IF I do remember correctly though, the whip-tail lizards species (In RL) have no males, and have managed to form a biological way of cloning. By performing a action similar to intercourse it stimulates the females into laying eggs that are genetic clones of themselves.

In this case magic was involved, Midnight isn't a genetic clone of Trixie because the magic used was a handy Polymorph spell (or maybe just Alter Self). Twilight is the father or at least was for a couple hours or so. Isn't magic fun?

I love the design for Spike in 36. Very dragon-ish (not like that "fat brontosaurus" look he had in the cutie mark chronicles! I really hope that was as much a mistake on Twi's part as her parents turning into potted plants!) and yet still very consistent with his canon style, being friendly- and approachable-looking. :) Nicely done.
