Somepony in their PR-department is doing a very good job.

While it's a pretty awesome gesture, it wouldn't mean as much to me. The truth is... I've already bought half of those! *ohtheshame* ;)
That is a very cool gesture on Hasbro's part. I think we can safely say they are, at the very least, 20% cooler than most big companies!
I think it's also a very shrewd one. Clearly, they've realised the insanely high potential in the brony fandom - which, I suspect is not dissimilar to the one enjoyed by, say Transformers (and, indeed, the twain may well meet, especially among the toy collectors). Getting grabby (as certain Other Companies are infamous for) gets you a bad reputation, but little gestures like this, and pretty much everything else they've done to support the community is gettings them scads of goodwill.
By outright encouraging us, they'll be laughing all the way to the bank.
Way to show you can be a big company and still be really awesome people too, Hasbro. I salute you!

Hasbro hasn't taken it down because they make more money off of the merchandise than they do off of the show. Therefore, youtube can help get make fans of the show who then in turn but merchandise. Hasbro is playing this one smart.

(As far as show-accurate toys, I think the buyers for major retailers decide certain things. Like, they'll buy 500 units as-is, but make it pink and they'll buy 5,000 units instead. Write to major retailers and complain. I truly suspect Hasbro would not mind at all making toys on-model if they had a choice.)
