on measurements - -;
Maybe I'll for a smaller version as well.

      ReplyDelete
    30. @DareDreamer

Printing at 300 dpi, which is as far as I'm aware pretty standard for "high quality" printing, a 30,000 pixel wide image would be 100 inches. Or 8.3 feet.

I've found that for most printing purposes 150 dpi is good enough, though, which would make it almost 17 feet wide.

One of the original artists for this image said that he would probably release the original vector files used to generate this image, though, so if 17 feet is too small you'll be able to print it even larger without loss of quality from that. :)

      ReplyDelete
    31. Well at least you recognized it Sethisto, i was worried you supported all this stuff about the Oc ponies inclusion. Greets.

      ReplyDelete
    32. I don't care about fan-made characters, but jeez. Keep fan stuff separate from official content, *please*, for everyone's sanity.

I seriously hope that this sort of thing doesn't end up happening "officially". Imagine, if you will, someone gets their OC stuffed into the bg of some scene because they're well known in the fandom, and it sets off a lot of stupid drama and BS (think the OC inclusion in this poster magnified about 500x), and/or it completely goes to their head and they'll become a complete obnoxious tard about it.

This is about the only thing that actually worries me about this fandom; it's so cool that Lauren Faust, Jayson Thiessen, Daniel Ingram, etc. etc. are actually talking to the fans and don't just ignore us, but there doesn't seem to be any sort of boundary at all. I mean, Jayson Thiessen hanging out at meetups - it's a perfect recipe for some massive drama and mudslinging down the road, and I can feel it coming already. I'm really hoping that they have sense to draw the line somewhere before things get ugly.

      ReplyDelete
    33. @Ekevoo

You're right! They should've just made a poster featuring only OCs because clearly the Brony fandom is much more important than some kids' toy commercial cartoon! Bronies 4 lyfe!

      ReplyDelete
    34. @Bryan
Awesome! Thanks for the info, Bryan :D

      ReplyDelete
    35. There's a certain background pony that shows up standing next to Cherry in at least two screenshots, and matches the coloration of the one in the balloon next to Cherry.

      ReplyDelete
    36. If you look at the poster the characters in in the balloon are ACTUALLY there, they weren't put in by someone other then the creators of the posters. (I know, I own the poster).

So I don't know why you would think they are OC ponies, they are most likely forshadowing.

      ReplyDelete
    37. good. whoever threw in those shitty OC's, that was a real dick move

    38. it broke my computer.

    39. Thank you for this version, Seth. I think black furred OC ponies look just AWFUL.

Yeah, I'm looking at you Nyx.

      ReplyDelete
    40. But, but, now the logos are gone. I liked all the official logos, but I disliked the OC ponies as their colors stuck out too much.

Guess there's just no pleasing me.

    41. Chuck norris can draw it with paint on windows 98!

      ReplyDelete
    42. Looks like they also took my advice and made Octavia grey instead of their weird brownish color.

      ReplyDelete
    43. @Florentine
so... nobody knows who really is in the balloon?

      ReplyDelete
    44. Wait. This is our work. Photoshoped. Without our permission. After we TOLD EVERYONE that we were producing a new version to appease the OC haters.

      Seriously what the fuck guys.

      ReplyDelete
    45. @Crimson Valor

Wait wait wait. YOUR permission? Don't make me laugh. You did NOT make this poster. In reality you should get HASBRO'S permission before editing it.

      ReplyDelete
    46. @Crimson Valor

I'd be LIVID if I were you. Is this fandom so spoiled and pretentious that they'd go ahead and defame something several artists worked on, without even asking if they could, despite previous announcements?

Honestly, guys. I'm disappointed in every single one of you! Crimson and Moon and so many others worked so hard on this, and all you do is complain, whine, and photoshop it just because you don't like a tiny little detail that takes up less than 1% of the poster, WHICH they have said they are changing soon?

      Honestly?

      ReplyDelete
    47. @Crimson Valor
I saw versions of it with the OCs photoshopped out within hours of it being released. Entirely pointless of course, but inevitable. The best one I saw had Cherry and Cloudkicker in. An empty balloon is just silly.

I'm more surprised that Seth decided to post this given you've already said you'll be releasing another version, making this completely redundant (and technically inferior).

      ReplyDelete
    48. @Zatheyll
      Your logic.

      It is horrendous.

      ReplyDelete
    52. wonder if the characters in the balloon were supposed to be versions of Lauren Faust and a few of the executive staff

      ReplyDelete
    53. There were OCs in the other one? (didn't get a chance to open it)

Could have told me BEFORE I downloaded that massive file. =/

      ReplyDelete
    54. @Crimson Valor

You really have a massive stick up your ass about people taking liberties with your artwork based intellectual properties you've take your own liberties with (without permission). Last time I saw you post, you were bitching that someone else uploaded your Trixie alicorn vector or something. People enjoy your art enough to share it and improve it! OH NOES!!!1!

So what if you were making an OC free version of this. You took too long, and someone else who probably was unaware of your modification plans did it for you. You've got to realize that not every single person in this fandom reads every single post of every single thread. Hell, I didn't even know you worked on this. Get over yourself, dude.

      ReplyDelete
    55. Is there a reason why the svg/dxf/whatever files haven't been released? Or have I missed a post somewhere where links to them were put up? Do they even exist or were these done in PS or other raster-only programs?

I know the word 'vector' is used for large images, but I'd rather you say something ridiculous like "BIG EFFEN HUEG VERSION" in the title. It really gets my hopes up seeing 'vector', but then suddenly soulcrush.

    56. I WANT THIS

...but I'm waiting until tomorrow because I've had my laptop on for longer than 24 hours and it will crash my whole system. Waaaaahhh.

      ReplyDelete
    57. @Anonymous

Since most of the people on our team only had Photoshop available to them, we created the image using shape layers. Currently the file is a PSD but it can still be scaled to any size you like just like a vector image in Illustrator or similar programs.

We haven't released the file itself yet since we wanted to get feedback from the initial release so that we could go back in and make any changes as necessary. Of course, people don't know how to read and exploded over the OCs being in the basket for the time being, which is NOT what the absolute final version will have.

      ReplyDelete
    58. @Anonymous

Moongaze is actually blue, but whatever.

      ReplyDelete
    59. @Namefag Anon

No, no it was not. If you took one measly moment to READ any of the information we provided with the image, you would have known that the OCs are temporary placeholders for what basically amounted to a pre-final release version of the poster. We wanted to get any feedback from the community on any errors they might spot that we overlooked in order to fix them, and the OCs were just a bit of fun. Obviously there are many, many people who are extremely anal and basically just nasty people who for some reason partake in this community that can't simply say "Oh, why are there OCs in the basket? Are you going to remove those in the final version? Oh wait, you already said that yes you are going to do that. Glad I read the notes for the image!"

If you're going to take the time to insult the people who worked hard on this without bothering to read up first, you need to walk away from the keyboard.

      ReplyDelete
    60. @Anonymous

It's not any pony from Season 1, it is a new character. I have direct confirmation of this from the show artists themselves.

    63. SO MASSIVE. I LOVE IT. NOW MY COMPUTER SYSTEM CRASHED AND I CANNOT REFORMAT IT. SO I HAVE TO BEAT IT WITH A BAT AND THROW THE HARD DISKS AND THE BUS DRIVES INTO A NEARBY SEWAGE. THANKS, NOW I'M GOING TO CALL THE COPS.

      ReplyDelete
    64. For those of you trying to open it and failing, try to open with something other than the default Windows picture viewer, I tried that and it failed.

I used Paint.NET and it opens just fine in all of its glory, it just takes 15 seconds to load. :P

And another thing, why do people care if there are OCs in it? You can barely notice them if unless you zoom in on them, I took them as more of an easter egg than anything else. Although it doesn't help that the OCs' colors are very contrasted against the background.
