I've been wanting to see flutter ponies/breezies.. and wingers are sort of close.. but I sure don't like characters changing species. There's no reason for a pegasus to have the "Rarity spell" used on them either..

When I was that age, I was all over stuff like this. Yeah, they didn't pull stupid shit like Pink Celestia on us in the 80s (I think I would have been annoyed by that 'cause clearly she's not pink on tv!), but I was 5 and the ponies didn't exactly have the strong personalities they do now, so a *lot* was make-believe play.
Often my ponies would ride in to battle alongside Optomus Prime and The Thundercats. (Being the oldest child, and a girl, I confused my parents who didn't understand why I wanted both the pretty unicorn AND the truck that turned into a robot - anyway)
So as much as we want them to? they're not making toys for us. They're making toys for little kids who aren't as discerning (or who their marketing and sales departments are telling them aren't as discerning), and who are going to run off and play whatever they want anyway using whatever rules make sense at that particular moment.
(Personally, I think they're selling little girls short, but that's a rant for another venue)
Bronies buy the toys to mod them to what they want because Hasbro doesn't make what we want. We're going to see a Rarity made from this toy in less than a month, mark my words.

@WizardWannabe Probably can be done. You'd have to be careful cutting off part of those frilly wings, leaving a stub of white plastic where it moves. I'm not sure if the brushables are made from vinyl, if they are, I think you can heat the toy up in an oven or such to soften the material up(from what I can remember from doing research on Munny making)so the wings will be easier to cut. Carefully applying glue on the stub and placing the brushable wings on it and let it dry. Sorry for that long post, the idea of that got my creative juices flowing! Heck, I try it myself if this toy makes it to stores soon. *challengeaccepted.jpg*

It's nothing new that toy companies make alternate versions of their characters that were never used in any other sort of media. So far Hasbro has played ball pretty well with their older audience, but I suppose some things have to stay business as usual.

Only buy the Rarity ones.
Hasbro will eventually get the message when that Rarity outsells the other 5. They might be stupid and think that Rarity is much more popular, but when they try and bring out a bunch of Rarity toys and those DON'T sell, their CEO might rub together his two brain cells and get it.
On the downside it looks like another toy based on manufacturer logic, like giving Superman a car or Flash a motorcycle, ect. On the upside it's most likely a part of a series and we'll get a Winged Rarity/rest of the cast. Plus like others mentioned it could be considered a what-if Rainbow got the spell since it was teased about on the show.
Welp, now we know why Rarity had butterfly wings in that one episode. I’ll bet all six get this treatment, just like all six had a “Shine Bright” version.
This was a good idea poorly executed. The wings are way too big to look good and their design screams “generic”. If they’d done the wings the way they did the G1 Summer Wing / Windy Wing ponies (especially with new characters (plus Rarity) instead of the main cast), it would’ve been really awesome.

Well, like someone mentioned above, these ARE marketed for girls 5-11, so this makes sense. Little girls love things like those sparkly wings. Though like someone else mentioned, they look flimsy. So I can't see them lasting long if played with a lot. I also agree they would make more sense on Rarity. At least from an older audience standpoint. But little girls wouldn't mind them on any of the cast.

On the upside it's most likely a part of a series and we'll get a Winged Rarity/rest of the cast. Plus like others mentioned it could be considered a what-if Rainbow got the spell since it was teased about on the show.
Just imagine what Rainbow Dash's reaction would be if she saw this.
If it was Rarity I'd probably buy it. Nopony else is supposed to have the butterfly wings.
Welp, now we know why Rarity had butterfly wings in that one episode. I’ll bet all six get this treatment, just like all six had a “Shine Bright” version.
This was a good idea poorly executed. The wings are way too big to look good and their design screams “generic”. If they’d done the wings the way they did the G1 Summer Wing / Windy Wing ponies (especially with new characters (plus Rarity) instead of the main cast), it would’ve been really awesome.

Well, like someone mentioned above, these ARE marketed for girls 5-11, so this makes sense. Little girls love things like those sparkly wings. Though like someone else mentioned, they look flimsy. So I can't see them lasting long if played with a lot. I also agree they would make more sense on Rarity. At least from an older audience standpoint. But little girls wouldn't mind them on any of the cast.
