So I was digging through my email, and came upon something from hubtv.com. Expecting it to be yet another troll, I was skeptical at first.
Turns out it was COMPLETELY legit.
This is a 90 second extended version of Equestria Girls! Complete with a shout out to bronies as a whole! Exclusively for Equestria Daily! I don't even know what that means!

ReplyDeleteGood point.
Don't forget, this may also mean OFFICIAL MLP MERCHANDISE aimed at adults, like non-girly t-shirts in men's sizes, or better extras on dvds, or the reappearance of fan favorites like Trixie.
Why are we being negative about this, guys?
Well. This was unexpected and interesting! Glad to see they're still willing to have this sort of fun with the property in the off-season--not to mention (possibly?) bringing the fandom along for the ride!
ReplyDeleteAlso, cartoon shows have subtle in-jokes towards their online fandoms all the time, or pop culture, or the latest trends, and rarely does it hurt them. I'd say subtle nods like this are just fine and awesome--the second we get into Airbender territory (where the fandom got constantly trolled) then maybe we all can panic. ^_^
As for me, my only annoyance is that thanks to ponies, I've now come dangerously close to being able to tolerate that song :)
It's important to note that promotions are not typically done by the production that makes the show itself, but rather in-network. Likely, either Discovery or Hasbro has a promotions department that put this sort of thing together, because that's typically how it goes. I know that's how it is with most networks that I'm aware of. Even when a production has heavy ties with the network, it's generally this way.
ReplyDeleteIt's the promo departments job to...well...promote. To attract the largest group of people possible. Tossing in 'bronies' and 'DJ-PON3' in a promo is an incredibly simple way of noting that there is an extra audience and they are aware of them, without actually effecting the audience that they are really aiming for.
BUT, that does not mean there's going to be any effect on the show itself. Because the promotions department and the group that make the show itself are two different sections. You ever see a really bad promo for a really good show, or a really good promo for a really terrible show? Same deal.
Promotions is actually one of the most creative areas in television, you have a LOT of leeway in what you can do, as long as it's good. You typically have access to a bunch of footage, access to voice actors/actors/stars because it's in their contract that they need to do this sort of thing, and are basically told just to go to town.
Also? Promotions tends to be the 'youngest' department in a television network. Doing promos is a very good way of breaking into post-production, so many people out of school and trying to get into the business go for it. That makes them about 'brony' age as well.
It should also be noted that doing promos can be EXCEPTIONALLY boring. Have you ever seen a promo that seems just exceptionally sarcastic about the show they're promoting? The same deal here. They do things to amuse themselves and see if they can get away with it.
It's a thank you to the fans, nothing more. People need to chill.
TLDR: Worrying about a show suddenly turning bad because of a promo is like worrying your Coke isn't going to taste as good because of a commercial you see, and visca versa. Promotions /= Product.
Words fail me.. on how awesome this is.
ReplyDeleteWell, my fears of The Hub ruining Season 2 through their misguided intentions has just been completely banished.
ReplyDelete@Anonymous
ReplyDeleteI hope DJ PON-3 is just a nickname when she's at work and Vinyl Scratch is her real name
HOLY MOLEY.
ReplyDeleteThe Hub=Luna tier
SPAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAACE
ReplyDeleteThat's how far my mind was blown.
30 seconds of this was awesome enough. 90 seconds is just glorious. And great to see Hasbro is acknowledging their massive outside demographic; if the bigwigs know we exist, things can only get better from here.
ReplyDeleteOkay, that was me being completely restrained. Now for my actual, completely id-driven reaction to the video:
YESYESYESYESYESYESYESYESYESYESYESYESYESYESYESYESYESYESYESYESYESYESYESYESYESYESYESYESYESYESYES!!!
Oh snap, infinite grin stuck on my face since first watch!
ReplyDelete...
Need to watch it a couple of hundred times more to remove it!
O3O
ReplyDeleteSo...awesome
This fandom has reach critical mass... And I love it
ReplyDeleteThat is the greatest video I've ever seen.
ReplyDelete*Mentioned DJ PON-3 and Bronies* That is the greatest mention I've ever heard.
*mind=blown*
o3o
ReplyDeleteSo...awesome.
Seth seth seth, you should have saved this for the 8 Million Hits Post. Seriously, we shall be hitting that very, very soon.
ReplyDeleteAnd yay for more Vynyl Scratch, maybe she'll get more scenes in Season 2 for more of these Music Videos?
...WHAT!?!?!
ReplyDeleteHA-HAH!
This officially made my day.
ReplyDeleteWords cannot describe.
ReplyDeleteWAIT, DID THIS JUST ACTUALLY HAPPEN!?! OH MY GOD.
ReplyDeleteManly tears of ridiculous awesomeness have been shed. When I heard bronies, I literally stopped breathing. To hell with waking my apartment complex at 6:30 in the morning I cheered!
ReplyDeleteQSA: Hasbro acknowledging us will mean one of two things, 1 good 1 bad.
ReplyDelete1. The show will stay in the same direction it's headed, but give a few nods to the outside demographic and maybe include a few of our fanon. (For example, Derpy is now a real character. This is the good option)
2. The show will switch targets completely to us, scaring us and the true demographic away. (This is the BAD option)
The fact they know we exist is amazing, lets just hope it doesn't blow out of proportion, (though knowing Laura Faust, it most likely won't)
Funny, i see the likes increasing but not the views on the vid and now it has more likes than views. Aweseome ^^
ReplyDeleteOH
ReplyDeleteMAH
GAWD
I only woke up about an hour ago, and already this is the BEST DAY EVER. The video rocked, but it was almost just as awesome reading these 200+ fangasm comments. Everypony in this community is 120% cooler than they were before this show (except for the paranoid, subtle-fanservice haters...really bronies? Do you enjoy anything in life, ever?)
FURRY COATS, SO CUTE WE'LL BLOW YOUR MI-IND
AHHH AHH AHH AH AH AH, AHHH AHH AHH AH AH AH AH AHHHH
Pinky Pie...'dat uvula....
I watched this. I was like, holy shit I'm tripping on ponies.
ReplyDeleteRead the full description. Shoutout to bronies?
Watched again. Dear Celestia, this is crazy O__O
Read some comments hinting that DJ PON-3 is canon.
Watched again. LUNA FUCK ME WITH THE MOON
well, i don't see all this hate that ponies are talking about, really...
ReplyDeleteThe video is funny, I still get a bit disturbed about the parasprites bikini, but I guess that's MY problem and... well... that's all?
Oh yes, and the song is catchy.
It had to be done. It was done.
ReplyDeletehttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MfvLhVdzJLU
Enjoy.
Speechless OuO
ReplyDeletemy mind is officially blown, there are no words to describe how awesome this is.
ReplyDeleteBEST DAY EVER.
ReplyDeleteat 0:29 i thought spike said "Come on Bronies"
i watched it again.
and again.
again.
This can't be-
i still obsessed on tellIng myself "HE SAID PONIES"
i can't believe this is too awesome to be true
Here's your 15 min
ReplyDeletehttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MfvLhVdzJLU
BECAUSE PONIES.
My brain is now the furthest ever in space.
ReplyDeleteWhy?
Because Hasbro wins space and is it's father.
Things that are failing to post: youtube links.
ReplyDeleteTRYING AGAIN.
http://youtu.be/MfvLhVdzJLU
15 min if you want it.
@Anonymous
ReplyDeleteI'm going to agree with the other guy and say list some damn shows ruined by fanservice.
I'm not saying it couldn't happen, I'm just curious.
So, I wake up LATE today, not that it matters being unemployed and rapidly running out of money, roll out of bed and check my computer. Opps, left EqD up (no, I ALWAYS have EqD up). Well, let's reload and ...
ReplyDeleteExtended Version, huh?
Wait, what?
:o
:O
<:O
BEST MORNING EVER! Now about the rest of the day...*loops*
@Anonymous
ReplyDeleteYou really think Hasbro would let their toy seller that targets young girls suddenly start targeting a different demographic?
Are you serious?
Wow, this is gonna suOHMYGODTHISISAWESOME
ReplyDeleteheh, I don't know about you guys but I'm starting to like hasbro.
ReplyDeleteThe original made my ears bleed. Now this, is making my ears bleed rainbows. Thank you Hub, Thank you hasbro, because now I have literally had 3 FUCKING aneurisms in a row from how epic this is.
ReplyDeleteOH MY GOD THIS IS THE GREATEST THING I'VE EVER SEEN IN MY LIFE.
ReplyDelete@Minalkra
ReplyDeleteWait, it's not 3 PM, it's 10:30 AM! HOLY BALLS IT IS NOW THE BEST DAY FREAKING EVER!
How do we know that its actually legit? is it on hub.com yet?
ReplyDeleteI smiled so hard at "Bronies" that I think I broke my face.
ReplyDeleteAnd I couldn't care less.
@Anonymous
ReplyDeleteUnless Pinkie's singer has an evil clone somewhere I'm pretty sure this is legit.
Guys... I think we finally broke the internet...
ReplyDeleteSo apparently the youtube links get stripped, so we'll try this:
ReplyDeleteHit youtube, video ID is MfvLhVdzJLU
Blah blah. 15 min, dealwithit.jpg
See, now this is why I can't sleep! 6 hours ago this didn't exist and now it's here. Love ya too Hub!
ReplyDeleteNO....WAY... THAT IS AWESOME THANK YOU SO MUCH THE HUB/MLP!!! This song is WAY WAY I MEAN WAY better than California Girls. Ill be singing this everyday! THANK YOU SOOO MUCH!!! You are all the best ^.^ no really. you are x)
ReplyDeleteI've been waiting for a longer version. Wonderful!
ReplyDeleteStill has it as my ringtone.
For us who don't get the hub, could somepony be kind enough to stream and/or record it and then post somewhere?
ReplyDeleteдаёш пони в массы, во всех странах мира!!!!!
ReplyDelete@BagOfChips
ReplyDeleteMfw, Trollestia made an evil Pinkie Pie VA clone to sing this song.
So yeah, make sure to drink for 12 hours and then NOT NOTICE when comments have moved to a new page. MY BAD! Sorry for the link spam.
ReplyDeleteThis is too awesome.
ReplyDeleteBeing recognized from the producers of the show, DJ Pon-3 an "official" character, extended version.
Too awesome...TOO AWESOME!!!
@Anonymous
ReplyDeleteTHIS. A thousand times, THIS.
You party poopers are WAYYYYYYYY over reacting.
BRONIES!
ReplyDeleteUP ON THOSE MOTHERFUCKERS!
I leave to go to the store, and I come back and this has happened...um best start to a day EVER!! Also laughing at people who think Hasbro would ever allow their toy sales to be compromised by a shift in show target audience.
ReplyDeleteGoddamn it, YouTube badly needs a 'loop' button. That way, I could just hit it and turn it right up.
ReplyDeleteHOLY CRAP PINKIE PIE JUST SAID BRONIES. I think I just soiled myself.
ReplyDeleteGreat, now I need to pick up the bits and pieces of my brain that got scattered around my room from how hard my mind was blown.
ReplyDeleteMad props for the Hub, Hasbro, and everyone else who was behind this!
OMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMG
ReplyDeleteI THINK I JUST DIED AND WENT TO PONY HEAVEN
This is WAY. TOO. AWESOME.
ReplyDeleteI have yet to read a sad fic that brings tears to my eyes.
ReplyDeleteThis did. For real. But they were good tears. I should probably be embarrassed, but this is the happiest I have felt in a long time. Thank you the Hub, this is awesome beyond words.
Now to listen to the mp3 endlessly for a fortnight or so.
AWESOME!! Also, this is the first million get I'll be on here for!
ReplyDeleteI came friendship.
ReplyDelete>FAVORITE pony fans.
ReplyDelete>Thats right guys, Hub knows about is!
*jumps around in circles*
YES! YES! YES! YES! YES! YES! YES! YES! YES! YES! YES! YES! YES! YES! YES! YES! YES! YES! YES! YES!
Fillies and Gentlecolts, we just passed 8 millions pageviews.
ReplyDeleteSo 9 millions on Wednesday?
Heh... y'know, I've never been part of something like this.
ReplyDeleteIt's actually pretty cool. I'm not worried they'll ruin the show. They know what brought us here to begin with.
If it ain't broke, don't fix it!
8 0 0 0 0 0 0
ReplyDeleteYEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH
8 MILLION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteso much yay!
ReplyDeleteOooo where's the new banner
8 million? cake time everypony!
I missed the 8 mil mark because I was checking a tab that I had left open for a while...
ReplyDeleteFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU-
Awesome video plus 8 millions, best day ever!
ReplyDeleteUnfudging Believable! Actual acknowledgement from creators/producers! By the looks of it, this isn't some joke made by a couple of Hub employees. This is an official promo aimed at the periphery demographic.
ReplyDeleteAlso, I doubt the show will change. If anything they may go a bit more Looney Toons/Animaniacs which had similar young demographics but jokes for adults as well.
The last think fans or producers would want is 4CHAN the Animated Series guest starring Ponies.
Or South Park with Ponies for that matter.
I fully expect a smug Celestia in Season 2 to stare at the screen and exclaim, "Problem Bronies?" though.
Also like to point out to the doomsdayers that season two is practically already finished.
ReplyDeleteI AM HONORED. And my eyes are tearing up. I'm so damn happy. T_T
ReplyDeleteI do find it funny that the first thing on several people's minds was "Oop, its popularity has been recognized so the show is ruined."
ReplyDeleteThere is no realistic situation where this ad spot could lead to the show being derailed. It was done by a different group than those who produce the show. It was largely made to shout out to the periphery demographic. And Hasbro wouldn't be stupid enough to retool the show when the target demographic is still obviously the same as it was for Season 1.
The most this could mean for the future of the franchise is that we may get more Derpy-style throw-ins and perhaps more merchandise that Bronies would appreciate.
Nothing else will change.
*Manly squee*
ReplyDelete@Anonymous
ReplyDeleteWhat the hell's YOUR problem? How is getting a simple shout-out from the show a bad thing at all?
My mind asploded... and THEN...it asloded again!
ReplyDelete@Anonymous
ReplyDeleteCan you do that? Can you asplode twice?
My guess is the writers already knew about the popularity among males and adults (thanks to Lauren Faust) and they suggested something like this to the Producers who went like my avatar and said, "Sure! Why not! Anything that brings in more toy sales and popularity"
Mark my words. They could have been planning this and Season 2 is full of winks and nudges.
Ha!
ReplyDeleteNow ain't that something, Didn't a one of us reckon to see the community given a shout out over the air like that!
Loved it, good to see they care about us in the dry spell, speaks well of em.
This is so great...
ReplyDeleteThere is only one way forward now.
Oblivion.
My heart is smiling and nothing is going to make it stop, this is single handedly the greatest thing man kind has ever produced.
ReplyDeleteAlso Pinkie did the impossible she made a Katy Perry song enjoyable.
@GamerPony
ReplyDelete>Also, I doubt the show will change.
Since we like the show as it is changes aren't necessary and hold the danger of destroying everything.
Nopony should even think about this.
@AnonymousDon't know if this counts as fanservice, but Glee.
ReplyDeleteThe show was amazing until the producers realized the money was in releasing the songs on iTunes.
Of course, since MLP is technically already a merchandise driven show, I don't know if the same thing can happen here...
@Anonymous
ReplyDelete[2101] War was Beginning
Now they should make something based on Inception
ReplyDeleteBecause everypony loves Inception.
...is this pony/brony heaven? did i died after my mind was blown twice???
ReplyDeleteIt was so hard not to start yelling YESYESYESYESYESYESYESYESYESYES while this was playing.
ReplyDeleteI think my mind just broke. Please, let this be real and not a figment of my hungover-fan dreaming.
ReplyDeleteIt's like a sonic rainboom just went off in my head and it NEVER STOPPED!
ReplyDeleteThis was the most awesome thing I've seen in a LONG time. Thanks for making my day, Hub!
bronies and DJ-PON3 damn hasbro finnaly listening to the community!! EPIC WIN!
ReplyDeleteI love this community. I love this show and what it's done for everyone. I love everything.
ReplyDeleteThis made my morning! How can my day get any better?
ReplyDeleteI want to see a PrntScrn image or a transcript of the e-mail though.
ReplyDeleteThis is still awesome, but has anypony else noticed that there will have been 10,000 views in an hour?
ReplyDeleteThis is amazing, I honestly wouldn't be all that surprised if a eventual official soundtrack comes out, we get a full version, if not more covers.
ReplyDeletebronies abd DJ-PON3 its oficcial hasbro finally listen to the community!!! THIS VIDEO IS SO MUCH WIN TO DESCRIBE!!!
ReplyDeleteI can't stop grinning, this is freakin' awesome!
ReplyDeleteHOLY CRAP. <3
ReplyDeleteThis is amazing! I don't think this forebodes anything bad for the show itself, it's just a fun promo. Tons of shows I watch have done silly promos and ads, that never took away from the show itself. It's cool that they acknowledged us!
*plays the video again*
This is great.
ReplyDeleteThe HUB is great.
The World is alright now. I think I have my faith in executives kinda restored.
why do i feel like laughing like Rarity did in Sonic Rainboom?
ReplyDeleteMwaha!
This has to be the greatest promo in the entire recorded history of TV. Fanservice? Yes? Awesome singing? Yes. Pinkie Pie? Yes. Am i missing anything?
ReplyDeleteSOMEONE HELP ME
ReplyDeleteI JUST CAN'T STOP FAPPING
THIS IS INCREDIBLE
I just fluttered myself
ReplyDeleteBy the beard of Zeus... It's cloudy where I live, but I think the sun just peered out from inside my mind.
ReplyDeleteMind blown. Walls now covered in brain matter.

ReplyDelete@Anonymous
ReplyDeleteThere is no way we can repel awesome of this magnitude
@Anonymous
ReplyDeleteLOL!!! U MAD!!!!!!!
Oh... my.
ReplyDeleteI have the largest, stupidest grin on my face right now. This is so very, very awesome. I loved the shorter version (actually woke up with it running through my head >_> ) but this one is so much cooler, which I didn't think was possible.
And I think it's nice that us older fans got an nod of acknowledgment in such a way.
ANDREA LIBMAN!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE YOU FOR THIS!!!
ALSO EVERYPONY ELSE! I AM SO FULL OF JOY AND HAPPINESS THAT I LOVE EVERYONE RIGHT NOW!
I LOVE YOU ALL!!!
What episode is that screenshot at 9 seconds (with Spike in the library, looking at the grass sandwich) from? I don't recognize it.
ReplyDeleteThat made my morning warm and fuzzy <3
ReplyDeleteAnd for everyone thinking the are going to cater to some of the.... well un-PG and depraved things (cupcakes) that pop up now and again I have to ask you this. Are you crazy? Really?
It just shows they love us, appreciate us, and want our money c: (but with love)
Now if only they could put the show on at a more reasonable time. And the rest of their animated shows. They've gotta have a little more faith in those than the old shows of decades past, because new shows are what will give a channel holding ground for the future.
ReplyDeleteTwo words:
ReplyDeleteHoly Crap
I mean, an EqD exclusive? That's a first!
Maybe we'll get more exclusives in the future?
HOLY SHIT
ReplyDeleteTHIS IS DELICIOUS
There's nothing cooler than official content made especially for the fans. This just made my day.
ReplyDeleteI call pony holiday on this!!!
ReplyDeleteBrony Recognition Day - May 27
>Bronies
ReplyDelete>DJ-PON3
20% cooler can't describe this. It's over NINE THOUSAAAAND PERCENT COOLER!
I can not believe how utterly awesome this is. I can't find the words to describe what I'm feeling right now. So I'll just quote Rainbow Dash.
ReplyDelete"Oh my Gosh! Oh My Gosh! OH MY GOSH!!!!"
Hasbro you rock. I take back everything negative I have siad about your views on Pony. The first video gave me a little chuckle, (remixing a Katy Perry song) but this?! Honest to goodness fandom recognition? My mined is blown.
Did Daniel Ingram write this? It is amazing. Shannon Chan-Kent is a great singer.
Bro-hoofs all around!
Anyway back my regularly scheduled fangasm. "Oh my Gosh! Oh My Gosh! OH MY GOSH!!!!"
why.jpg
ReplyDeleteOH MY GOSH THIS IS THE MOST AWESOMENESS THNG EVER.
ReplyDeleteBEST!
ReplyDeleteDAY!
EVER!!!
@Anonymous
ReplyDeleteNo. Hub did this by themselves without Ingram's involvement.
I Love you Hub!
ReplyDeleteThis is the greatest thing in the history of forever!
Now all of us Bronies in the states that have the Hub will have to show our support, thanks and appreciation for this gift by tuning in on Saturday for the official airing.
Ohmygoshohmygoshohmygoshohmygoshohmygoshohmygosh!!! That's awesome! I love that DJ P0N-3 made it in! This is definitely *NOT* cannon, but it's cool that Hasbro hears us. XD
ReplyDeleteThis gives me some hope that they really will publish a nice Season 1 with commentary. Are you Hasbro folks reading this? Blu-Ray + Commentary. I would drop $80 right now. Just sayin'.
My literal IRL reaction:ohmygoshohmygoshohmygoshohmygoshohmygoshohmygosh!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteBest. Fandom. Ever!!
This is beyond amazing.
ReplyDeleteFangasm.
I'm sitting here in the middle of a Starbucks with a huge fuckin' goofy smile on my face.
:D
ReplyDeleteHub...I LOVE YOU.
ReplyDeleteOkay so...
ReplyDeleteThat scene where Spike is looking at a grass sandwich. Just what episode was that from? Cause I sure as shoot don't remember that...
@Anonymous
ReplyDeleteYeah what anon said.
I think it is nice that they include a little nod here and there to the fandom, they are surely not changing enything in the show because of that. It is good enough that they recognize us.
OHMYGOSH OHMYGOSH OHMYGOSH OHMYGOSH OHMYGOSH OHMYGOSH OHMYGOSH OHMYGOSH OHMYGOSH OHMYGOSH OHMYGOSH OHMYGOSH OHMYGOSH OHMYGOSH OHMYGOSH OHMYGOSH OHMYGOSH OHMYGOSH OHMYGOSH OHMYGOSH OHMYGOSH OHMYGOSH OHMYGOSH OHMYGOSH OHMYGOSH OHMYGOSH OHMYGOSH OHMYGOSH OHMYGOSH OHMYGOSH
ReplyDeleteTHEY LOVE US! THEY REALLY LOVE US!
ReplyDeleteThis is how things should be. Creators of awesome things being aware of their fan base and adapting to it.
ReplyDeleteIt's awesome that they mentioned Bronies and DJ Pon-3. :D
Everyone view, like and favorite this so it makes it on the Youtube homepage!
ReplyDeleteWell I just popped my fangasm cherry. This will make the rest of my day completely ponyfabulous
ReplyDelete"And Bronies,
ReplyDeletehang out too!"
We're officially part of the MLP universe. Way to go community!
Oh SHIT these motherfuckers said "DJ PON-3" and 'Bronies"
ReplyDeleteI just need to go back to bed, because nothing will top this today. Day complete.
ReplyDeleteFuck... so much autotune!
ReplyDeleteOMG OMG OMG OMG OMGGGGGGGGGGGGGG
ReplyDeleteAre you sure it's legitimately from the Hub? The verse sounds like it has a different singer from the chorus.
ReplyDelete@SonicRainboom93
ReplyDeleteThe only correction would be:
"Our Bronies hang out too"
Ponies going the route of Weird Al? Who could ask for more?
ReplyDeleteNot only that, people are complaining about fan service... in a commercial. A commercial. WTF, people.
ReplyDeleteby the way, this is amazing.
This comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDelete@Anonymous
ReplyDeleteWell, we'll find out tomorrow.
I don't imagine I actually have anything to worry about, but I hope they realize that DJ P0N-3 is supposed to be her stage name, with her actual name being Vinyl Scratch.
NOTHING CAN STOP US NOW!!!!!
ReplyDeleteBWUAHAHAHAHA
@Anonymous
ReplyDeleteWell if it isn't legit, we'll find out tomorrow since he says it's supposed to air on the channel.
The Space Core's initial reaction when first entering Space?
ReplyDeleteNothing compared to what I feel right now.
Existential crisis: Solved.
ReplyDeleteI'm a Brony forever now.
Nothing, absolutely nothing can take away my love for Pinkie Pie and MLP.
i said it once and i'll say it again. pinkie pie needs to be the new pop singer. its great to see the makers of the show know we're around and is a good thing as long as they keep things mild and in the backround though im sure somethings in the fandom will and should never find their way into the series
ReplyDeleteThis was so awesome! They like us, they really like us. Although this was probably just as much for general audiences as it was for us Bronies (the heads up was nice).
ReplyDeleteI do not think this means that the show will be changing for season 2. Everyone knows that we fell in love with the show for what it is now. Remember FiM was made for kids (primarily girls) and their families to enjoy. A formula we helped prove works.
@Derpy Hooves
Well Derpy getting derp-eyes was a decision made by the show producers, this video was a decision by the executives of The Hub. That is a whole different level in the corporate ladder.
I'm squealing and grinning like a madman!!! :D
ReplyDeleteEQUESTRIA GIRLS ON REPEAT FOREVER!
This was incredibly awesome.
ReplyDeleteAlso LOL @ the couple of drama queens going woe-is-me over this. Oh internet, you never fail to amuse!
well, I do seem to recall the OG spike referring to the male ponies as "bronies" once in that one episode.. (of course, it could jsut have been degredation in the tape/memetic shaping on my part.) so, it kinda works on multiple levels.
ReplyDeleteWow. This is absolutely amazing!
ReplyDeleteAnd, to top it off, it was posted on my birthday.
20% Cooler isn't enough to describe this...
HUB thanked us with three of the things we love the most. Acknowledgement that they know Bronies are watching, making a pony we love Canon, and a NEW PINKIE SONG!
ReplyDeleteNever been so proud to be a member of a niche (well) fanbase, which everyone who doesn't "get it" laughs about. Brohoof, guys!
ReplyDeleteomgomgomgomg!!!!!
ReplyDeleteThey put be the extended version! YESS! I really want to put be some awesome guitar to this shiz!
This song is going right into my manly music playlist
ReplyDelete@Cooper
ReplyDeleteMake the most of it. Those are the most joyfilled aneurisms you are ever likely to have ever.
Fucking awesome. Fan base acknowledged - Hasbro, Hub, and the MLP Production team: Officially super fucking awesome.
@Sugar Fairy
ReplyDeleteI don't know why nopony noticed that before...that was the first thing that blew my mind when I started watching.
That's not from any episode in Season 1.
WE HAVE SEEN A CLIP FROM SEASON 2.
IN SEASON 2 SPIKE IS DISAPPOINTED BY A GRASS SANDWICH.
Er...ok BUT STILL! Season 2!
Keep up the level of fandom that gets shout outs like this and a season 3 is in the bag!
ReplyDeleteThis song is gonna be stuck my head now...and I LIKE IT!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI had a ponygasm.
ReplyDeletei did backflips.
I FANGASMED WAY MORE THAN I EVER HAVE BEFORE!
and i loved it. -faints-
I have no words to coherently describe my thoughts on the awesomeness this video has in it.
ReplyDeleteAnd to all those who think that My Little Pony is going down the hill, I believe in Lauren Faust and all the people who have worked on this. They know where to tow the line in terms of fan references. Anyway, WOOT-WOOT.
Hasbro and The Hub loves Bronies. This is going to attract more BRONIES :DDD GJ HUB & HASBRO! Bronies fo' life.
ReplyDelete>Spike taking the role of Snoop Dogg
ReplyDeleteRequesting Spike as Huggy Bear, stat!
I love this, they have finally recognized us bronies as being an important part of their fanbase!
ReplyDelete>Currently have this song on repeat for all-day.
Beast Wars used to throw in shout outs to the usenet community all the time and it maintained its quality accross its entire run. As long as it doesn't effect the quality of the show then I'm cool with it. Personally, I loved the extended version, although I cringe at pronouncing the "3" LOL
ReplyDeletePinkie needs her own album!!! :D
ReplyDeleteI like this because it confirms Hasbro is on board with the idea their MLP:FIM franchise can have fans of all ages. I was worried for a bit that they might find their unexpected viral Internet popularity as being a brand liability and say, "oh, shit, lets dumb it down so only little girls will like it."
ReplyDeleteNow, that said, I can understand the jaded otakus here who are worried that fan service will lead to degradation of the integrity of the show we've come to enjoy so much. However, I think they're being a bit overly skittish. A fan shout-out bump isn't the same as sabotaging the show with excessive fan-service. I urge they reserve judgement until we get a good look at season 2.
This is... glorious.
ReplyDeleteI have nothing to add that people haven't already said, other than: don't expect huge season 2 shout outs, because episodes are MOSTLY done already...
@Anonymous
ReplyDelete>We used to have nothing but minor contact with the creators
when? There has been a to and from between hasbro and it's fanbase since G1. Just because you came from an image board doesn't make you a different kind of fan.
>But now? Now, the managements knows about us.
You know this ever since derpy eyes derpy dumped the piano and anvil on twilight.
>Ladies and gentlemen, this fandom will never be the same again.
again?
@Anonymous
>Fanservice ruined many shows aleardy, especially animu. I don't likle the idea that MLP will became another shitty animu with tons of fanservice.
Will become? Sounds like there is also shows which don't have this. There's also a difference between announincg the service and flipping out boobs and a certain background pony becomming a comedy plot point. I can point out how MLP is not anime but I think I don't need to explain that part.
Also, as I have said before. By your logic, it was shitty since Feeling Pinkie Keen.
>Derpy is ok but... Cupcakes?
so sweet and tasty
>Rainbow Dash gay/lesbian?
yea that'll have totally notting to do with the rainbow dash picket sign that was in the news. I'm not saying it can't/won't happen, I'm just saying there's multiple places where they can get inspiration. It can match with your view of the fandom. But that doesn't mean it is automatically generated by said fandom.
>Trollestia/Molestia? REALLY?
Trollestia, in a sense, is already happening (but it was after Feeling Pinkie Keen, so yea, it's the part that was ruined already). Molestia? Didn't fanon say that was a REJECTED character?
And really, do we have to reject it before we see it? This can actually happen in a good way. And I truly believe it will.
I swear I thought she said Rainboobs until I realized it was Rainbooms XD
ReplyDeleteMy face! It is locked in smiles!
ReplyDeleteFor Equestria Daily and the entire brony community to get such a shoutout as this from the official makers, it's phenomenal the level of communication between us.
Thanks to the Power of Friendship and Magic right there :D
Let me just say upfront that I smiled at the fan nod and appreciated it to an extent.
ReplyDeleteNow, I hope nopony takes this the wrong way, but I wonder if it would be in everypony's best interests to downplay the brony fanbase in official material. It seems to me that the more prominent our community is, the more likely a general shitstorm is to occur over "those creepy old guys" corrupting an innocent show for little girls. I think a big part of preventing that from happening is to understate our existence, at least on an official level.
It would also be in the best interest of the quality of the show to keep young girls the target demographic. A big part of the show's charm is that it's a girls' show that isn't awful. Can you imagine what the direction of the show would be like if it was regeared towards fan-service to bronies? *shudder*
Of course, all that is a long ways off from a mostly harmless stealth nod, but this level of recognition is kind of unprecedented, and it makes you wonder what the future has in store.
>mfw the name I invented for Scratch is now canon
ReplyDelete:3
...Why? Why can I not share this awesomeness with anyone I know? I know not any other bronies and yet I must share this supreme epicosity!
ReplyDelete@Anonymous
ReplyDeleteYou really need to relax.
What's with all the doomsayers ever since the season 1 finale? Kein's infected the entire fandom with his crap.
All you up tight bronies gonna ruin it for the real fans. Stop being neck beards and except a honest to god shut-out from the makers.
ReplyDeleteAs a fan from the beginning, I'm so pleased.
I could listen to a whole album of music I wouldn't normally listen to if it's Pinkie singing it. So awesome.
ReplyDeleteBut I totally thought I was gonna get trolled before I watched the video, ha.
"Thats right guys, Hub knows about is!"
ReplyDeleteHurr
http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/AscendedMeme
ReplyDeleteLol when I got there someone already had written about it. Good job bronies.
Ok guys and gals, so here we are.
ReplyDeleteBronies, now with the Ascended Meme status. After a whole season and some weeks, bronies are really mentioned on TV. What a great accomplishment for the herd!
Yeah... I know that the Leader of the Alpha Background Squad, Cap. D. Hooves, wasn't there, but come on! We are bronies! The kindest and most awesome soldiers that the world has ever known of! Now on TV!
I don't care what anyone says about The Hub. Without it, we wouldn't have ponies! Or this sweeeet promo!
ReplyDelete<3
The full length version will debut on Saturday 5/28 on The Hub in the first commercial break of the movie Garfield that starts at 5pm ET. PONY FABULOUS!
ReplyDeleteSigh.
ReplyDeleteHasbro decides to give its totally unexpected periphery fanbase a little non-canonical nod, just to show their appreciation. What do some members of said fanbase do? Declare the show "RUINED FOREVER". Not only is that shortsighted, it's incredibly rude and ungrateful.
Come on, guys. Hasbro and Hub know where their bread is buttered. The show is aimed at young girls - that's where they get their advertisers and that's where they push the merch. No WAY would they retool the show for a mature audience. Do you SERIOUSLY think they'd start putting grimdark and lesbian shipping into a kids' cartoon? And anyway, why meddle with a proven winning formula?
This is just a promo. It's Hasbro / Hub's way of letting us know they're aware of us, and thanking us for our support (and, of course, fanning our interest for Season 2). Let them be nice to us!
i came. twice.
ReplyDeletemy mind was blown to pieces when it first came out.
ReplyDeletenow the each individual piece is exploding from watching this
That is AMAZING!!!!! Yeee- HAW!
ReplyDeleteI don't think I can smile any bigger...
ReplyDeleteOh wait wait...
*jaw breaks*
Yep, okay. No bigger.
That's so awesome!
ReplyDeleteIt's....beautiful D:
ReplyDeleteThank you Hub, this made me happy beyond belief! <3
woah... that is simply amazing.
ReplyDeleteI am so happy right now that I am stunned.
I am in shock and awe that they recognised us. Holy guacamoly.
