    1. I have read this before and i LOVE it. I'm suprised that this hasn't been posted here before.
      I recommend this.

    2. Incoming shitstorm, captain!

    3. I find funny you put a male/male warning when 70% of the fics are about lesbian ponies.

    4. This is finally up? Good. It deserves it more than most of the stories on this site, mine included.

      Excellent story, highly recommended.

    5. Wait. There are enough males in the cast to ship them?

      ReplyDelete
    6. HAHAHAHHAA. Big Daddy Mac's. Oh sweet Celestia it all makes SENSE. Great story so far. I'm not usually one for shipping but it's adorable. Seriously though, whats with the warning?

      ReplyDelete
    7. I think the warning is just so people won't be surprised. When the entire cast is female, f/f shipping is par for the course. m/m isn't.

That said, thank you to whomever submitted this. I've been trying to find it to read the second part for a while now.

I should also mention I love this story. It's sad and emotional, but also kind of humorous in parts.

    8. That was actually quite good. A bit disturbing in parts, and AJ acting like she did in part 2 seemed out of character.. then again she is a rural pony.

      At least it ended well.

    9. Author here - the warning actually shouldn't be so much for the m/m (though Celestia knows that makes some ponies froth at the mouth, don't really know why) but for the first scene in the story (hence the slightly-grimdark tag) and the mature themes throughout.

I don't want to scare anypony away, so take it from me that the first...delicate scene is actually the most and essentially only grimdark one.

    10. Maybe just me, but sometimes it's difficult to tell whether somepony is speaking or thinking or which pony is speaking.

Also...i just prefer the term "Colt chaser." "Foal fiddler" sounds like a pedophile, unless that's the purpose you were going for. And "colt clopper"? The term 'clop' as a sexual reference generally only applies to us bronies, so it's a little awkward.

OH DEAR SWEET CELESTIA THANK YOU for that twist at the end. Too many gay stories and movies end stupid-tragic, and i'm glad yours isn't one of them.

Overall a good story; i liked the second part the best. Caramel's insults to the FF had me cracking up. We need more m/m stories here, if nothing else to prove to others that we exemplify love and tolerance.

Hi, I'm just lurking because it's just gone up - this fic actually shows its age in the language used (it was written a while ago - long story that in itself).

"colt clopper" became in later fics "colt cuddler" (haven't personally heard "colt chaser") to indicate a gay male pony ("filly fooler" being the female) - but this was written before we even HAD that word. I haven't changed it.

and yes, if you've never heard of gays being equated with pedophilia then I'm surprised - being labelled a "foal fiddler" was *entirely* aimed at that slur.

and the tweest! lets hope it doesn't get splurged across the comments because I originally wrote it to tear at the old heart strings just a tad :)

    12. You put a warning for m/m shipping?

Jesus, you just don't learn, do you?

      ReplyDelete
    13. If you took off the warning and just put m/m itd be acceptable.

But the warning part makes my heart sad

    14. @krass mcwrriter

don't stress about it, I'll ask blogpony but really, I see it as a challenge.

    15. @Anonymous

      Agreed.
I get the impression from reading shipping fics that the community as a whole is comfortable with gays. I'd hate to think that acceptance is only applied only towards lesbian relationships, for whatever reason.
      Hooray for love and tolerance!

    16. I'm not gay. And I liked this. Just like I'm not gay and I like MLP. And I'm not gay but I also like heavy metal, video games and reading stories about love found in hardship. Just letting y'all know. Eeeeyup.

    17. Excellent story, thank you. Although the [spoiler] at the end kinda annoyed me from a logical point of view (especially the talk about murder), from an emotional point of view it was FUCK YEAH.

And yes, the warning is a pity.

      ReplyDelete
    18. m/m warning? Honestly? It isn't my thing but at the same time 90% of the shipping is already gay, who cares.

      ReplyDelete
    19. Thanks Midnight. That was a great story, and a real tear-jerker there towards the end. Good message.
I'm a little disappointed in how some of the characters acted in the beginning of part 2, but it was necessary.
      Hope you keep writing.

    20. While well written and a good story I find it terribly unrealistic that a pony/person turn from gay basher to gay just because they had there nads/junk cut off. He could have instead become understanding of them and not a hater. would have gay friends, and found a mare that would love him despite his imposed shortcoming. He could also have remained single. Heck this is a magical world they could have repaired the damage. But still I enjoyed reading the rest of the fic

    21. That was... a beautiful story.

The OCs were imagined wonderfully, passionate, and the setting is unique as far as I'm concerned, with regards to Equestria and the whole Ecumenical Council thing. And the whole setting of FF and Gay pride and such? And just what happened to RR overall? It's just such a unique situation, that ends as a wonderfully passionate story with a great message. Amazing story, Midnight Shadow.

    22. Wow this was finally posted here, huh?

I like it but I still stand by my original stance when first reading it that it'd do best without the shipping. It just seems unneeded in my opinion.

Well I don't want to go blabbing about my fic too much, but that's part of the plot. Psychologically speaking, those who profess the hardest that they are straight get most turned on by homosexual porno.

Yes, somebody got paid to research that.

Rocky in my story was so far in the closet he couldn't bring himself to realise it, and the whole...I guess it's a macguffin of the story, sets him on the path of self-discovery.

It didn't turn him gay - nothing can - but he came to terms with himself.

This story's just a vehicle to talk about the world through - hopefully a fun one without too much preaching.

      First off, please read:

      http://www.cracked.com/article/85_6-bullshit-facts-about-psychology-that-everyone-believes/

Nope is kind of all I have to say. It could be true, and sometimes is, but that doesn't speak for any kind of huge psychological, personality definition for anyone who is especially homophobic.

That said, it's just a coming-to-terms story with love involved as the main way he realizes something. Nothing wrong with that at all.

      ReplyDelete
    25. @NinesTempest

The cracked article aside, a lot of closet homosexuals do tend to really externalize their hatred of gays if they've been raised to believe it's wrong. It's not specific to homosexuality, which is what the article addressed, but it is a psychological trait that applies to internalized repression based on value judgements.

      ReplyDelete
    26. @NinesTempest

you know the funniest thing? Right there, first thing it says:

OK, we admit this is sometimes true. There was even a popular study done in 1996 with 64 male college students, 35 of whom were homophobes (according to a survey they filled out gauging their attitudes on the subject). The researchers hooked a meter to their dongs (seriously) and had them watch lots of porn (yes, this happened--here's the damned link).

that's precisely the study I was talking about. Booya.

Anyway, I wasn't saying that EVERYONE who is anti-gay is secretly trololoving the cawk, just that yes it does happen and this character is like that.

Maybe the study was bullshit, maybe not, but I do know such happens (squeaky wheel wants to get greased and all that).

Anyway, you enjoyed the story. That's what counts.

    27. Well, either way, i'm inspired for my m/m shipfic. Too bad almost all m/m fics have OCs. Not that they're bad, but it turns off a lot of readers for some reason. There are just no broad male characters, except Big Mac. Caramel is in danger of being Token Gay, but that's a little predictable considering his appearance changes.

Some anon said that it's weird that getting castrated automatically 'turns' one gay, which i guess set off this storm. I just thought it was REALLY odd that a society of ponies would mutilate their own kind in such a way.

      ReplyDelete
    28. All I'm wondering if there is a reference I am not getting at the end. I have no idea which four words Bic Mac said, I just feel I am missing something :P

      ReplyDelete
    29. It's actually here?! FINALLY. I remember reading this on fanfiction.net ages ago (Lost the link, though). I was wondering why it wasn't here before.

Glad the 'warning' wording seems to have been removed by now, but really, it's absurd to make such a big deal about labeling/warning about OMG m/m slash, just because by nature of the canon it's only possible by shipping bit characters, making it ridiculously rare. It's not like bit-character shipping like Vinyl Scratch/"the bouncer from Green Isn't Your Color" merited a special warning of its own.

    30. I actually liked this a lot!

    31. @Baree

      ding ding ding!

you win a prize! It's an internet cookie, but it's a prize none the less.

Yes, four little words...what were they?

You'll have to wait to find out.

      ReplyDelete
    32. @jenovaii

It happened to Rocky because it was a throw-away line from an earlier fic of mine, and then I thought, "well, why not run with it?"

Maybe it's absurd, maybe it makes no sense. I'm not sure myself, to be honest, but it seemed to work.

      ReplyDelete
    33. @Midnight

Oh, will there be a 3rd chapter?

      ReplyDelete
    34. 5 stars here.
1: I don't have anything against OC ponies - bah, I use them myself.
2: Your characters are quite well developed for a short story, so I thumb up to this.
3: Great burst of fresh air in all of these F/F shippings - also, well written with a strong, however a little predictable plot.
4: So. 5 Stars, because I liked it a lot, I mean, a LOT. I shed a tear to this one actualy, so not bad, huh?

      ReplyDelete
    35. @fireant
predictable? Drat. Well okay, I'm a sucker for a happy ending - but I hope you didn't see the tweest!

      @Baree
indeedy, when I get around to making it somewhat believable. Those four little words are pretty important ones, you see.

      ReplyDelete
    36. There was a tweest? (I assume you mean twist).

      ReplyDelete
    37. @Baree

Did you read part 2? Or was Twilight fooling nopony?

      ReplyDelete
    38. @Midnight

I don't want to be a meanypants, but yes. Twilight fooled nopony here ;) Come on! He couldn't die like that. Sheesh!

      ReplyDelete
    39. Really enjoyed it all in all, was a bit back and forth on some parts but still an excellent story.

Altho the way AJ and big mac acted at first just felt wrong and out of character, but it was for the sake of the story im guessing.

      ReplyDelete
    40. Is Big Daddy Mac the same as Big Mac? I'm kind of confused here.

      Otherwise, brilliant fic.

Check under my author tag and all will be revealed - the first/second story entry on EqD :)

      ReplyDelete
    42. Hey did you even ask to use that Caramel picture? The person who drew it doesnt like it when people use her drawings without permission its just plain rude

      ReplyDelete
    43. @Wolfytails

I didn't ask to use that picture at all (I just wrote the story), so maybe the artist him/herself should contact Sethisto if he/she has a problem with it.

I take it you're not the artist? Have you asked the artist yourself? Do you know that blogpony hasn't contacted the artist or vice-versa?

I'm all for artists getting their dues so if you feel it's an issue, let me know where *I* can contact the actual artist and I'll find out, kay?

    44. @Midnight

Hiya.... I've been going around, looking at stories that were perhaps going to update at some point in the future. So I was wondering if that 3rd chapter was still in the works :)

      ReplyDelete
    45. @Baree

Hiho, if you come back (it was yesterday) then yes, I do plan on continuing this one at some point.

I've not had so much time to actually sit down and write, but I do want to. There are unanswered questions and experiences.

But relax, I don't think I'll do Big Mac and Caramel's Big Gay Wedding. That'd be too stupid.

      ReplyDelete
    46. @Midnight

Heh. Nothing is stupid if its written well ^^ Anyway, I'll keep waiting then ^^

    47. Quite a touching story. There was a few tears in my eyes.

      That mean it's good, isn't?
