This disgusts and disturbs me to no end I dont see much humor in this, my good friends I understand the rules of dark comedy but this comic is sick and wrong you see I know its purpose is to gain laughs but in this it reeks of work very half assed I know it took time to draw this bizzare and effort put in not sub par it is beautifully drawn but seems too creepy it just isnt that comic for me
For those who don't know the story behind the inside joke...Zecora was originally going to be speaking Swahili nursery rhymes in 'Bridle Gossip' when the Mane 6 spied on her in her hut. But they couldn't get a proper translation of Swahili in time, so instead, they went the 'Bugs Bunny Japanese' route and MADE IT ALL UP.
Instead of speaking Swahili, they started yapping exotic jibberish that was supposed to sound like it. Thus 'Canadian Swahili' was born.
Not the classiest of moves, particularly in an episode with undertones of tolerance and overcoming racism, but it's a testament to the effect of timelines and pressure in the animation industry.
This is so screwed up. I come here for news about MLP, well-drawn fanart, and any good fanfics. (Past Sins, Dangerous Business) what I don't want is grimdark and shipping, but it seems like that's what mostly pops up on this site, and frankly, I'm kind of sick of it. If you're gonna twist and pervert something, why, of all things, would it be my little pony? Get a life, seriously.

I don't know how I should feel about this. It is a funny concept, but it's too dark for me to laugh at. I also feel sorry for Zecora since she's been characterized as a cannibal.
I don't think this thing counts as grimdark at all. It is pretty absurd but it seems like the comic is played for laughs. Its not violent or gory or even mean spirited. The background material is nuts and the art is great.

In all seriousness, my goal was not to be controversial or offensive. Ask anyone, and they will tell you that I try very hard to be a good, considerate person and my first instinct is to offer you a heartfelt apology.
But on the other hand, I think you're taking this a little bit too seriously. Cartoons have been captured and boiled in prohibitively large cast-iron pots since the earliest days of animation. Further, it was our beloved Pinkie Pie who first floated the idea of Equestria's most awesome Zebra being Equestria's most awesome cannibal as well.
I went out of my way to make the comic light-hearted and non-violent, despite the subject matter. It's parody, and I certainly don't TRULY believe that this is canon-appropriate story. It's a silly idea taken to a silly extreme.
Take a deep breath, relax, and remember that this is simply a joke and neither Zecora nor Applebloom are REALLY cannibals.
Also remember that Diamond Tiara really was an insufferable little monster.

I didn't think this was too dark. It was no more gruesome than the "Uter-braten" Halloween episode of the Simpsons back in the day.
