Hmm, aside from appearing as a guest star, I'd bet they'd ask him to be part of a musical number too. Somehow I don't see him performing with the mane cast though, to my recollection he tends to perform with his own band when he does guest appearances, then again I don't recall him ever taking part in shows that already have a musical cast.
We haven't really had any male musical leads have we? Would shift things up a bit.
That and Al tends to favor stuff that's 'out there', I could see him agreeing to appear on MLP

It wouldn't be the first time he appeared on a girl's cartoon. He appeared on the Sabrina the Teenage Witch animated series in the 90s, doing a song parody (in that episode, they used magic to become rock stars, and he lampooned their hit).

'Wierd' Al Yankovic is one of the greatest/most famous artists currently alive in the parody/comedy music business, and has been active since the 80s.
He is best known for 'food songs', arranging rock polkas, and playing the accordian. He has parodied many many popular musical styles, from rock, to oldies, to country, to hip hop.
And he's got a wicked sense of humor.
The very first place I ever saw Weird Al was on Lilo and Stitch. If he can be on any of these shows mentioned, then MLP can't be to far of a stretch!
Just think of what a stir it would cause in the music community…

Well my dear Anonymous, I'm not from USA either, but I learned who is Weird Al thanks to Pokémon.
And since is sad that he is not so known in some places, i can assure you that he has a good voice, his style fits completely FiM style (I'd say he is more excentric than Pinkie Pie, altough less hype), he has a lot of experience (About 30 years making music/parodies) and that he gladly have been in lots of programs before.
If you have time, look for "Smells like Nirvana", "Don't download this song", "Virus Alert", "Hardware Store", "Everything you know is wrong", "Albuquerque" and "Polkarama".
If you do not have time, just look for "Hardware Store" and "Smells like Nirvana" (That when both songs, "Smells like Teen Spirit" and this one were in the radios at the same time, Weird Al won in popularity). Or his guest appearance in kid programs.
