Google VLC player or Media Player Classic pack. I don't think avi will ever show up for these 1080p versions, since mkv just does it so much better.

Yeah, I'll stick with .AVIs, at least Windows Media Player doesn't try to plant viruses and trojans on my computer.

VLC and MPclassic don't have viruses or trojans unless you downloaded them from some random 3rd party source with infected files..
