It doesn't seem that sad, her cutie mark reads to me as her specialty is to seek 'hope' in the darkest of times. A sparkling light among the twilight of the eve or morn. People of the Darkest hour will always see a small ray of hope, in the brightest hour there is no hope to see as the shadow looms.

When I read this I couldn't help but picture a supernova. How the stars that burn the brightest and hottest also burn the fastest, and when they do go, their deaths are some of the most violent events in the universe and outshine everything else. Would fit with her cutey mark too.
Twilight sparkle's special talent is to summon the Reapers.
