There's no evidence Rarity was eaten, she is simply not in the image at all and there is nothing showing that she ever was. Artist just left her out for whatever reason.

I am not thinking of this as what the artist intent was, I am thinking of this from the mane cast standpoint. Why would the mane cast be trying to KILL the Hydra? Twilight didn't even attempt to kill the Ursa Minor, and it caused massive destruction to the town. Plus, the Hydra is clearly more dangerous than the Ursa and yet they are actively fighting it. I also do not think the hydra was going to attack the town or anything like that either because the Hydra just gave up on the mane cast within it's reach after they left the swamp in ep. 15
(PS, I am not trying to troll or anything, I am just trying to spark debate, since this is the first time I have found a clever interpretation in a pic and I am curious as to other people interpretations)

@Anonymous someone's already done Rarity and Fluttershy, I still read it despite the fact that I didn't like what Rarity was doing while in Fluttershy's body. Also confidence can not turn on a dime like the story did with Fluttershy, but fairy tale endings and all.
Has anyone else ever played Battallion Wars? I actually managed to beat the first one after discovering the right tactical maneuvering instead of doing it all by myself. Never played the second one, but the 'Solar Empire' had lasers and tanks that also had lasers! They really loved their energy weapons.
I'm expecting Battallion Ponies now, but who it going to be the 'western frontier' army? Braeburn? Then whose the Tundrans? Gilda and the griffons? Then there's the Xlyvanians with the whole legion thing with the Cenotaph. I bet shadow bolts!

#24: I knew what it was the moment I noticed Grey Hoof, I was caught off guard by it being animated though. I also have to admit that I can't stop thinking about Sunny Town and its curse because I want to know who placed laid the curse upon the town. It plagues my mind to such a degree that I actually worked up a character that could have done it. I can't stand not knowing what placed the curse upon that town; no other type of game has plagued me too such a degree.
I really need a sequel that explains this so I can finally rest peacefully again.
I also enjoyed all the artwork that appeared on this page and I hope that one day I can have at least a fraction of the talent these artists have.

In that case, I could see what you mean, it fits that they could want to put it down if it killed one of there best friends, but it could have also have been causing some other serious issues in Equestria, like attacking and killing other travelers or something and if Celestia gave Twilight an order to put it down, that could work too.

I did do a version (#16) with Nyx edited out, but I don't think it looks nearly as good.
While some people could back off with Nyx obsession a little, it just doesn't seem in the spirit of bronydom to get upset about it.

Twi is entering rage mode (you think she's leaving it, but I think that party's just getting started), Applejack looks pissed, Fluttershy is demonstrating enough strength to hold Applejack while Applejack holds the things mouth open, we see Pinkamena preforming an act that goes against physics, Rainbow is preforming her first Flaming Rainboom down the things throat. I think they're trying to rescue Rarity... But I think Dash will get to it's stomach just to find a large whole that Rarity blasted out because the hydra's stomach was "icky".
