My Little Pony Website Revamp

Thanks to the person that sent this to me, I totally lost your email though for some reason.  Looks like the actual My Little Pony website plans to finally revamp everything.  You can find a sneak preview of it in the link below, but here are some features they are promising...

1) More Printable Ponies (Like those color able PDF's)

2) More Activities (Looks like a maze on the front page, probably some other things buried in..hopefully a less grindly flash game?)

3) Parental Co-Viewing Tips for those of you with children.

4) More Videos, hopefully this means more "oops" videos like that Pinkie Pie no fear song without background music! That created so much awesome content!

Anyway check out their news page below!

I got to laugh at seeing Pinkie Pie being placed next to a GI Joe character. I know Hasbro owns the copyright to both of them and that's why but still.

They still think that all pony-watchers are little girls...
Little girls can't use the ellipsis.

We're old enough to understand, though. It's okay. :)

@Zarkanorf

Yeah :)
although it does make it seem like Hasbro doesn't like us :'(

I actually was the one who showed my little girl this show. She's 5, and loves Rarity. We watch the show on Youtube whenever I get home from work, which is great. Don't get to spend much time with her, but at least there's something we can do together. Being a single dad blows.

Luckily, she didn't question how I knew about the show. I lurk this blog most of the day at work. Tee hee. >_>

Why would she? Nopony is *born* with narrow-minded preconceptions, that takes time and conditioning.

I watch this show with my two younger siblings. One is 6 and one is 4. yay for sisterly-bortherly bonding pony time whenever I'm not busy with school-related things haha.

It was pretty awkward though when my mom questioned me why I was suddenly watching 'little girl shows' with them...

I tried to get my brother and sister hooked, but as usually they're rebellious preteens. So next I'll try my niece. The herd must expand squee~

You guys oughta realize the demographic for this show is still little girls. i was in Toys R us the other day and there were 4 or 5 little grls in the MLP aisle gushing over the toys.

I guarantee you the little girl fans outnumber you middle aged MEN by 1000 to 1

1000 to 1? I'll take that bet, sure.

Auta Mane said...

I'll take it, too, since I'm right on the edge of that demographic.
So, what were we betting? Dash? Fluttershy? Rainbowshy?

Holy shit. There's some serious lulz so far on the co-viewing tips we see from the sneak preview.

"As Rarity and Spike the Dragon look for gems, Spike asks Rarity if she is jealous of Saphire Shores. Ask your child if she has ever been jealous of someone. Explain that it's more important -- and more fun -- to focus on what makes HER special."

Really? During A Dog and Pony Show? Now I understand if the discussion is during Green Isn't Your Color, an episode ABOUT jealousy, but having a heart-to-heart talk with a child about jealousy during THIS episode? Good god.

Don't worry, it gets worse.

"After Rarity and Spike finish hunting for gems, Rarity gives Spike an extra-large gem as a reward. Explain that Spike has to earn his gem-- just as your child may have to eat her vegetables, or perform a simple chore in exchange for an allowance. Having to earn something makes you appreciate it even more."

These are HORRIBLE. Start an entire new blog entry for this!

Look at it this way; if that's the indication of Hasbro's writing talent, be thankful they don't also write the episodes either. I'll take clumsy writing on a website I'm not likely to visit over excutive meddling in a show.

Yay! Finally more coloring pages coming! I hoped itwould came earlier like christmas themed FIM coloring pages for last christmas but I say it's better later than never.

I hope there will be some summer and beach themed coloring pages too. Well until then I'll catch up with the coloring of the FIM baby pony coloring pages.

I really do not like the new look, too... pink?

Tekaramity said...

So...

I don't mind the new page's design or approach. At all. Even though I don't have kids. Is that bizarre?

Honestly, while I very much appreciate (and inhabit) the periphery fandom, I'm all for Hasbro's continued focus towards girls. As long as they keep allowing the show itself to flourish (and tip its hat now and then to this new batch of fans), I see little reason to murmur. The toy quality is fairly abysmal, sure. That disappointment aside, I *want* the target audience to be eagerly watching FiM.

The second one's moral seems fine enough.

But yeah, the first one didn't really make much sense...

What is this "Oops" you speak of Sethisto?

Sethisto said...

@Anonymous

They accidentally forgot to add the background music to pinkie pie's no fear song on the video uploaded at hubworld, and everyone jumped on it...because it was awesome.

Hey Sethisto I sent you the e-mail by the way!

Fact: Going to "Meet The Ponies" and taking the personality quiz gets you a free poster of whichever pony it matches you with.

ShrinkyDinkPony said...

Ja, I saw dis. It's pretty cool, though I guess hoping for a section dedicated to us older fans is kinda futile. XD Ah well. I took the quiz--got Rainbow. =]
