This edition is much better than the last batch. Pretty great drawings here :) I never did a full body art of my OC/Ponysona, well except when I submitted that unfinished drawing to the NATGs. It's 2 in the morning here, no way I'm doing it now!

I think I asked this before, maybe in chat, but I have to ask again, whats with the...negativity on OC ponies? I mean, none of these are all powerful Alicorns, and sure they are unique in some ways, but so are people.
Folks are having fun with OC ponies, and I just see the entire MLP universe as if it was made for this. I mean, on the most basic level, its colour of coat, of mane, and a cutie mark.
Is the fear for Mary Sues so prevalent?

So far as I can tell, some people believe that a fandom should just appreciate the show itself; original content (characters or fiction) is gauche as it implicitly makes the fan who created it the focus, not the show.
I mean, theoretically, if you look at the show, background ponies are pretty simple and similar in appearance. Someone who creates an OC pony that has any more character beyond body color, hair color, one of five predetermined hair styles, and a cutie mark, is to their mind implying that their OC is as special and unique as one of the main ponies.
Of course, that then ignores the weird one-offs like Photo Finish, Hoity Toity, and Sapphire Shores.
TLDR yes, it's fear of Mary Sues.

Pitch black OCs.(unless done with a lighter outline like #17 which makes it a little more bearable)
Shipping with Mane cast.(Seriously?)(#15 makes Dashie seem like some poor mare that needs rescuing AAARG)
Crazy body parts like antlers or strange tail like in #2.(this one less so than the others but still irks me)
These are all just personal opinion so feel free to do what you want.
I think it's just hard to appreciate OCs since we won't be familiar with them as the artist/writer will be, therefore won't see them in the same light. I do, however, wish there were more OCs being shown. I'd rather not see them overpower the main cast but would be nice to see them once in a while.

This. There's little point in showing us a picture of an OC that we're never going to meet. We need a story (text, comic, image series, whatever) that introduces us to your character if we're going to care about that character.
Sunny days looks awesome. OC pony drawers, take the following hints:
-Find colours that work for your pony. Colour wheel theory helps. For example, don't have a pony with a red mane and bright green coat or vice versa. It'll look terrible.
- Multi coloured manes = very good. Multi coloured coats = that poor pony has some kind of rare skin disorder (excluding zecora but she's a zebra not a pony).
Remember these 2 points and you'll do the world a favour.

Tip 1: If any one of the mane cast have more personality than you do in real life, probably should work on that before trying to make interesting characters.
Tip 2: Any one of the background ponies have more personality than you do. Please at least learn something about design before you vomit this garbage at us. Read a book. It's not hard.
Much better batch than the last lot. Still alot of outrageous colour designs though which really irritate me and scream of sueism.
One colour for the mane/tail and another for the coat. That is all you need. That and more Earth Ponies.

I would like to point out that 12, 14, 15, and 17 were commissions and credit to the OC's designs should go to their creators. Also in response to the images showing Pinkie Pie and Applejack's mothers. These were done prior to the episode revealing Pinkie Pie's parents.
:) As far as OC's go? I have quite a few as can be seen here, though they were created as an attempt to expand the family's of the original 6 main characters. Also, 19 should not be consider an OC, as she is a g4 representation of a g1 pony Sky Dancer.

Nope. Just don't think the internet needs more boring adolescent wish fulfillment fantasies, and you don't even need narratives to be able to tell that that's what 90% of these are.
Getting someone to edit your stuff before you go public with it isn't hard. A lot of people will even do it for free - just show it to someone, and that reflexive look of revulsion will tell you everything you need to know.
