Hot Topic Finally Carries Pony Shirts!

Hot Topic now carries pony shirts!

So far their stock isn't the greatest on the planet, and it looks like they are womens only, but once something hits this point, piles of other merch tends to follow.

I know "knowyourmeme" announced this craze as a subculture a while back, but seeing it pop up at a store like this next to Zelda and Mario is a pretty big testament.  They might not have the best reputation on the planet, but at least it does signify the inevitable pony takeover of...everything!

Links to the shirts are in the images!

Thanks to Lady Chu for the heads up!

Notice how the one used for the post image has Twilight's Cutie Mark... just kinda floating off her flank.

And the Pinkie Pie they used for both shirts is the same, only one has a cupcake on her head.

I am not envious of these shirts. Ew.

TWILIGHT'S CUTIE MARK!

C. Theron Vulpin said...

Silly shirt, cupcakes can totally be hats! Pinkie's pulling it off pretty well after all. ;-P

@Neon Noble

QA, waht the fuck is it? eh?

C. Theron Vulpin said...

@C. Theron Vulpin Where'd they get the quote from anyway?

FangShaymin said...

Finally pony shirts in stores! I'm 15 and am never able to get the awesome custom shirts online. Now I just gotta wait for men's shirts to pop up. :P

Tast said...

Past the point of no return! Nothing can stop the MLP craze now. I find it strange, but I really don't want the fanbase to grow too big. If it does, then it will just be mainstream and I'm adverse to mainstream things... Not saying that will stop me from watching every episode and reading fanfics buuuuuuut... I'd still prefer it to stay as it is :3

Anonymous said...

I personally think the fan made ones are way better.

Anonymous said...

*is female*

SWEET. So getting shirts...

Neon Noble said...

@BagOfChips

Wha? I said that the shirt with Twilight Sparkle on it has her cutie mark floating off of her flank. That's just messed up.

Also, the fan-made ones are still superior. I don't even know where that cupcake quote came from.

Anonymous said...

@Tast

So what if it becomes a mainstream thing? We are bronies! Love and tolerance!

20percentcooler said...

If they get mens shirts, then I may finally have a reason to step into a hot topic.

Sketchy Stars said...

The fist one is kinda plain and the second one is just stupid but still. Its a start :)

Roman500 said...

They could be better but also could be much worse. Think if they used the Twilight vector.

Anonymous said...

@Anonymous
We still wouldn't want to have the same people who like Justin Bieber to all be picking up on this. It makes the generalization of us look even worse.
Hot Topic's T-Shirts are always crappy quality. Doesn't stop me. I just want me some Pinkie to wear to school.

Anonymous said...

@Anonymous

Of Coarse they are, most people in this fandom have more talent in there toe then the people at Hot Topic

Anonymous said...

@Neon Noble
QA = Quality Assurance

>women's sizes

Consider myself disappoint.

Heartmend said...

Wow. That petition months and months ago actually worked? No way... O.O

Kind of a bummer they're in women's only, and the shirts aren't very good, but hey! It's a start! :D

(Also, you can order from Hot Topic online.)

Anonymous said...

Oh great more clothes that are two sizes smaller than the tag reads. Screw goth topic i'm getting my merch from the fandom!

Anonymous said...

hate to say it guys but the brony fandom is still pretty small. They wouldn't sell many male shirts

TGPFluttershy said...

I've never liked Hot Topic's designs and quality.
I'll stick to the fan-made ones.

Anonymous said...

This is a piece of shit. I can't believe they fucked it up this bad.

(not only that, what made them thought making girl's cloths is going to... I mean, we're BROnies. Guys. Are they... what, delibrately avoiding their customers or something?)

Gypsy said...

ewww womens shirts? the fuck they thinking?!

Neon Noble said...

@Anonymous

Oh. Then, in that case, there appears to be none.

Anonymous said...

If they ever release decent male shirts I may actually wind up shopping at Hot Topic.

Anonymous said...

Hey guys. WeLoveFine has some more pony shirts.

All womens.

Anonymous said...

Guys, guys, they'll realize. Step by step, we'll take over every mall in America. Right?

Anonymous said...

Hey, there are girls in this fandom, too.

The shirts may be crap, but I'mma get the Pinkie one anyway.

Anonymous said...

Anyone else notice that there is a Gir(Invader Zim) version of 'A Cupcake is Not a Hat' too? I would love to see a crossover between those two, Pinkie and Gir, both holding up a giant cupcake or something... It would be invincible!

Pinkamina said...

Ok, to all the guys saying "Ew chick shirts" us Bronettes exsist and we aren't really that well known so can we get some love too??? And ok, I get that there not that good looking or whatever but it is a START, we are creeping into Mainstream media but is that bad, we want respect and we want to not be thought of as "creeps" or "losers" anymore, right?? So who cares if the shirts are crap we are making progress, so I for one am happy for this

Flygon16 said...

Well, it's a start, I suppose... For now, I'mma just stick with my Lyra-and-BonBon-on-a-bench shirt, thank you very much.

Josh said...

I can't get the fan shirts, so I hope they get something good down the line.

Anonymous said...

Well, for us who don't feel quite comfortable buying fanmade stuff, this is nice.

Neon Noble said...

@Anonymous

These shirts are 120% more worth it. And that's only the estimate I'd give due to the fandom-- otherwise I'd say 200%, but that ruins the joke. Wait, I just ruined it anyway...

WeLoveFine is the best. There's no way Hot Topic can touch this.

Also: Wow, guys, way to be insensitive to the female population of the fandom. :P

An addendum: Becoming mainstream is one thing, but becoming mainstream with bad merchandise is not the way to go.

Do not want. Firstly, dat cutie mark. Secondly, Hot Topic has been pissing me off more and more each day. They cling to trends and milk the shit out of them, usually targeting people that want to be cool/part of the sub-culture, but aren't quite in it. I don't know of many legitimate /b/tards out there that would have bought the troll face shirt, but the little tweens were jumping all over it and thinking they were hardcore. I'm a bit sad; I don't want little derps getting these just because it's something new and cool at the local trend-setting store, but oh well. At least this means we should be able to see some good quality merch in the future, with its growing popularity.

Scribejay said...

Wait so that multipierced fellow with hair as black as luna's night and flesh as white as Rarity's coat working at Hot Topic wasn't kidding when he absent mindedly told me that MLP goods would be sold some months ago.

BagOfChips said...

@Neon Noble

Fandom: "We wish there were male versions of the female shirts"
Neon Noble: WOW UR SO INSENSITIVE TO FEMALES WOW SEXIST

Pinkamina said...

@Annonymus : lol I know ALOT of people who have said that people who like the show are creppy and losers but, haters gonna hate, and lol I know but I like Bronette XD I'm just kinda odd, my friend calls me Pinkie Pie(lol that was funny cause when she first said it to me she was like "your the funny sweet adorable random good insane canon Pinkie pie , not the creepy sick murdery fanon Pinkie Pie" I just laughed) so there ya go XD

Anonymous said...

Twilight's losing her cutie mark? That's embarrassing

Mournblade said...

Way to go, HotTopic. You fucked up two more designs.

Josh said...

Hey, all I want is a decent Applejack T-shirt, and if Hot Topic is the ones to give it to me, then okay.

arexshortpaw said...

God damnit! Shirts for men please!

Anonymous said...

@Pinkamina

A-are... you, like, 10?

>not sure if trolling...

Anonymous said...

Cool. I cant wait till I see asshat emo kids walking around town with these on.

Anonymous said...

These shirts are fucking terrible.

Anonymous said...

Okay, ahem.
We need to go to wherever Hot Topic's main building is and protest until we get a fixed cutie mark, some better vectors in the future, and promise of a 20% cooler in 10 seconds flat t-shirt.

Pinkamina said...

@anon : I'm 15 and a half, might as well be ten, and my first post was legit, but then I just got bored, my friend does call me Pinkie Pie tho, good job for figuring it out... You get a cookie

Anonymous said...

@Anonymous
Oh, great. XD

Lulubell said...

Hmmm...They're not THAT bad. I'd get the one with just Pinkie on it...it's kinda cute!

Josh said...

The emos won't buy these, don't worry. MLP won't go the route of Nightmare Before Christmas or Invader Zim. MLP is way too sugary for them.

Anonymous said...

I know what I'm getting my girlfriend~

Anonymous said...

@Josh
As I said, there is an Invader Zims hirt with 'A Cupcake is Not a Hat' too... Coincidence?
Still, you're right.

Brevity said...

I get the feeling these aren't properly licensed... hope remains!

(also, why does Applejack have strung out eyes? oh wait hot topic)

Anonymous said...

>Hot Topic
ehh... might still get it

>Female only
Well... fuck...

Anonymous said...

@Josh
I hope you're right.

DJ RBDash said...

I had a shirt BEFORE it was mainstream~
*hipster tool*

Anonymous said...

@Josh

Not if they are aware of 'Pinkamena' Pinkie and 'sad' Luna

Anonymous said...

I think the first shirt sucks, no doubt about it, but it would be nice to get a mixture of group pictures and individual character shirts if they make more.
Knowing Hot Topic though, they'll only get worse. XD Oh well, we can only wait and see.

Josh said...

I'm always right. And now this talk of shirts is making me want to buy one, where can I get a good Applejack one?

Anonymous said...

@Josh
As far as I know, you don't...

WE NEED MENS SHIRTS

Anonymous said...

Goddamnit I fucking hate Hot Topic. All their shit is low quality and it's full of metal piercing freaks. Even then they're always trying to be trendy, usually doing it wrong in every way. The shirts look low quality and are womens only. I'd consider it if they were in male sizes, but only because it's convenient. I'd much rather go to welovefine and get a GOOD shirt. Hopefully there ARE mens shirts there eventually, and they don't fuck them up horribly. I've got nothing against woman merch, but I'm starting to feel left out. Oh well, every HT design is shitty anyways, lol.

Anonymous said...

Twilight's cutie mark detached from her body...wow.

Anonymous said...

I SERIOUSLY think if I see any emo retards wearing these to be cool, I will not be able to love and tolerate them. They'd be getting their shit wrecked. WRECKED I SAY.

Xcr said...

They will ruin this and it would be totally awesome if they gave us bronies a darn t-shirt like that!!

Anonymous said...

If Hasbro ever comes out with official shirts and G4 ponies I don't think I'll be able to resist

BronyMike said...

@Anonymous I went to WeLoveFine and checked off Guys and checked off My Little Pony and there are like six shirts for dudes in there. Most are Rainbow Dash and only like one or two of them I would think of getting but that's way better than almost any other store, so hey.

Anonymous said...

...funny how the second shirt here is EXACTLY the same design as one of the first MLP shirts We Love Fine started selling.

http://www.welovefine.com/product.php?id_product=400

Makes me wonder whether this IS licensed considering they're claiming the shirt to be HT exclusive, when the same shirt is clearly being sold by a shop known to be licensed by Hasbro. Wouldn't put it past them for a moment...

Derpy Hooves said...

Oh yeah, saw someone mention this earlier. This is pretty cool. I'm not that fond of Poser Topic really, but I'm glad they're starting to stock these shirts. We of course figured if any store would, they'd be one of the very first to. And if they sell decent,y I'm sure they will start stocking more, including men's too. Or you could just go to WeLoveFine too I guess. lol But still pretty nice to see a physical retail store start carrying some.

Anonymous said...

@Anonymous
Upon closer inspection though the Mighty Fine logo does seem to be in the collar... odd...

Anonymous said...

Hetalia, Sailor Moon, and now My Little Pony.

Is Hot Topic TRYING to make me start shopping at their stores again?! If not they're certainly trying to make me even more Ghetto than I already am @_@

Vladnuke said...

And that's why i make(custom digital print order) my own shirts. Much better quality, exactly what I want. My Dj pon3 shirt is the bomb.

Anonymous said...

Somehow Hot Topic missed the obvious meaning in "bronies".

PonyPonyPonyBrony said...

On my way!
Not a big fan of hot topic, but they have pretty good hair colors and pony shirts redeem all. =)

Comet Tail said...

@Anonymous

Hot topic DOES sell shirts from Mighty fine, you know. I have a Gir one with a Mighty fine tag on it sitting in my closet.

Firleycat said...

We're getting there, slowly. Just give it a little more time for the male shirts. Didn't the WeLoveFine guys say that they were going to make some male versions of their shirts. Relax, there will be shirts for us in the end, just give it time.

Anonymous said...

I DEMAND THAT CUPCAKE SHIRT IN A MENS SIZE!!!

Anonymous said...

THESE ARE THE SAME SHIRTS IN EVERY OTHER STORE! Seriously, the same "Epic Cute", "Cupcakes aren't Hats", and those dumb Twilight shirts have been in like every store so far.

HOW ABOUT SOME REAL MEME SHIRTS?

Anonymous said...

Calm down. They did the same thing with "Adventure Time" shirts. First two were only in womens sizes, and by now they've had a surplus of mens shirts.

Anonymous said...

"You said these would sell well!"

"Most of the bronies are male, sir."

Anonymous said...

oh dear...

HIPSTERS.

D:

yayafenella said...

Eh, these are lame. I think I'll stick to DIY. I really want a "keep calm and friendship is magic" one.

Anonymous said...

Didn't realize until today that I'm a hipster. I saw these and thought, "Hey! Now people will be able to wear MLP stuff in public!" I thought it was a dream come true. When I remembered the types of people who shop there, I realized it is a nightmare.

Anonymous said...

Only woman shirts?

I remember a survey sent to them with information about the community a while ago...

are they blind? YES THEY ARE BLIND.

Anonymous said...

These shirts are bad and you should all feel bad.

Pinkamina Diane Pie said...

Do any of you have printers? You do know you can just buy the iron on paper stuff, print what you want on it, and iron it on any shirt you want, don't you?

Wow, some of you must have low IQ's or something.

Nick said...

Oh son of a bitch. I went looking around Hot Topic just a couple of months ago looking for a pony shirt I could wear to school, and now they get them?

Anonymous said...

I really don't like what this fandom has become. It's not a lifestyle, and with hot topic now selling this the wrong kind of people are going to be apart of it. This is slowly falling apart, and I fear the worst. I'm not a hipster, It's not that I don't like things because they're popular, it's that I don't like how popular it has become and usually it's popular for the wrong reasons.

(╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻ said...

>2011

I seriously hope you guys don't do this.

Anonymous said...

@Tast

If it goes manestream, then you can honestly say "I was here before it was cool"
/hipster

Who cares if the fandom grows? You can't stop that sort of thing from happening. Best to enjoy what the fandom has to offer, and contribute to it yourself.

I've made pony mods, what about you? (Not meant as an attack)

Anonymous said...

@Anonymous (the reply to Tast)
Let's see here. There are many things people have contributed to the fandom but it gets not recognition and it isn't because it sucks. I've made many things that I submitted or whatever and it goes completely un-noticed and then someone does something of lesser quality and get's the praise that seems a bit odd don't you think?

Zanzi said...

I may hate hot topic, but this is still amazing.

Anonymous said...

I'd rather buy my stuff from other fans, or get it custom-made... by the fans.

Only company getting pony money should be hasbro. Fuck these cynical cash-ins, they don't give a shit about the show, their existence contradicts its message.

Anonymous said...

"OK, I'm almost done designing this shirt, but I forget, does Twilight's cutie mark go on her flank or does it float in the air above her?"

"I don't know just make it half on her, half in the air"

"Sure, whatever"

Seriously, how did that happen?

I wouldn't buy a thing from Hot Topic, pony-related or not. Thieves leeching off of and marketing subculture and pop culture references to idiots.

Fuck the fact that there women im getting it any ways

Dart said...

Nnn. Screw that. I don't think this is good for the fandom at all. Not because of any "mainstream" stuff - really, who cares...but because Hot Topic is...nnn. It's...there are going to be a lot of fourteen year old kids running around with pony shirts giggling about LOL OH HOW IRONIC BECAUSE WE ACTUALLY THINK PONIES ARE LAME LOLOL

No offense to any fourteen year old bronies reading this. You know you're awesome.

Hot Topic just seems to be in for the irony factor. And there is nothing ironic about ponies. >8I
