I believe there was one called sun surf and friendship that featured a sea pony.
Reads a lot like an (abridged) episode. GJ, SSky.
Not too thrilled about Twilight's character in this fic. Some of her dialogue with Spike doesn't leave the impression the two have known each other for long.

I don't remember the name of the story.
Again I would like to point out.
Sea Ponies are giant sea horses.
Hippocampi are mermaid ponies with their front hooves.
River Ponies, they uh look a like a frog.

Actually this is better than I expected the reaction for this fic to be.

I'm finding this to be fairly mediocre so far, unfortunately. The writing's lackluster, and the story so far is frankly boring. I'm waiting for the sea ponies to show up... And then when she does, I'm going, "Okay, stop talking about yourself and do something."
I'm pleased to see you're doing the "mer-pony" thing, design wise. Oh, and the seahorse-style ponies as well! Crap, my ideas are all unoriginal.
But as much as I was waiting for this to get going, it ends really quickly. Not much actually happened and it feels overly short. You touch on a lot of things, but never deeply enough to be really attention-grabbing. I didn't like this, I'm sorry.

Hmm. Celestia's reaction is... lacking. She cares about all ponies, she says so herself. She should know about hippocampi. It makes no sense they are killed and put on display. Celestia wouldn't allow that.
Judging from the letter, perhaps she doesn't know. That's even worse. And Twilight shows no intent of discussing things with her. I know she promised, but surely she has the desire to try and stop things? Her position as Celestia's private tsudent puts her in a great position for that.
The ending just lets it down I'm afraid.

Frankly the whole idea that there is a murderous relationship between land and sea ponies is absurd. The idea that Celestia knows all about it and has not acted to bring a peaceful coexistence is even more unbelievable.

They should have three types of sea pony if Hasbro makes a sea pony episode Octoponies, Merponies, and the original sea pony.
The Octoponies could be the pegasi of the sea. Reason: because they are fast
Power:can manipulate the currents with the tentacles
the Merponies would be the unicorns.
Reason: Mermaid are magical
Power: cast spell just like unicorns
the original Seaponies could be earth ponies.
Reason:Seahorses work hardest of all to swim in the ocean just like the Earth ponies work the hardest.
Power: None
And they should beable to get cutie marks too. but they can call them oceanic symbols.
