Hell Al Capony might still be possible, but that sure as hell isn't an alligator. This is a 4600DPI scan with a whole bunch of small modifications to sharpen it.
It could just be two nonsense background ponies in goggles and a hat, or it would actually be some season 2 characters.

Oh, AND first comment actually relating to the post. Seriously, people, I know this'll sound incredibly odd coming from someone who watches a show with the MLP name, but grow up a little.
I see a yellow mane and pink coat pony with an aviators hat and goggles next too a white coat pony with some kind of hat.
I would have to guess something like a self-insert of the poster artist. Kind of like video game easter eggs where the creators appear in a picture frame or something.
I see the pink pony with the aviator helmet but whatever's on the right I can't really make out.
It's just one pony. Her tail swishing up and back is what looks like Al Capony's hat, but the white underneath it is just shading effects.
My guess is it's just a badly colored Twilight.
Now, onto what I really think
It's a six legged pony with a purple polka dotted mane who flies through the air all over the world to hide magic sparkly eggs!
The pony on the left looks Appleloosan mare to me, and the one on the right reminds me of one of the paparazzi ponies that hounded Fluttershy in 'Green Isn't Your Color'

It looks like... a pink pony in a green helmet with goggles... blond mane... And a white filly with a brown Gatsby hat. Either that, or the pink pony has a brown tail for some reason, and the white is actually a cloud behind the balloon.

I'm subscribing to the one pony theory. The colors between the mane and tail don't quite match, but at that resolution, it could just be the way they averaged out from the vector.

The creator of the poster already said in the previous thread that the pony on the left is the background pony Cherry/Cherries Jubilee with aviator cap & goggles. They also made it sound like there is a character to her right, but they wouldn't give any clues as to who it was.

The only real mystery is the pony on the right. I'm guessing, since it is supposed to be a secret, it is a season 2 character and we don't have much of a chance figuring it out though...

There are a few ponies in here that seem... questionable. Why they're there? I have NO idea. That's why I wonder if maybe they can be for season 2?
As for the balloon, I have no idea.
Half of those are the recolors they made with G4 molds.
I think it could just be some little in-joke that was going around the art department, the OCs of the artists or something like that. Or maybe Hasbro is trying to see how obsessive we can get with minor details. We do over think some things a little much.

Guys, these scanned images are overkill. There's no need to scan the image above the resolution of the printing. Moreover, most scanners only have a 2400 dpi optical resolution, which means that if you try anything above this; it’ll only make a digital extrapolation, not adding any quality to it. A scanner that says it has 4800 dpi digital resolution is just a marketing stunt. Check your scanner specs for optical resolution before scanning an image.
For what I can tell the printing resolution is approx. 600 dpi. Scanning above this won't bring any more quality (it'll just show the printing dots). My advice to any one that has the original poster is to scan at 600 dpi to a JPEG (at 100% quality) and then use superresolution software like the Topaz Vivacity plugin for Photoshop to increase the overall quality of the image.
If anyone has the original poster, please make a 600 dpi scan on ponibooru (with the tag comic_con) and I’ll use Topaz Vivacity to enhance it. Also, if the poster is bigger than your scanner, scan overlapping parts that represent the whole poster, post them on ponibooru and I’ll do the reconstruction.

The pony on the right may have the same type of hat as Snappy Scoop, but their mane is appears to be completely different (in color and style).
The one on the left is the pink background pony that has a pair of cherries as her butt symbol, she is wearing a helmet with goggles or something. The one on the right, if it exists at all, is who knows.

All right guys, here it is, the link above is a superresolution image of the poster scanned by Simple (http://www.megaupload.com/?d=P0TVMFGE - thanks man). Look no further, this is the best image of the poster you can get (I’ll explain bellow why this is a better image than the 4800dpi scan featured in EQ).
In order to make this image I took the scanned image and applied the median filter (in the noise menu of Photoshop) with 2 pixels. Then I used the Topaz Vivacity filter "Enlarge2X" followed by Clean(YCbCr) with 2 Interactions.
The image is now 1200dpi and 19914x12908.
The quality of the JPEG was reduced so that it is less than 8Mb. However, since this is a superresolution image, the decrease of the JPEG quality doesn’t affect the overall image significantly. Therefore you can still see who is in the balloon (in my opinion, much clearer), and I still think we’re dealing with Cherry/Cherries Jubilee and Snappy Scoop (check http://mlp.wikia.com/wiki/List_of_ponies to compare the images).

I strongly advise everypony to use the Topaz Vivacity plugin for Photoshop: These superresolution techniques work very well in cartoon images like the ones from MLP:FIM.
