Fanfiction Submissions: Include a Picture!

Daww, just look at those eyes!  The cute and cuddly Trixie wants nothing more than to not have to search for pictures for every fanfic.

I'm not sure where the idea that I don't accept images with stories came from, but I actually prefer it when you include one. Especially for OC ponies!

Just make sure it's not an MSpaint stick figure horse.

Unless of course you wrote a story about Twilight accidently teleporting everyone into a pre-schooler's flash drive.

Do pre-schoolers have flash drives?

Guess what I'm going to write my next story about?

So I'm going to need to track down my own images or have someone draw the title screen for me?

Made my day, Seth.
If someone writes that fic with the pre-schooler's flash drive...
Goodness... Rule34.5 If it exists, there is a fanfiction of it.

@Crimson Valor

Glad I'm not the only one exhibited inanely jealous hate about that.

Oh, which reminds me, I sent you a story that had 3500 words in the first part, and you told me it was too short. WHAT?

I've submitted images with some of my stories, but I'm still confused as to... how I did that. Is there a proper procedure there? I remember reading something about it somewhere before where an actual image attached to the email would get cut off, but then the blog image thing changed or something? How does it work now? Does anyone know? Am I going CRAZY?!

Someone: Ship Twilight with a thumb drive. Now.

With 10 year old's having smartphones and everything else these days, a pre-schooler with a flashdrive definitely wouldn't surprise me. lol

Also, insanely-adorable Trixie is just so darn insanely adorable.

1. Add image as e-mail attachment, or provide a link to said image in the body of the email.
2. State that, if your story is accepted, you would like that image used.
3. ????
4. Profit.

I hope that clears up any confusion.

Who's actually doing that story?

I know I am.

Ok Seth, I was wondering what the heck I was gonna write for the WTG, now I've got an idea...

Also, for some reason, the thing about the flash drives sounded dirty when I read it O.o

SETH DO YOU REALIZE WHAT YOU'VE DONE!?

Anonymous said...

Can do, Seth.

Anonymous said...

@Aponymous

wait, what has he done?

Anonymous said...

I DEMAND that story be done please! :P

Uhh I'll get back to you when I manage to learn to draw.

Writing TwilightxThumbdrive clopfic now...

Expected completion, a week...

This is prejudice against people who can't draw.

I guess I could just do a recolour of Celestia and give it an omega cutie-mark, but that would be cheating.

Just a heads up, I'm a recently out of work artist who's pretty desperate for some funds. I've got commission slots open and I've done pony art for fan fictions before, like "I Won't See You Tonight." My DA page.

Whoops. How about that link? http://eddieperkins.deviantart.com/

Or, you can all do just what Seth most likely does, and just look through the recent drawfriends, pick one that at the least has the same main characters as your story, use the source as the link in your fanfic submission, and Bang zoom! There ya go! =)

What would be good is if an MS paint stick figure horse was submitted with the story about twilight teleporting everypony onto a preschooler's flashdrive.

@Anonymous

What he said. Find pic, give credit, profit.

Of course if you're writing an epic crossover or sprawling adventure you could always throw some money at one of the fine artists who work to provide us with our pony fix every day, I'm sure they won't object.

JR said...

Thinking about it, we should in fact do a fic writing challenge. Maybe broaden it to "write a fic for which a child's stick figure drawing of a pony would be a good header."

Ciroton said...

To those of you wondering how to request an image for story posts: I remember for Sunset, all I had to do was say what picture number of what drawfreind it was in. Of course, looking back on it, a link probably would have been more preffered. =p

I actually thought about this, and I think I'll make my own from now on. :3

Be careful what you wish for, because someone might hear.

I'm no madmax ego or but i do get recognizable characters :D and can express emotions fairly well

anyway peace!

Not all of us who can write well can draw well or can get/commision art for our fanfics. I mean for god's sake do fanartits have to write fan fiction to go with their art? No. so, why do we need fan art to go with our fan fiction,
